Extension of Mikhlin Multiplier Theorem to Fractional Derivatives and Stable Processes

    Get PDF
In this paper, we prove a new generalized Mikhlin multiplier theorem whose conditions are given with respect to fractional derivatives in integral forms with two different integration intervals. We also discuss the connection between fractional derivatives and stable processes and prove a version of Mikhlin theorem under a condition given in terms of the infinitesimal generator of symmetric stable process. The classical Mikhlin theorem is shown to be a corollary of this new generalized version in this paper.Comment: 23 page

An Extension of a Boundedness Result for Singular Integral Operators

    Get PDF
In this paper, we study some operators which are originated from classical Littlewood-Paley theory. We consider their modification with respect to our discontinuous setup, where the underlying process is the product of a one dimensional Brownian motion and a d-dimensional symmetric stable process. Two operators in focus are G-star and Area functionals. Using the results obtained in our previous paper, we show that these operators are bounded on L^p. Moreover, we generalise a classical multiplier theorem by weakening its conditions on the tail of the kernel of singular integrals.Comment: Minor corrections in the final versio

A Multiplier Related to Symmetric Stable Processes

    Get PDF
In two recent papers [5] and [6], we generalized some classical results of Harmonic Analysis using probabilistic approach by means of a d- dimensional rotationally symmetric stable process. These results allow one to discuss some boundedness conditions with weaker hypotheses. In this paper, we study a multiplier theorem using these more general results. We consider a product process consisting of a d-dimensional symmetric stable process and a 1-dimensional Brownian motion, and use properties of jump processes to obtain bounds on jump terms and the L^p(R^d)-norm of a new operator.Comment: 13 page

Professional Role of Paraprofessionals: A Literature Review

    Get PDF
Abstract Paraprofessionals are an integral component to the learning and growth of students with unique needs. While paraprofessionals are heavily relied upon to provide guidance, communication, instruction, and behavior management amongst other things, studies have found that many individuals working within this field feel underprepared expressing lack of training necessary to carry out the duties to which they are assigned. Professional development for paraprofessionals is limited, and the acknowledgement of such training lacks attention. Research shows that the roles, duties, and responsibilities of paraprofessionals are blurred and often overlooked. This literature review aids in defining the needs of paraprofessionals to diligently carry out the tasks of which they are assigned. Perspectives are also addressed with differing viewpoints and theories shedding light on the unique position in which paraprofessionals are placed. Development of a virtual clearinghouse for paraprofessionals is shared within the latter portion of this paper providing a description of the layout, importance of the creation, and benefits of such a resource in supplying applicable training as well as establishing expectations of professionalism for paraprofessionals

Artist statement My work is based around my personal beliefs, feelings, and experiences. This means that my work often displays a feminine perspective. It also means that I consider women’s issues when creating. I often dig into my roots for inspiration, this causes me to incorporate midwestern imagery into my pieces like nature and agriculture. My preferred medium is oil painting. I am drawn to the repetitive nature of layering. However, I also enjoy working with charcoal and sculpture. Art has the ability to be expressive and create an experience for the viewer as well as the artist. By utilizing this I intend to help viewers relate to my work, or at least understand a perspective that may not be their own. My collections are intended to start a dialog, raise a question, or evoke an emotion in the audience. Art also provides me with a platform for my concerns and opinions. Most of my paintings are figurative. While not all of the figures I create are clearly defined into male or female, I often draw into the feminine aesthetics. I also tend to dramatize my pieces by utilizing color in order to create a dynamic work. By using highly saturated colors it allows me to incorporate a great deal of contrast and depth as well. My sculptures tend to be connected to the viewer’s sense of touch. I find that texture is something that really affects the small choices I make everyday. Therefore, this became a concept that constantly appears in my three dimensional pieces. Part of the observation of my works require you to think about what they are created from, how they feel, and who created them. Like my sculptures my abstract pieces are often inspired by my own sense of touch. Compared to the rest of my work My abstractions tend to incorporate heavy linear patterns. Another commonality amongst my work is that I usually stick to forgiving media, (oil paint, charcoal, and handbuilding). This is because I am not perfect and sometimes there are accidents (whether they be negative or positive) and art is about problem solving. I think that my art is not always going to be perfect just like life and both things should be subject to change. This also ties into why I want my audience to touch my sculptures. Over time they will be subject to the change that goes on in the world around it just like we are.https://digitalcommons.murraystate.edu/art399/1088/thumbnail.jp

