    Get PDF
This field project is based on developing a web application model for a hypothetical small business –“Beverly Flowers.” As a small business, it did not see the need for a web presence in its initial years of operation. However its latest marketing analysis has revealed that its existing customer base wants the convenience of shopping from home. The company would like to develop a web application rapidly to gain maximum benefits; however the company lacks Information Technology resources due to budget constraints. In the current age of fast pace commerce, every Small and Medium sized Business (SMB), without e-Commerce or a Web presence is faced with similar challenges. This field project focuses on how SMBs can embark on a new initiative to build a web presence rapidly, efficiently, and cost effectively by using an industry proven open source software such as the Spring framework. The field project focuses on the benefits that small and medium companies can gain by rapidly developing web application using the open source model. There are many successful organizations that have adopted this method and have implemented successful applications. This has resulted in tremendous cost savings and increase in customer satisfaction for those companies. This field project also includes a small software development model – a prototype, to build the required web presence for Beverly Flowers using Spring framework

This dissertation reports the project work developed in the Thesis/Dissertation course during the 2nd year of the Master of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the field of Automation and Systems, Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) at Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP). The installation of an Air Handling Unit (AHU) in a work place or a hospital plays an important role in the treatment and maintaining the purity of air. The temperature control is focused in this dissertation. The AHU maintains the temperature of the room or office at a set temperature. The heating and cooling function are done automatically by taking in the reference temperature of the room also depending on the outdoor climate. The main purpose of the AHU is to ensure comfort to the patients, staffs and the employees. In case of the hospitals, the main function of AHU is air cleanliness in hygiene applications. It also includes supplying a sufficient amount of oxygen and removing the carbon dioxide and maintaining a comfortable room climate. They help protect patients and staff from infections. This dissertation will focus on the study of wide range of technologies which will work on the AHU with the Carel electronic controller whose main function is to control the temperature of an office. The unit was installed at Farfetch, Barco, Portugal. The study includes the working of selection criteria of the supply and return fans, inverters, recovery unit, probes, dampers and the controller

Integrated reporting is a focus on reporting of non-financial information along with the financial information. This paper deals with the identification of the possible strategies for the creation of the value along with the perceptions of respondents regarding various issues of the integrated reporting system. The results show that a better understanding of business through the improved internal processes was useful in connecting departments was useful to create value for stakeholders. It also found that there was a need for integration of metrics from non-financial to the financial to develop the necessary reporting system. The study further stated that clearly defined goals and strategies were useful to plan for continuous improvement. The study also observed that the most preferred issue faced by the respondent are a better understanding of business through the improved internal process (advantages), domestic legislation (challenge), development of necessary reporting system (suggestions), fully integrated report - a single report (mode of disclosures). The present study suggests that information should be disclosed using a single integrated report instead of the existing multiple reporting systems. It likewise proposed to outfit the data of money related danger, item improvement, buyer necessities, limit development in million tones, deals and generation in volume, wellbeing and security, plan of action, dangers and opportunities, systems, execution and last standpoint in edge work of incorporated answering to see the real position of the concerned organization. At long last, it is inferred that there ought to be a mix of money related and non-monetary data in the yearly reports to mirror the genuine and reasonable perspective of the busines

In today\u27s world of the fastest means of communication, one can reach one’s destination quite easily. However, the challenge is getting last-mile connectivity when traveling locally. Uber and local transport are there, but it takes time. In such a scenario, one will surely miss the car. A simple solution for these challenges is a car rental service. Easy Rides is a website that will help rent a car with a click. Here users are allowed to rent a car for the day or by the hour as per their requirements. This website also has a hosting functionality where users can host their cars. To do so, they must enroll their car in the car rent list and earn regular income. There are three users on the website. ➢ Renter – Navigate to choose the car of their choice and book it by making an advance rental payment. ➢ Owner – They can list their car in the marketplace, view the booking details, and post rental ratings ➢ Admin - must keep track of all users, including the Renter, Owner, The listed cars, and their bookings. After signing into the website, the user will land on the homepage. The homepage is made very interactive and user-friendly. In the homepage\u27s navigation menu, users can select various sections that will direct them to the different pages having unique functionality. The purpose of the Easy Rides service is to make last connectivity easy and economical. To develop the website, we use HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, and JavaScript for the front end. We use Java, Hibernate, and Rest APIs for the backend. Moreover, for storing data, we are using the MySQL database

full-FORCE: A Target-Based Method for Training Recurrent Networks

    Get PDF
Trained recurrent networks are powerful tools for modeling dynamic neural computations. We present a target-based method for modifying the full connectivity matrix of a recurrent network to train it to perform tasks involving temporally complex input/output transformations. The method introduces a second network during training to provide suitable "target" dynamics useful for performing the task. Because it exploits the full recurrent connectivity, the method produces networks that perform tasks with fewer neurons and greater noise robustness than traditional least-squares (FORCE) approaches. In addition, we show how introducing additional input signals into the target-generating network, which act as task hints, greatly extends the range of tasks that can be learned and provides control over the complexity and nature of the dynamics of the trained, task-performing network.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figure
