Invariance: a Theoretical Approach for Coding Sets of Words Modulo Literal (Anti)Morphisms
Let be a finite or countable alphabet and let be literal
(anti)morphism onto (by definition, such a correspondence is determinated
by a permutation of the alphabet). This paper deals with sets which are
invariant under (-invariant for short). We establish an
extension of the famous defect theorem. Moreover, we prove that for the
so-called thin -invariant codes, maximality and completeness are two
equivalent notions. We prove that a similar property holds in the framework of
some special families of -invariant codes such as prefix (bifix) codes,
codes with a finite deciphering delay, uniformly synchronized codes and
circular codes. For a special class of involutive antimorphisms, we prove that
any regular -invariant code may be embedded into a complete one.Comment: To appear in Acts of WORDS 201
Creativity as a State of Consciousness: Creativity and Altered States of Consciousness
Part of a larger research initiative focused on altered states of consciousness as it relates to creativity, this inquiry is a continuation of my independent study completed fall 2016. This project is designed to further develop research in the area of creativity as it relates to altered states of consciousness. It offers a new paradigm for how we might present the concept of altered states of consciousness within the field of creativity. This altered state is in contrast to what will be defined as an ordinary state of consciousness. The product and qualities expressed in an altered state of consciousness is creativity. There are various methods to induce a healthy altered state. The more one practices entering into induced altered states, the more highly conscious and the more creative one becomes. In addition, one becomes more self-actualized, rarefied, connected, yet individualized and more consciously evolved

Modeling the Impact Parameter Dependence of the nPDFs With EKS98 and EPS09 Global Fits
So far the nuclear PDFs (nPDFs) in the global DGLAP fits have been taken to
be spatially independent. In this work, using the -dependence of the
globally fitted sets EPS09 and EKS98, we have determined the spatial dependence
of the nPDFs in terms of powers of the nuclear thickness functions. New
spatially dependent nPDF sets EPS09s (NLO, LO, error sets) and EKS98s (LO) are
released. As an application, we consider the nuclear modification factor
at midrapidity for neutral pion production in deuteron-gold
collisions at RHIC in NLO. Comparison with the PHENIX data in different
centrality classes is also shown. In addition, predictions for the
corresponding nuclear modification factor in proton-lead
collisions at the LHC are discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, Talk given at Hard Probes 2012, 27 May - 1 June,

EPPS16 - Bringing nuclear PDFs to the LHC era
We report on EPPS16, the first global analysis of nuclear parton distribution
functions (nPDFs) to include LHC data. Also for the first time, a full flavour
dependence of nPDFs is allowed. While the included Z and W data are found to
have insufficient statistics to yield stringent constraints, the CMS 5.02 TeV
proton-lead dijet data prove crucial in setting the shape of nuclear gluon
modifications. With these and other observables being measured in proton-lead
runs, we are experiencing a shift of nPDFs to the LHC precision era.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures. Prepared for the proceedings of the 12th

EPS09s and EKS98s: Impact parameter dependent nPDF sets
In our recent study we have determined two new spatially dependent nuclear
PDF (nPDF) sets, EPS09s and EKS98s. With these, the hard-process cross-sections
can be calculated in different centrality classes consistently with the
globally analyzed nPDFs for the first time. The sets were determined by
exploiting the -systematics of the globally fitted nPDF sets, EPS09 and
EKS98. For the spatial dependence of the nPDFs we used a power series ansatz in
the nuclear thickness function . In this flash talk we introduce the
framework, and present our NLO EPS09s-based predictions for the nuclear
modification factor in four centrality classes for inclusive neutral pion
production in p+Pb collisions at the LHC and for inclusive prompt photon
production in d+Au collisions at RHIC at midrapidity.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, Contribution to the proceedings of the Quark