Earlier Palliative Care Referral for Oncology Patients

    Get PDF
Palliative care continues to be a specialty that is not clearly understood by healthcare providers, patients, families, or society. Due to this it remains underutilized and does not get the attention it should. A review of literature supported this, and strongly recommended future research be conducted. There is research and data to support early palliative care referrals in addition to standard oncology care, but there is more needed. Palliative care referrals need to be made early in the diagnosis of advanced cancer or cancer with metastasis. These services and resources are extremely beneficial and offer many treatment pathways. The objective of this project was to create a more consistent, effective, and efficient early palliative care referral process. In doing so more palliative care referrals will be made and patients will receive the best care available. Nursing and palliative care complement each other therefore practitioners are the ones who will be on the front line handling the referrals. The palliative nurse practitioners will be a part of the care team from the beginning and support the patient for the entire course of treatment to end of life care

Adolescent Dating Violence: Attachment Style and Parents\u27 Unhealthy Marital Relationship as Possible Predictors

    Get PDF
This study tests whether insecure attachment style and parents’ modeling of unhealthy relationships predict adolescent dating violence (ADV) victimization. Also tested was the possible moderating role of secure attachment on the relation between parental modeling of unhealthy relationships and ADV victimization. It was hypothesized that insecure attachment and parental modeling of unhealthy relationships would individually be associated with increased ADV victimization, and secure attachment would attenuate the predicted positive association between parental modeling of unhealthy relationships and ADV victimization. Participants were adolescents (N = 152, M age = 15.61 years, SD = 1.086, 74.3% girls), who completed a survey that assessed ADV victimization, parental modeling of unhealthy relationships, and attachment style. Bivariate correlations indicated that modeling of unhealthy relationships by mothers and modeling of unhealthy relationships by the combination of both parents were significantly positively associated with ADV victimization, but these associations were not found in multivariate analyses. Discussed are the implications of these findings for future research in this area

The Impact of Dialogue Journals and Circles on Social and Self-Awareness in 6th Grade

    Get PDF
This action research project aims to measure the social and self-awareness of 6th grade math intervention students in a suburban school in central North Dakota from the end of January to the beginning of March 2023. This study focused on two methods to promote student-teacher relationships and build a classroom community. The two methods employed were Circles for whole group activities and Dialogue Journals for individual correspondence between students and teachers to build that relationship. Surveys were done before and after the six-week intervention to gauge student perceptions on their own emotions, academic, and social-emotional activities in school. Students were interviewed after the intervention to collect qualitative and quantitative data on their opinions about the activities in the intervention. This study concluded that students see the importance of Social Emotional Learning and enjoy building relationships. All schools and communities that play a role in the development of children need to take time to teach and practice Social Emotional Learning

Is Diamond a Resource Curse for Africa?

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the resource curse in diamond exporting industry in African countries. The empirical evidence about the “resource curse” is mixed in literature and almost none has been done regarding diamond. Our study aims to bridge that gap. The results suggest that diamond export is positively correlated with well-being in a group of African countries. In other words, the “resource curse” may not occur in diamond mining industry after the Kimberly Process (KP) was put in place in 2002. We argue that the KP serves as a good institution and has created good incentives for firms in the industry. In return, these firms may have created better jobs and increased well-being in these countries. The author is thankful for continuous support and critical advice from Dr. Tuan V. Le
