    Effect of suction chamber baffles on pressure fluctuations in a low specific speed centrifugal pump

    In order to study the effect of suction chamber baffles on hydraulic performance and unsteady characteristics in a low specific speed centrifugal pump, a model pump was design with enlarging flow mothed and four schemes of suction baffle, including no baffle (scheme 0), only one baffle in the suction (scheme 1), two baffles (scheme 2) and three baffles in the suction (scheme 3), were considered. Commercial code FLUENT was applied to simulate the flow of the pump. RNG k-ε turbulence model was adopted to handle with the turbulent flows in the pump. The sliding mesh technique was applied to take into account the impeller-volute interaction. Based on the simulation results, the hydraulic performance and pressure fluctuations were obtained and analyzed in detail. The head value of no baffle in the suction (scheme 0) is lower than that with baffles in the suction (scheme 1, scheme 2, scheme 3) at each condition point. Hump point in scheme 0 is at φ= 0.00596 (1.2 times Qo). The hump point in scheme 1, scheme 2, scheme 3 is at 0.8Qo, 1.0Qo, 1.0Qo, respectively. The ε value of scheme 1 is the smallest and that of scheme 0 is the largest in the four schemes. Six wave troughs are observed clearly at each monitoring point as the impeller rotates in a circle. Each time the impeller is turned 10 degrees, there are six obvious troughs around the impeller. With the rotation of the impeller, peak value of pressure fluctuations at blade passing frequency (BPF) is gradually decrease. At low flow (ϕ= 0.002383), the main frequency of pressure fluctuation at P36 and P1 under scheme 0, scheme 2 and scheme 3 is 295 Hz, which is corresponding to BPF. The pressure fluctuation levels are decreased by –2.72 %, –2.13 %, and –2.21 % respectively when the number of baffle in the suction is one, two, three, respectively. And decrease rate of pressure fluctuation (∆Cp) on scheme 1 is maximum. It indicates that Adding baffles to the suction chamber is beneficial to reduce the amplitude of pressure pulsation at BPF in the volute. The best number of baffles in the suction is one. Based on scheme 1 simulation results, the prototype was manufactured and the performance experiments were carried out. A good agreement of the head and efficiency between numerical results and experimental results are observed

    Simulation and Analysis of Fluid-Solid Coupling of Wave Impact Sandcastle Based on COMSOL

    It is a complex problem to study the interaction between sand castle and flowing water, which needs to consider the complexity of seawater flow and the stress of sand castle structure. The authors use the fluid-solid coupling model to establish the connection between the fluid field and the structural mechanical field, and use the finite element analysis to complete the simulation modeling of the transient process of wave impact and sandcastle foundation deformation. This paper analyzes the stress and the first principal strain of the sand castle foundation in the direction of flow velocity when the sand castle foundation is hit by waves, as a method to judge the strength of the sand castle.The best shape: the boundary value of sand castle collapse caused by strain have been determined, so as to obtain the maximum stress that a sand castle foundation can bear before collapse, which makes it possible to use the fatigue strength calculation theory of sand castle solid to carry out the quantitative calculation of sand castle durability. At the same time, the impact of waves is abstracted as wave motion equation. Finally, the finite element analysis technology is adopted to calculate the main strain of sandcastles of different shapes under the impact of the same wave, and through the comparison of the main strain, the authors get the sandcastle shape with the strongest anti-wave impact ability, which is the eccentric circular platform body.Affected by rain: the authors considered the effect of rainwater infiltration on the sandcastle's stress, and simplified the process of rain as a continuous and uniform infiltration of rain into the sandcastle's surface. The rain changes the gravity of the sand on the castle's surface. Simulation analysis is adopted to calculate the surface stress of sand castle with different degree of water seepage and different geometry. By comparison, it has been found that the smooth cone is more able to withstand the infiltration of rain without collapse.

