Hydrogen Embrittlement Behavior of 18Ni 300 Maraging Steel Produced by Selective Laser Melting
A study was performed to investigate the hydrogen embrittlement behavior of 18-Ni 300 maraging steel produced by selective laser melting and subjected to different heat treatment strategies. Hydrogen was pre-charged into the tensile samples by an electro-chemical method at the constant current density of 1 A m(-2) and 50 A m(-2) for 48 h at room temperature. Charged and uncharged specimens were subjected to tensile tests and the hydrogen concentration was eventually analysed using quadrupole mass spectroscopy. After tensile tests, uncharged maraging samples showed fracture surfaces with dimples. Conversely, in H-charged alloys, quasi-cleavage mode fractures occurred. A lower concentration of trapped hydrogen atoms and higher elongation at fracture were measured in the H-charged samples that were subjected to solution treatment prior to hydrogen charging, compared to the as-built counterparts. Isothermal aging treatment performed at 460 degrees C for 8 h before hydrogen charging increased the concentration of trapped hydrogen, giving rise to higher hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility.11Ysciescopu
Advances in next-generation sequencing and emerging technologies for hematologic malignancies
Innovations in molecular diagnostics have often evolved through the study of hematologic malignancies. Examples include the pioneering characterization of the Philadelphia chromosome by cytogenetics in the 1970s, the implementation of polymerase chain reaction for high-sensitivity detection and monitoring of mutations and, most recently, targeted next- generation sequencing to drive the prognostic and therapeutic assessment of leukemia. Hematologists and hematopath- ologists have continued to advance in the past decade with new innovations improving the type, amount, and quality of data generated for each molecule of nucleic acid. In this review article, we touch on these new developments and discuss their implications for diagnostics in hematopoietic malignancies. We review advances in sequencing platforms and library preparation chemistry that can lead to faster turnaround times, novel sequencing techniques, the development of mobile laboratories with implications for worldwide benefits, the current status of sample types, improvements to quality and reference materials, bioinformatic pipelines, and the integration of machine learning and artificial intelligence into mol- ecular diagnostic tools for hematologic malignancies
Test of Factorization Hypothesis from Exclusive Non-leptonic B decays
We investigate the possibility of testing factorization hypothesis in
non-leptonic exclusive decays of B-meson. In particular, we considered the non
factorizable \bar{B^0} -> D^{(*)+} D_s^{(*)-} modes and \bar{B^0} -> D^{(*)+}
(\pi^-, \rho^-) known as well-factorizable modes. By taking the ratios
BR(\bar{B^0}-> D^{(*)+}D_s^{(*)-})/BR(\bar{B^0}-> D^{(*)+}(\pi^-,\rho^-)), we
found that under the present theoretical and experimental uncertainties there's
no evidence for the breakdown of factorization description to heavy-heavy
decays of the B meson.Comment: 11 pages; submitted to PR

Flavour Changing Neutral Current decays of the -meson are a very useful
tool for studying possible physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model (SM),
where of the many FCNC modes radiative, purely leptonic and semi-leptonic
decays of the -meson are relatively clean tests. Within this context the
BELLE collaboration has searched for the process and
provided an upper bound on this decay. In this work we have used this upper
bound in studying the angular coorelations for the related semi-leptonic decay
mode , where we have used the form
factors that have already been estimated for the mode.
Note that the additional form factors that are required were calculated using
the Large Energy Effective Theory (LEET).Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure
Emergence of quasi-metallic state in disordered 2D electron gas due to strong interactions
The interrelation between disorder and interactions in two dimensional
electron liquid is studied beyond weak coupling perturbation theory. Strong
repulsion significantly reduces the electronic density of states on the Fermi
level. This makes the electron liquid more rigid and strongly suppresses
elastic scattering off impurities. As a result the weak localization, although
ultimately present at zero temperature and infinite sample size, is
unobservable at experimentally accessible temperature at high enough densities.
Therefore practically there exists a well defined metallic state. We study
diffusion of electrons in this state and find that the diffusion pole is
significantly modified due to "mixture" with static photons similar to the
Anderson - Higgs mechanism in superconductivity. As a result several effects
stemming from the long range nature of diffusion like the Aronov - Altshuler
logarithmic corrections to conductivity are less pronounced.Comment: to appear in Phys. Rev.
Coronin-1C Protein and Caveolin Protein Provide Constitutive and Inducible Mechanisms of Rac1 Protein Trafficking
Sustained directional fibroblast migration requires both polarized activation of the protrusive signal, Rac1, and redistribution of inactive Rac1 from the rear of the cell so that it can be redistributed or degraded. In this work, we determine how alternative endocytic mechanisms dictate the fate of Rac1 in response to the extracellular matrix environment. We discover that both coronin-1C and caveolin retrieve Rac1 from similar locations at the rear and sides of the cell. We find that coronin-1C-mediated extraction, which is responsible for Rac1 recycling, is a constitutive process that maintains Rac1 protein levels within the cell. In the absence of coronin-1C, the effect of caveolin-mediated endocytosis, which targets Rac1 for proteasomal degradation, becomes apparent. Unlike constitutive coronin-1C-mediated trafficking, caveolin-mediated Rac1 endocytosis is induced by engagement of the fibronectin receptor syndecan-4. Such an inducible endocytic/degradation mechanism would predict that, in the presence of fibronectin, caveolin defines regions of the cell that are resistant to Rac1 activation but, in the absence of fibronectin leaves more of the membrane susceptible to Rac1 activation and protrusion. Indeed, we demonstrate that fibronectin-stimulated activation of Rac1 is accelerated in the absence of caveolin and that, when caveolin is knocked down, polarization of active Rac1 is lost in FRET experiments and culminates in shunting migration in a fibrous fibronectin matrix. Although the concept of polarized Rac1 activity in response to chemoattractants has always been apparent, our understanding of the balance between recycling and degradation explains how polarity can be maintained when the chemotactic gradient has faded
The BV Formalization of Chern-Simons Theory on Deformed Superspace
In this paper we will study non-abelian Chern-Simons theory on a deformed
superspace. We will deform the superspace in such a way that it includes the
noncommutativity between bosonic and fermionic coordinates. We will first
analyse the BRST and the anti-BRST symmetries of the Chern-Simons theory on
this deformed superspace. Then we will analyse the extended BRST and the
extended anti-BRST symmetries of this theory in the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV)
formalism. Finally, we will express these extended BRST and extended anti-BRST
symmetries in extended superspace formalism by introducing new Grassmann
coordinates.Comment: 19 pages, 0 figures, accepted for publication in Comm. Theor. Phy
Measurement of the Branching Fraction for B->eta' K and Search for B->eta'pi+
We report measurements for two-body charmless B decays with an eta' meson in
the final state. Using 11.1X10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector,
we find BF(B^+ ->eta'K^+)=(79^+12_-11 +-9)x10^-6 and BF(B^0 ->
eta'K^0)=(55^+19_-16 +-8)x10^-6, where the first and second errors are
statistical and systematic, respectively. No signal is observed in the mode B^+
-> eta' pi^+, and we set a 90% confidence level upper limit of BF(B^+->
eta'pi^+) eta'K^+- decays is
investigated and a limit at 90% confidence level of -0.20<Acp<0.32 is obtained.Comment: Submitted to Physics Letters
