Technical services operations comprise of ordering, claiming and receipt of materials, cataloging and classification of materials; and serials control. Beside these, other technical services operations contain circulation, documents, foreign language and special collections, and bibliographic instruction in technical services areas. This leads me to believe that the distinction between technical services and public or reader services in individual libraries is based on custom and tradition arising out of incidental circumstances, rather than on fundamental principle. In this article, I tried to provide some basic aspect regarding technical processing which help in maintaining the library bitterly. In this article, I include basic aspect of acquisition, classification, cataloguing and information retrieval. Beside this I tried to focus on library management software which is most important for technical processing now a day

Technical processing means library technical services and maintenance activities of a library\u27s collection. Behind the-scenes activities that a library undertakes to process library materials loaned for the public. Most technical services operations covered ordering, claiming and receipt of materials; cataloging, classification of materials; and serials control. Other technical services include the activities related to acquiring donated materials, and repairing and preservation of library materials. I have been studied technical processing of the five private university libraries of Assam. In my studied, I want to study on determine the acquisition policy and procedure about the library materials and through light about different procedure and practices about library classification and cataloguing

Enhanced adsorption of fluoride by common potters’clay surface modified by zirconium oxide particles

23-35The present study aims to enhance the fluoride removal capacity of a low cost material common potters’ clay by surface modification through oxidic particles. Zirconium oxide particles have been supported over the clay surface to achieve the objective. Results revealed that the adsorbent is very efficient in a wide pH range of 3-11.The adsorption process followed a Freundlich isotherm model signifying that the adsorption took place on the surface in a multilayer form. Kinetic study show that adsorption gained equilibrium within 120 min and it follow pseudo 2nd order kinetics. From this study, it is found that fluoride adsorptive power of common potters’ clay can be improved through surface modification of the clay by supporting ZrO2 particles

414-416An attempt has been made to study the folk medicine used by some rural people of the Lakhimpur district, Assam for the treatment of 14 different diseases like ascites, allergy, blood dysentery, cough, constipation, epilepsy, eczema, gastritis, gout, loss of appetite, loosening of teeth, piles, tonsillitis and pinworm infection, which are prevalent in the study areas

Root Word Stemming by Multiple Evidence from Corpus

We discuss problems that arise in morphological analysis of highly inflectional natural languages. We focus on word stemming, particularly the problem of identifying root words automatically when access to a substantive computational lexicon is unavailable

Ab initio molecular orbital and force field calculations on the interaction of daunomycin with GC base-pair and intercalation within DNA

1605-1610The intercalative binding of daunomycin within dG-dC oligonucleotides has been reported but the contribution of stacking interaction is not clearly known. So the stacking interaction between aglycon ring and GC base pair has been studied. The intercalated structure of daunomycin within dG-dC oligonucleotides is also studied by force field calculation. The stacking energy is found to be not so significant for the stabilization of aglycon ring within GC sequences. Both the stacked structure and the intercalated structure are stabilized at the non steric orientations and the approach of drug towards minor groove is found to be favourable for both the stacking interaction and the intercalation

Prediction of <i style="">pK</i>a from basic principles: <i>Ab initio</i> and DFT studies on some molecules

    No full text
520-525The quantum mechanical methodology based on the description of acid-base equilibrium for predicting pKa of some selected molecules with the continuum model of solvent polarization is shown. The method is useful for predicting pKa of selective molecules where the ionization of proton is basically controlled by the lone pair electrons of atomic site. However, it fails to predict pKa of strong and very weak acids. The differences in the experimental and theoretically obtained values are negligible. The applicability of this theory for estimating pKa values of molecules within the range of 4-5 is clearly demonstrated