    Responses of community traits and soil characteristics of Achnatherum inebrians-type degraded grassland to grazing systems in alpine meadows on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

    IntroductionScientific grazing management is of great significance for the ecological health and sustainable use of alpine meadows.MethodsTo explore appropriate management methods of alpine grasslands of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau degraded by Achnatherum inebrians (Hance) Keng ex Tzvele presence, we studied the effects of different grazing systems on the A. inebrians population, grassland vegetation community traits, soil characteristics and soil microbial community structure for cold- season grazing plus supplementary feeding pasture (CSF) and four-season open public pasture (FOP) in Tianzhu County, Gansu Province.ResultsCompared with FOP, the CSF site showed significantly inhibited reproduction of A. inebrians, especially the crown width, seed yield and number of reproductive branches per plant were as high as 50%, significantly increased the aboveground biomass of edible forage and soil water content by 57% and 43–55%, better soil nutrients, and significantly reduced soil bulk density by 10– 29%. Different grazing systems affected the composition and diversity of soil microbial communities, with a greater effect on fungi than on bacterial flora. The most abundant phyla of bacteria and fungi were Proteobacteria and Ascomycota for CSF (by 30–38% and 24–28%) and for FOP (by 67–70% and 68–73%), and the relative abundance and species of bacterial and fungal genera were greater for CSF than FOP. The α-diversity indexes of fungi were improved, and the β-diversity of fungi was significant difference between CSF and FOP. However, the grazing utilization time was prolonged in FOP, which reduced the diversity and abundance of soil bacteria and increased soil spatial heterogeneity. The use of A. inebrians-type degraded grassland in the cold season, and as a winter supplementary feeding and resting ground, could effectively inhibit expansion of A. inebrians, promote edible forage growth, enhance grassland productivity and community stability, and improve soil structure.     Capacitor Voltage Ripple and Harmonics Analysis in MMC

    [Introduction] The rapid development of VSC-HVDC provides practical support for MMC (Modular Multi-Level Converter) topology. Takes a half bridge MMC converter as an example, the relationship between steady-state capacitor voltage fluctuation, harmonic interaction, and bridge arm switching function of MMC is studied in order to provide theoretical support for MMC system design and control strategy. [Method] By establishing analytical expressions for the sub module capacitor voltage and bridge arm switch function, the mathematical approximate expressions for the energy fluctuation and capacitor voltage fluctuation of the upper and lower bridge arms of the MMC converter were obtained. Furthermore, the distribution law of harmonics in the upper and lower bridge arms current, AC (Alternating Current ) valve side, and DC (Direct Current) side, as well as the positive and negative sequence relationship of inter phase circulation were studied. Based on the harmonic formula, an estimation method for the secondary circulation was obtained; Furthermore, the variable comparison method was used to study the relationship between the switching function of the bridge arm and the voltage of the submodule capacitance with the valve side power factor and the size of the submodule capacitance. Finally, a detailed PSCAD/EMTDC model was built based on actual engineering parameters, and a consistency comparison between theoretical analysis and offline simulation was conducted. [Result] The research has shown that the inter phase circulating current of MMC only contains even harmonics, with 6k+2 circulating currents exhibiting negative sequence, 6k+4 circulating currents exhibiting positive sequence, and 6k circulating currents exhibiting zero sequence characteristics. At the same time, under steady-state conditions, the AC voltage and current flow at the outlet of MMC valve side only contains odd harmonics, while the DC voltage and current flow at MMC DC side only contains even harmonics, and at the power factor angle φ<0, the peak value of the bridge arm switch function will be greater than 1, and the peak voltage fluctuation of the module capacitor at low power factor is greater than that at high power factor. [Conclusion] Based on this, we can select and design capacitor for MMC inverters and carry out the transient stability strategies, also, master the operational characteristics of MMC topology through theoretical analysis

    Research on pressure fluctuation characteristics of a centrifugal pump with guide vane

    In order to study the pressure pulsation characteristics of a centrifugal pump with a guide vane, a pump with specific speed ns= 190 was chosen as the research object. The numerical simulation was carried out using the standard k-ε turbulence model. The pressure pulsation characteristic was researched at a set monitoring point. The reliability of the numerical simulation was verified with experiment results. The pressure pulsation characteristic curves of each calculation domain were obtained by dimensionless data processing. The results elucidate that the rotor/stator interaction at the outlet of the impeller is the main source for the pressure pulsation. With increasing distance, the pressure pulsation gradually decreases; the pressure pulsation amplitude of the pressure surface is larger than the suction surface; the pressure pulsation in the flow channel of the guide vane remains the same; the pressure fluctuation near the outlet of the annular volute chamber is larger, and the pressure pulsation near the upstream of the flow channel is quite complicated.     Anti-PD-L1/TGF-βR fusion protein (SHR-1701) overcomes disrupted lymphocyte recovery-induced resistance to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in lung cancer

