Torsion and divisibility for reciprocity sheaves and 0-cycles with modulus
The notion of modulus is a striking feature of Rosenlicht-Serre's theory of
generalized Jacobian varieties of curves. It was carried over to algebraic
cycles on general varieties by Bloch-Esnault, Park, R\"ulling, Krishna-Levine.
Recently, Kerz-Saito introduced a notion of Chow group of -cycles with
modulus in connection with geometric class field theory with wild ramification
for varieties over finite fields. We study the non-homotopy invariant part of
the Chow group of -cycles with modulus and show their torsion and
divisibility properties. Modulus is being brought to sheaf theory by
Kahn-Saito-Yamazaki in their attempt to construct a generalization of
Voevodsky-Suslin-Friedlander's theory of homotopy invariant presheaves with
transfers. We prove parallel results about torsion and divisibility properties
for them.Comment: 15 pages, exposition improve

Application of artificial sunlight for the elderly as a possible environmental nursing practice
Aging and aged societies have arrived in many countries where significant development of medicine and the economy has been achieved. Japan is a highly aged society with a shortage of carers both at home and in long-term care settings. In fact, more persons of advanced age who do not need intensive care in hospitals strongly desire health care to be delivered in their own home with their family. Environmental nursing practice, which means that nurses improve the environment of patients or the elderly properly in accordance with healthcare considerations, is currently playing a more important role, not only to prevent the elderly from contracting various diseases, but also to provide a facility for supporting an aged person to live a fulfilling life, preferably one that includes independence. This approach will lead to a reduction in medical expenditure by increasing the number of aged people with healthy longevity without the need for hospitalization or intensive care. This short communication focuses on healthy lighting for the elderly based on our research and experience regarding the beneficial effects of artificial sunlight on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), asthma and food allergy, and ulcerative colitis in experimental animal models and clinical settings. Then, we review other studies and discuss how artificial sunlight would be useful for the elderly as one of the environmental nursing practices
Fast WDM provisioning with minimal probing: the first field experiments for DC exchanges
We propose an approach to estimate the end-to-end GSNR accurately in a short
time when a data center interconnect (DCI) network operator receives a service
request from users, not by measuring the GSNR at the operational route and
wavelength for the End-End optical path but by simply applying a QoT probe
channel link by link, at a convenient wavelength/modulation-format for
measurement. Assuming connections between coherent transceivers of various
frequency ranges, modulators, and modulation formats, we propose a new device
software architecture in which the DCI network operator optimizes the
transmission mode between user transceivers with high accuracy using only
standard parameters such as Bit Error Rate. In this paper, we first
experimentally built three different routes of 32 km/72 km/122 km in the C-band
to confirm the accuracy of this approach. For the operational end-to-end GSNR
measurements, the accuracy estimated from the sum of the measurements for each
link was 0.6 dB, and the wavelength-dependent error was about 0.2 dB. Then,
using field fibers deployed in the NSF COSMOS testbed (deployed in an urban
area), a Linux-based transmission device software architecture, and coherent
transceivers with different optical frequency ranges, modulators, and
modulation formats, the fast WDM provisioning of an optical path was completed
within 6 minutes (with a Q-factor error of about 0.7 dB).Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures, 3 table
