    Mobile Commerce and Applications: An Exploratory Study and Review

    Mobile commerce is enabling the development of additional revenue streams for organizations through the delivery of chargeable mobile services. According to the European Information Technology Observatory, the total amount of revenue generated by mobile commerce was reported to be less than {\pounds}9 million in the United Kingdom in 2001. By 2005 this had, at least, doubled and more recent industry forecasts project significant global growth in this area. Mobile commerce creates a range of business opportunities and new revenue streams for businesses across industry sectors via the deployment of innovative services, applications and associated information content.     Determinantes do consumo sustentável em categorias de produtos de alto e baixo envolvimento

    The aim of this research is to explore the determinants of sustainable consumption with respect to Goal-Framing theory. The study has adopted high and low involvement product categories to identify which motivational factor is more relevant in each of the categories. This is a validation and extension to the Goal-framing theory conducted in the context of developing nation settings. There are three motivational factors, gain, hedonic and normative motivations taken as a predictor to consumer intentions to adopt sustainable products. The integrated effects of the motivational factors were also determined to have a comprehensive study on them with respect to sustainable consumption. The study follows a quantitative research method technique and gathered the data using an adapted questionnaire. For both the samples, different sample sizes were acquired as per their nature, PLS-SEM technique was used to test the measurement and structural models. For both the samples, different results are obtained and suggestions are given accordingly. The study provides insights to the policymakers and practitioners. Further areas of research in the area are also suggested.El objetivo de esta investigación es explorar los determinantes del consumo sostenible con respecto a la teoría del Marco de Objetivos. El estudio ha adoptado categorías de productos de alta y baja participación para identificar qué factor motivacional es más relevante en cada una de las categorías. Esta es una validación y extensión de la teoría de la estructura de objetivos llevada a cabo en el contexto de la configuración de una nación en desarrollo. Hay tres factores motivacionales, ganancias, motivaciones hedónicas y normativas que se toman como predictor de las intenciones de los consumidores de adoptar productos sostenibles. También se determinó que los efectos integrados de los factores motivacionales tenían un estudio exhaustivo sobre ellos con respecto al consumo sostenible. El estudio sigue una técnica de método de investigación cuantitativa y recopila los datos mediante un cuestionario adaptado. Para ambas muestras, se adquirieron diferentes tamaños de muestra según su naturaleza, se usó la técnica PLS-SEM para probar la medición y los modelos estructurales. Para ambas muestras, se obtienen diferentes resultados y se dan sugerencias en consecuencia. El estudio proporciona información a los responsables políticos y profesionales. También se sugieren otras áreas de investigación en el área.O objetivo desta investigação é explorar os determinantes do consumo, com respeito à teoria do Marco de Objetivos.     Problematic mobile phone consumption among young consumers: policy and research implications

    Youth represents a largest segment for both telecom operators and mobile phones manufacturers in Pakistan. However, there is relatively a little research regarding the inappropriate and problematic mobile phone consumption among youth. This paper with the help of extant literature argues that young consumers are generally involved in problematic mobile phone consumption than any other age group. This warrants a thorough research on different aspects of problematic mobile phone consumption patterns among young consumers for better consumer policy making and for their wellbeing. Present article proposes some potential research areas with regards to young mobile phone consumers and provides a few suggestions to protect young consumers from the negative consequences of mobile phone consumption

    Downside of family motivation; impact of family motivation on job burnout through emotional labor

    Extending the efforts of earlier studies, this study investigated the relationship between family motivation and job burnout.Viamediating mechanism of emotional labor by using conservation of resource (COR) theory as a framework. Itcontributes to the existing literature by exploring relatively new phenomenaof family motivation.Whereby the employees’ family motivation distracts them from performingtheir duties, exerting more emotional labor, which increases job burnout. The relevancy of family motivation is increased under the work from home situation because of COIVID19. A total of 189 full-time employees, working in both public and private sector organizations in Pakistan, were observed. The findings revealed that family motivation is positively related tojob burnout, and this relationship is mediated by emotional labor at the workplace. The findings of the study are discussed in terms of their theoretical and practical implications

    Role of Knowledge Creation and Absorptive Capacity: A Panel Data Study of Innovation

    Purpose- Knowledge creation refers to the ability of firms to create new knowledge that starts from individuals to integrating the firms and then the overall economy. This study suggests that knowledge acquisition in a country has a significant relationship with innovative performance. Design/Methodology- Data from 48 highly HDI countries is taken from World Bank and World Economic Forum. Based on 480 country-year observations in a panel mediator model, it is revealed that the national efforts of boosting knowledge acquisition influence the firms’ innovative performance. Findings- Further, it is found that absorptive capacity in the employability of knowledgeable workers works as a mediator between knowledge acquisition and innovation. Whereby higher knowledge acquisition leads to higher absorptive capacity and higher innovation. Practical Implications- This study builds a quantitative model for the macroeconomic context of knowledge-based view

    Corporate social responsibility (CSR) theory and practice in Pakistan

    This master thesis is dealing with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its awareness in Pakistani companies. The objective is to see how different companies in Pakitan (multinationals and domestic) view the CSR concept in their strategy. The study is based on empirical findings where all the facts and information is gathered through qualitative approach. The six different companies in which three multinational MNC’c and three domestic companies have CSR in their strategy have been selected. The descriptions of all their CSR strategies are than compared with the theoretical framework. The analysis of empirical findings under theoretical assumptions reveals that the most of the CSR is carried in similar way which is based on community development through charity or philanthropy. The conclusion is that to increase the general awareness about CSR the companies have to consider environmental, social, and ethical awareness in their business strategy and try to go beyond philanthropy or charity and adopt a longterm sustainable strategy in the business to become ethical corporate citizen. This can make Pakistan a place for an attractive business environment for investors

    Firstly, this paper describes a phenomenon of transnational organization and general condition of world and ‘man in the world’. For developing a comprehensive framework, it presents authentic literature review beginning from modernity to post modernity using the hermeneutic-interpretivism research tradition to show the similarities between modernism and post modernism. By revealing the missing link in the quantum paradigm of ralph Kilmann (scholar of quantum organization) on one hand, it develops the possibility of reviving revealed knowledge back into the main frame knowledge of organization theory, on the other hand. By raising and addressing the question of how can the revealed knowledge addresses the current economic dilemma, the paper describes the three lenses available used to understand natural world, socio economic world and behavioral world in Newtonian verses quantum assumptions on organization theory   along with their implications. For cross fertilization of ideas and better understanding of God, cosmos and human it presents an alternative of Islamic way forward suggested by scholarly views from East and West.     Retained stones in the common bile duct: results of management

    Seventeen patients underwent treatment for retained common bile duct stones. In 7 patients the stones were removed via a T-tube tract using steerable catheters while 5 patients underwent ERCP and sphincterotomy and 5 underwent surgical re-exploration. Considering morbidity, mortality, success rate and patients\u27 stay in the hospital, non-operative modalities should be the treatment of choice for retained common bile duct stones
