Big data -analyysi pietarilaisten lukumieltymyksistä

The Saint Petersburg public library system accumulates information on the attributes of library users (gender, age, education, occupation) as well as on the books they borrow. In this paper, we analyse profiles of all readers who borrowed books by the 200 most popular fiction authors in 2014 (overall borrowed 293,319 times by 84,003 unique readers). The data offers partial support to Bourdieu’s homology thesis: a system of tastes exists which is strongly correlated with the level of formal education attained and character of a person’s employment (manual/non-manual). However, the available evidence does not rule out the possibility that higher-status culture is omnivorous. The effects of status culture cross-cuts the effects of generational changes in tastes (sci-fi and fantasy succeeded detectives and mystery stories as the most popular genres) and interacts with gender effects (a male-female polarisation of tastes is evident in the low-brow, but not in the high-brow, part of the status spectrum). Due to the unusually rich data taken at the level of individual authors, we can observe the shortcomings of conventional genre classification as a tool for measuring ‘brow-level’: subgenres, rather than genres, polarise audiences.Artikkelissa analysoidaan tietokantaa, joka kattaa kaikki lukijat, jotka käyttivät Pietarin kaupunginkirjastojen kirjastokorttia vuonna 2014. Tietokannan avulla voidaan tutkia millaisia kirjoja erilaiset lukijat valitsevat. Tässä artikkelissa analysoimme kulttuuristen mieltymysten laaja-alaisuutta 200 suosituimman kirjailijan avulla. Tulokset tukevat osittain Bourdieun homologiateesiä: on olemassa makujen järjestelmiä, jotka korreloivat merkittävästi koulutuksen tason kanssa, ja teokset voidaan laittaa hierarkkiseen järjestykseen lukijoiden keskimääräisen koulutustason ja työn luonteen (fyysinen tai ei-fyysinen työ) perusteella. Hierarkiassa John Fowles on ylhäällä mutta ”miesten” ja ”naisten” rikoskirjallisuus sekä fantasiakirjallisuus alhaalla. Samalla statuskulttuurin vaikutukset limittyvät sukupolven (nuoret sukupolvet lukevat fantasiakirjallisuutta ja vanhat rikoskirjallisuutta) ja sukupuolen vaikutukseen(miesten ja naisten välinen oppositio voidaan havaita matalan statuksen kirjallisuudessa, mutta ei korkean statuksen kirjallisuudessa) sekä biografiseen sykliin. Lukemisen luonne muuttuu iän myötä: lasten kirjallisuudesta (joka myöson polarisoitunut statuksen perusteella) siirrytään kouluopetuksen kautta kohti lukemisen eriytymistä aikuisuudessa. Tarkistuslista kirurgisen gastroenterologisen potilaan kotiutukseen

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa tarkistuslista eräälle TAYS Hatanpään osastolle kirurgisen gastroenterologisen potilaan lääkärin kierrolle työvälineeksi potilaan kotiutuessa tai siirtyessä jatkohoitoon. Tarkistuslistan toivottiin helpottavan hoitajien työtä osastolla ja lisäävän potilasturvallisuutta. Osastolla hoidetaan gastroenterologisia ja gynekologisia potilaita. Työ rajattiin gastroenterologisiin potilaisiin, koska suurin osa osaston potilaista kuuluu tähän potilasryhmään. Tarkoituksena oli selvittää, mitä tarkoitetaan kirurgisella gastroenterologisella potilaalla, mitä erityispiirteitä gastroenterologisen potilaan hoidossa on huomioitava ja mikä on tarkistuslista. Työ toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä. Tuotoksena päätettiin tuottaa taskukokoinen tarkistuslista, joka kulkisi helposti hoitohenkilökunnan mukana lääkärinkierrolla. Hoitohenkilökunnalta tiedusteltiin heidän toiveitaan tarkistuslistan sisällöstä ja mitä he kokevat hoitotyön haasteiksi lääkärinkierrolla. Tarkistuslista koostettiin näiden toiveiden ja tutkitun tiedon mukaisesti. Jatkotutkimuksena voitaisiin selvittää, onko tarkistuslista tuonut toivotun parannuksen hoitohenkilökunnan työhön ja tarkistuslistan voisi laajentaa kattamaan myös gynekologiset potilaat.The purpose of the thesis was to produce a checklist for one department of TAYS Hatanpää to provide a tool for the surgical gastroenterological patient's rounds for when a patient is released or transferred to further treatment and to improve patient safety. Gastroenterological and gynecological patients are treated at the department. The scope of the thesis was limited to gastroenterological patients, as they are the bulk of the patients that inhabit the department. The purpose of the thesis was to find out what is meant by the term gastroenterological patient, what one must consider when giving medical care to a gastroenterological patient and what is a checklist. The work was carried out as a functional thesis. As throughput, it was decided to produce a pocket-size checklist that would be easy to carry. The nursing staff were asked their wishes about the content of the checklist and what they experience as nursing challenges during patient’s rounds. The checklist was compiled in accordance with these wishes and the information being researched. A further study would be to find out if the checklist provided the desired improvement to the care of the nurses and the checklist could be extended to include gynecological patients