    Background Second-generation programmed cell death-protein 1/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-1/PD-L1) inhibitors, such as bintrafusp alfa (M7824), SHR-1701, and YM101, have been developed to simultaneously block PD-1/PD-L1 and transforming growth factor-beta/transforming growth factor-beta receptor (TGF-β/TGF-βR). Consequently, it is necessary to identify predictive factors of lung cancer patients who are not only resistant to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors but also sensitive to bifunctional drugs. The purpose of this study was to search for such predictors. Methods Multivariable Cox regression was used to study the association between the clinical outcome of treatment with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors and lymphocyte recovery after lymphopenia in lung cancer patients. Murine CMT167 lung cancer cells were engineered to express the firefly luciferase gene and implanted orthotopically in the lung of syngeneic mice. Bioluminescence imaging, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry were employed to determine response to immunotherapy and function of tumor-infiltrating immune cells. Results For lung cancer patients treated with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies, poor lymphocyte recovery was associated with a shorter progression-free survival (PFS; P < 0.001), an accumulation of regulatory T cells (Tregs), and an elimination of CD8+ T cells in the peripheral blood. Levels of CD8+ T cells and Treg cells were also imbalanced in the tumors and peripheral immune organs of mice with poor lymphocyte recovery after chemotherapy. Moreover, these mice failed to respond to anti-PD-1 antibodies but remained sensitive to the anti-PD-L1/TGF-βR fusion protein (SHR-1701). Consistently, SHR-1701 but not anti-PD-1 antibodies, markedly enhanced IFN-γ production and Ki-67 expression in peripheral CD8+ T cells from patients with impaired lymphocyte recovery. Conclusions Lung cancer patients with poor lymphocyte recovery and suffering from persistent lymphopenia after previous chemotherapy are resistant to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies but might be sensitive to second-generation agents such as SHR-1701.publishedVersio

    Composite Edible Film Containing Microcapsules Composed of Shrimp-derived Bioactive Peptide Preparation and Preservation Potential

    Shrimp body had to face with spoilage and melanosis when it come to food preservation. In this study, a kind of composite edible film (CEF) composed of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) and shrimp-derived bioactive peptide microcapsule (SBPM), was developed to preserve the body of Penaeus vannamei. First of all, single-factor experiments were conducted by monitoring the mechanical performance and the water vapor permeability (WVP) of CEF, in order to investigate the influence of the dosages of HPMC, glycerol and SBPM, upon the formulation properties and mechanical strength of the film. The FTIR and free radical scavenging capacity of CEF were also determined when the SBPM addition changed and then, the optimum preparation process of CEF was ascertained based on the results mentioned above. In addition, the preservation-effect of CEF on fresh Penaeus vannamei was evaluated by inspecting some important items such as the sensory evaluation, pH, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) and aerobic bacterial count of shrimp flesh. The results of the single-factor experiments indicated the optimum amounts of HPMC, glycerol and SBPM were 12%, 0.4% and 3%, respectively, and the comprehensive performance of CEF was satisfied under this optimum condition. The antioxidant ability of CEF was excellent when the dosage of SBPM was not less than 3% and, the interaction between SBPM and other membrane fractions was powerful when the addition amount of SBPM came to be 3%~4%, which was indicated by the FTIR results. More importantly, the spoilage of shrimp body could be controlled by covering the body with CEF and, the sensory of seafood might be maintained by this film, as evidenced by the inhibitory effects of CEF on the raising of body pH, the jump of TVB-N and the increase of aerobic bacterial count in shrimp fresh. The quality guarantee period of fresh body in CEF group could be prolonged by 3~4 days as compared with that in unprotected group, while the overall freshness-keeping ablility of CEF was superior to that of HPMC film even PE film, indicating the potent protective effect of CEF on the fresh of Penaeus vannamei
