From an axiological standpoint
I maintain that intrinsic value is the fundamental concept of axiology. Many contemporary philosophers disagree; they say the proper object of value theory is final value. I examine three accounts of the nature of final value: the first claims that final value is non‐instrumental value; the second claims that final value is the value a thing has as an end; the third claims that final value is ultimate or non‐derivative value. In each case, I argue that the concept of final value described is either identical with the classical notion of intrinsic value or is not a plausible candidate for the primary concept of axiology
Mode Shift to Arlanda Airport for Sustainable Development
For the past 20 years, the GPCRDB (G protein-coupled receptors database; http://www.gpcr.org/7tm/) has been a 'one-stop shop' for G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)-related data. The GPCRDB contains experimental data on sequences, ligand-binding constants, mutations and oligomers, as well as many different types of computationally derived data, such as multiple sequence alignments and homology models. The GPCRDB also provides visualization and analysis tools, plus a number of query systems. In the latest GPCRDB release, all multiple sequence alignments, and >65,000 homology models, have been significantly improved, thanks to a recent flurry of GPCR X-ray structure data. Tools were introduced to browse X-ray structures, compare binding sites, profile similar receptors and generate amino acid conservation statistics. Snake plots and helix box diagrams can now be custom coloured (e.g. by chemical properties or mutation data) and saved as figures. A series of sequence alignment visualization tools has been added, and sequence alignments can now be created for subsets of sequences and sequence positions, and alignment statistics can be produced for any of these subsets
Screening of Coriander Genotypes for their Relative Susceptibility against Aphids under Field Conditions
The field experiments were conducted during Rabi 2013-14 and 2014-15 to screen out twelve varieties/entries of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) for their relative susceptibility against aphids. None of the varieties/entries escaped the infestation of aphids. The build-up of aphid infestation started from second half of December and reached to its maximum in the first to third week of February in both years and then gradually declined. On the basis of grade index of mean aphid population, coriander varieties RCr- 684 (25.45 aphids/plant), RCr-446 (26.45 aphids/plant), ACr-1 (26.60 aphids/plant), RCr- 436 (41.75 aphids/plant), Gujarat Coriander-2 (42.45 aphids/plant), Pant Haritma (43.50 aphids/plant) and Gujarat Coriander-1 (43.70 aphids/plant) were categorized as least susceptible, Rajendra Swati and RCr-41 were moderately susceptible, whereas, Swati (CS-6), Sadhna (CS-4) and Sindhu (CS-2), 73.88, 70.60 and 69.50 aphids/plant, respectively were categorized as highly susceptible varieties of coriander against aphids under field conditions. Coriander variety RCr-684 received maximum yield (16.82 and 16.63 q/ha) for both the years followed by ACr-1 and RCr-446

Synchrotron x-ray study of lattice vibrations in CdCr2O4
Using inelastic x-ray scattering we have investigated lattice vibrations in a
geometric frustrated system CdCr2O4 that upon cooling undergoes a spin-Peierls
phase transition at TN = 7.8 K from a cubic and paramagnetic to a tetragonal
and Neel state. Phonon modes measured around Brillouin zone boundaries show
energy shifts when the transition occurs. Our analysis shows that the shifting
can be understood as the ordinary effects of the lowering of the crystal
symmetry
How Reasoning Aims at Truth
Many hold that theoretical reasoning aims at truth. In this paper, I ask what it is for reasoning to be thus aim-directed. Standard answers to this question explain reasoning’s aim-directedness in terms of intentions, dispositions, or rule-following. I argue that, while these views contain important insights, they are not satisfactory. As an alternative, I introduce and defend a novel account: reasoning aims at truth in virtue of being the exercise of a distinctive kind of cognitive power, one that, unlike ordinary dispositions, is capable of fully explaining its own exercises. I argue that this account is able to avoid the difficulties plaguing standard accounts of the relevant sort of mental teleology
The 2.5PN linear momentum flux and associated recoil from inspiralling compact binaries in quasi-circular orbits: Nonspinning case
Anisotropic emission of gravitational waves (GWs) from inspiralling compact
binaries leads to the loss of linear momentum and hence gravitational recoil of
the system. The loss rate of linear momentum in the far-zone of the source (a
nonspinning binary system of black holes in quasicircular orbit) is
investigated at the 2.5 post-Newtonian (PN) order and used to provide an
analytical expression in harmonic coordinates for the 2.5PN accurate recoil
velocity of the binary accumulated in the inspiral phase. We find that the
recoil velocity at the end of the inspiral phase (i.e at the innermost stable
circular orbit (ISCO)) is maximum for a binary with symmetric mass ratio of
\nu~0.2 and is roughly about ~4.58 km/s. Going beyond inspiral, we also provide
an estimate of the more important contribution to the recoil velocity from the
plunge phase. Again the recoil velocity at the end of the plunge, involving
contributions both from inspiral and plunge phase, is maximum for a binary with
\nu~0.2 and is of the order of ~180 km/s.Comment: 17 pages, 1 figure; This version includes the changes appearing in

(E)-Ethyl 2-cyano-3-(furan-2-yl)acrylate
There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C10H9NO3, in both of which, all non-H atoms except for the methyl C atom lie nearly in the same plane [maximum deviations = 0.094 (3) and 0.043 (2) Å]. In the crystal, each independent molecules is linked by pairs of C—H⋯O interactions, generating inversion dimers with R
