    Simultaneous VLBI Astrometry of H2O and SiO Masers toward the Semiregular Variable R Crateris

    We obtained, for the first time, astrometrically registered maps of the 22.2 GHz H2O and 42.8, 43.1, and 86.2 GHz SiO maser emission toward the semiregular b-type variable (SRb) R Crateris, at three epochs (2015 May 21, and 2016 January 7 and 26) using the Korean Very-long-baseline Interferometry Network. The SiO masers show a ring-like spatial structure, while the H2O maser shows a very asymmetric one-side outflow structure, which is located at the southern part of the ring-like SiO maser feature. We also found that the 86.2 GHz SiO maser spots are distributed in an inner region, compared to those of the 43.1 GHz SiO maser, which is different from all previously known distributions of the 86.2 GHz SiO masers in variable stars. The different distribution of the 86.2 GHz SiO maser seems to be related to the complex dynamics caused by the overtone pulsation mode of the SRb R Crateris. Furthermore, we estimated the position of the central star based on the ring fitting of the SiO masers, which is essential for interpreting the morphology and kinematics of a circumstellar envelope.     Without a doubt, the heavy use of artificial intelligence (AI) will be involved in the future of work. Pertinent to the deployment of AI in organizations, algorithmic control is the managerial use of intelligent algorithms as a means to align individual worker behaviors with organizational objectives. While algorithmic control may facilitate efficient management of workers, it also leads to intrusive and unilateral exertion of controls over workers, also known as “algorithm as boss” phenomenon. In this study, we attempt to understand the outcomes and tradeoffs that different configurations between the AI and gig workers would produce, by conducting a randomized field experiment with one of the largest delivery rider labor unions in Asia. Overall, our study suggests that providing collaborative algorithmic control not only increases gig workers’ utility in terms of monetary rewards but also enhances their intrinsic rewards, which has the potential to benefit the gig platform as well

    The Influence Of Job Insecurity On Career Commitment And Attitude In Multinational Corporations

    As the perception of lifelong work shifts into lifelong career in the job insecurity market, the career development of employees through professional and competitive career management has become more important than being loyal to a lifelong work. Furthermore, in the case of multinational corporations, such as differentiation from the head office policy, cultural differences in labor relations, and the liquidity of business withdrawal, such a feature has a higher possibility of job insecurity than general companies. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to verify empirically how job insecurity influences career commitment and career attitude through individual, job and career characteristics as intermediation with the members of multinational corporations as objectives. For this purpose, a total of 366 questionnaire data that targeted 27 multinational corporations were collected and analyzed. The result shows that the job insecurity of multinational corporations affects individual characteristic rather than job or career characteristic, and it is confirmed that individual characteristic has an effect on career commitment and career attitude. In the end, multinational corporations, unlike ordinary domestic companies, need active organizational career development program that corresponds to an open corporate culture as well as innovative and open systems and policies that balance both internal and external networking activities in terms of human resource management of corporations

    Selective uptake of epidermal growth factor-conjugated gold nanoparticle (EGF-GNP) facilitates non-thermal plasma (NTP)-mediated cell death

    Non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma (NTP) has been shown to induce cell death in various mammalian cancer cells. Accumulated evidence also shows that NTP could be clinically used in cancer therapy. However, the current NTP-based applications lack target specificity. Here, a novel method in NTP-mediated cancer therapeutics was described with enhanced target specificity by treating EGF (epidermal growth factor)-conjugated GNP (gold nanoparticle). The treatment with EGF-conjugated GNP complex, followed by NTP irradiation showed selective apoptosis of cells having receptor-mediated endocytosis. NTP triggered gamma-H2AX elevation which is a typical response elicited by DNA damage. These results suggest that EGF-conjugated GNP functions as an important adjuvant which gives target specificity in applications of conventional plasma therapy.111Ysciescopu

    Intracranial hypotension is characterized by a postural headache which is relieved in a supine position and worsened in a sitting or standing position. Although less commonly reported than postural headache, sixth nerve palsy has also been observed in intracranial hypotension. The epidural blood patch (EBP) has been performed for postdural puncture headache, but little is known about the proper timing of EBP in the treatment of sixth nerve palsy due to intracranial hypotension. This article reports a case of sixth nerve palsy due to spontaneous intracranial hypotension which was treated by EBP 10 days after the onset of palsy
