Tlingit Indians, part of the indigenous people in Alaska, during the period of its entry into Russia, were hostile to the Russian people and to their faith β Orthodoxy. But two decades after the sale of Alaska to the United States there was a mass adoption of Orthodox faith by the Tlingit. The initiative was taken by the Tlingit. The reason for this was the desire of the people to maintain cultural independence in conditions of uncompromising Americanization, conducted by the new authorities and representatives of the Presbyterian Church. In 1886 52 Indians have been baptized, including two influential leaders, and then for several years almost half of the Tlingit people of Alaska adopted Orthodoxy. Since that time, many Orthodox churches had appeared. For spiritual guidance of the Tlingit people Orthodox priests were assigned as a rule. They conducted not only missionary work, but also helped the autochthons to preserve their language and culture

Expansion in XVII-XVIII centuries of the territory of the Russian Empire in the East to the coast of North America gave rise to the development of the missionary work of the Russian Orthodox Church. The activities of missionaries, on one hand, were a personal spiritual heroic deed on spreading the faith, and, on the other hand, the part of state policy aimed at strengthening the statehood in the New Territories and acculturation of the autochthonous population. Implementation of West Siberian oil and gas project (WSOGP) has hurt and significantly reshaped the interests of leading powers of the world with a great impact on the economic system and political relations. At the same time cooperation in oil and gas sphere between USSR and the West had the opposite, very significant impact on the development of WSOGP, the Soviet Union and modern Russia. The article considers the possibilities and limitations of international cooperation in the oil and gas sphere, causes and consequences of the shift in the Soviet structure of oil and gas export which happened in the 1960s and 1980s. The article introduces to Western political concepts regarding cooperation with the East. Each change of concepts West β East more or less affected the participation of foreign countries in development of Siberian oil and gas resources. Interest in a lowcost nature resources and guaranteed supplies pushed the West to release credits for development of Siberian fields. A stabilizing factor in the relations East β West appeared with the expansion of international cooperation in development of Siberian oil and gas fields. St. Innokenty, missioner and enlightener of Alaska people, arrived as a young priest to serve on the island of Unalaska. He aimed to translate into the Aleutian language and publish theological books, the Gospel and liturgical texts so that to wake the local population to the Christian faith. The history of the first and second translation into the Aleutian language of the Catechism, its publication and also the creation by St. Innokenty of alphabet and grammar of the Aleutian language, the translation of the Gospel and liturgical texts and his own writing entitled βIndication of the Way into the Kingdom of Heavenβ.
