This study aims to investigate the perceptions and obstacles faced by EFL learners in the implementation of blended learning in an abnormal learning system. A group of undergraduate EFL learners, consisting of 48, who has completed a Grammar Class, participated in the study. The 48 learners formed three different learner category levels; High, Moderate, and Low. The learners of the three different category levels filled in a semi-structured open-ended questionnaire and responded semi-structured interviews. The low category learners perceive that learning grammar through blended learning is meaningful but need more experiences in the utilization of online learning mode, and in-availability of the supporting tools; The moderate category learners perceive blended learning to provide them more study times and make them get used to the internet or online-based learning; and the high category learners perceive the implementation of blended learning as helpful, easier, flexible, and fun. Although the learners of the three different categories level face the same problems on the implementation of blended learning, namely poor internet connectivity at home and campus, unclear online instruction, and delay to respond questions on the online learning mode, the learners of the low category level, on the other hand, experience problems applying online learning mode. We discuss the practical implications of the research results for the successful implementation of blended learning in the future, especially for low proficiency learners and in situations of abnormal learning systems

A cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) was successively purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation, and affinity chromatography on a-CD (epoxy)-Sepharose 6B column. The specific activity of the CGTase was increased approximately 2200-fold, from 8.43 U/mg protein to 18,866 U/mg protein. SDS-PAGE showed that the purified CGTase was homogeneous and the molecular weight of the purified CGTase was about 75 kDa. The molecular weight of the enzyme that was estimated by gel filtration under native condition was 79 kDa. This has indicated that Bacillus sp. G1 CGTase is a monomeric protein. The isoelectric point (pI) of the enzyme was about 8.8. Characterization of the enzyme exhibited optimum pH and temperature of 6.0 and 60 8C, respectively. The enzyme was stable from pH 7.0 to 9.0 and retained its high activity up to 60 8C. However, in the presence of 20 mM Ca2+, the purified CGTase is able to prolong its thermal stability up to 70 8C. CGTase was strongly inhibited by ZnSO4, CuSO4, CoCl2, FeSO4, FeCl3 and EDTA. Km and Vmax for the purified enzyme were 0.15 mg/ml and 60.39 mg bcyclodextrin/( ml min), respectively, with soluble starch as substrate. In cyclodextrin production, tapioca starch was found to be the best substrate used to produce CDs. The enzyme produced g- and b-CD in the ratio of 0.11:0.89 after 24 h incubation at 60 8C, without the presence of any selective agents

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of various drying and tempering durations on rice quality using thin layer drying. The drying procedure consist four satge; first rough rice was dried in a drying chamber for various durations to remove 5 to 8 % moisture content (M.C). In the second stage rice was tempered under the room temperature for certain duration, to reduce MC gradients within the kernels. tempering period. The rice was then dried further to reach the final 14 % M.C. After the second drying the rice was tempered. Drying process was conducted using  heated air at temperature of either 50 0C, RH 26%  or  60 0C, RH 17%. The results  show that very small  reduction in Head Rice Yield (HRY) when  less than 6 % m.c, were removed during the first drying stage. Effects on HRY was obeserved when the moisture removal was greater than 6% m.c. during the 1st drying stage. It was also observed that tempering time could not prevent the reduction in HRY when moisture remomal was higher than 6% M.C. during the 1st drying stage

Zinc Oxide Nanostructures for Efficient Energy Conversion in Organic Solar Cell

    Get PDF
We present a new approach of solution-processed using zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures as extraction layer material for organic solar cells. It is low chemical reaction compatibility with all types of organic blends and its good adhesion to both surfaces of ITO/glass substrate and the active layer (blends). Parameters such as the thickness and the morphology of the films were investigated to prove that these factors greatly affect the efficiency of organic solar cells. In this work, ZnO layer with thickness of approximately 53 nm was used as an interlayer to prevent pin-holes between the electrode and the polymer layer. The polymer layer was coated on the ZnO layer with the thickness of about 150 nm. The thick polymer layer will form a non-uniform surface because of the solvent, 1-2dichlorobenzene will etch away some region of the polymer layer and forming pin-holes. ZnO nanostructures layer was used to prevent pin-holes between the polymer layer and electrode. From the surface morphology of ZnO layer, it shows a uniform surface with particle grain size obtained between 50 -100 nm. The presence of the interlayer has a positive effect on the electrical characteristics of the solar cells. It was found that an organic solar cell with thickness less than 150 nm shows the optimum performance with efficiency of 0.0067% and Fill Factor (FF) of about 19.73
