    5M: Multi-Instance Multi-Cluster based Weakly Supervised MIL Model for Multimedia Data Mining

    The high pace rise in online as well as offline multimedia unannotated data and associated mining applications have demanded certain efficient mining algorithm. Multiple instance learning (MIL) has emerged as one of the most effective solutions for huge unannotated data mining. Still, it requires enhancement in instance selection to enable optimal mining and classification of huge multimedia data. Considering critical multimedia mining applications, such as medical data processing or content based information retrieval, the instance verification can be of great significance to optimize MIL. With this motivation, in this paper, Multi-Instance, Multi-Cluster based MIL scheme (MIMC-MIL) has been proposed to perform efficient multimedia data mining and classification with huge unannotated data with different features.     COVID-19 Vaccine Effectiveness in Preventing Severe Infections and Mortality among Patients in Kerala, India.

    ABSTRACT Background: India has a top status among world countries, related to the COVID-19 mortality that had crossed the 3-lakh level. The second wave of COVID19 had ravaged the world countries, created havoc of the highest order, leaving many hapless, thanks to the low availability of oxygen, ICU facilities, vaccines and counselling prospects. There is a lack of information about how COVID-19 vaccines have affected mortality in specific geographic areas. Method: A Retrospective record-based design. Patients were matched for age, sex, ethnicity, co-morbidities and grouped into fully immunized, partially immunized and non-immunized. The primary outcome was in-hospital deaths and secondary outcome was severe covid infections. (Severe covid infections are defined as Category C in WHO and ICMR classification) Results: Vaccines administered in standard dosage confer considerable benefit by reducing severe illness, hospitalization and death. This is clearly visible by the lower proportions of those with hypoxia, high levels of markers, those requiring ICU support and death in vaccinated individuals. The type of vaccine administered did not have any influence on the severity and outcome of illness. Conclusion: The second wave that peaked in May 2021 would have been less disastrous had more people been vaccinated. Without a reimagined vaccination strategy, reaching the desired full vaccination status was a difficult endeavor. The signs are unmistakable that a combined approach involving swift vaccination and scientific measures to curb transmission holds great promise. A zero covid world looks less imminent. But humans can make the microbe less lethal

    Development and evaluation of ready to serve (RTS) beverage from bael (Aegle marmelose Correa.)

    A research study was carried out to develop a RTS beverage by exploiting the nutritional and organoleptic properties of bael fruit pulp. Six treatment combinationsof bael RTS with 10, 15 and 20% of pulp concentration and 10 and 15°B of TSS were prepared based on the review of literature. The biochemical and organoleptic properties of the prepared RTS were evaluated during storage. The pH, ascorbic acid and antioxidant activity of the RTS decreased with the storage, while acidity and total sugars increased. Results of the sensory evaluation showed that there was a significant difference between treatments in terms of color, flavor, taste, body and overall acceptability. From the results of quality assessments, the formulated bael RTS beverage with 15% pulp and 15°B TSS was found to be superior and suitable for consumption up to 12 weeks without any significant changes in the quality characteristics

    In today's generation, the demand for data rates has also increased due to the rapid surge in the number of users. With this increasing growth, there is a need to develop the next fifth generation network keeping in mind the need to replace the current 4G cellular network. The fifth generation (5G) design in mobile communication technology has been developed keeping in mind all the communication needs of the users. Heterogeneous Cloud Radio Access Network (H-CRAN) has emerged as a capable architecture for the newly emerging network infrastructure for energy efficient networks and high data rate enablement. It is considered as the main technology. Better service quality has been achieved by developing small cells into macro cells through this type of network. In addition, the reuse of radio resources is much better than that of homogeneous networks. In the present paper, we propose the H-CRAN energy-efficient methods. This energy-efficient algorithm incorporates an energy efficient resource allocation management design to deal to heterogeneous cloud radio access networks in 5G. System throughput fulfillment is elevating by incorporating an efficient resource allocation design by the energy consumption model. The simulation results have been demonstrated by comparing the efficiency of the introduced design with the existing related design

    Biochemical characterization of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense isolates from India

    The Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxyspoum f. sp. cubense (Foc) is a major biotic constraint for banana production. The characteristics of F. oxyspoum f. sp. cubense isolates were investigated using electrophoretic studies of isozyme and whole-cell protein. The morphological characteristics of the isolates were very similar to each other. All the Foc isolates were pathogenic to banana cultivar 'Nanjangud Rasabale' but they did not induce any disease symptoms on cultivar 'Cavendish'. F. oxyspoum (Isolate 6) did not induce wilt symptoms on either 'Nanjangud' or 'Cavendish' cultivar. Isozyme banding patterns showed 46 scoreable markers and cluster analysis with UPGMA using genetic distance showed that the isolates belonged to three main groups. Group 1 contained isolates 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and isolate 3 and 6 were placed in group 2 and 3. Results indicated that the estimated intra-specific variation may be more pronounced with isozyme analysis than with protein markers. The level of isozyme variability detected within F. oxysporum f.sp. cubense suggested that it is reliable, efficient and effective in determining genetic relationships among Foc isolates

    Seed Longevity in Legumes: Deeper Insights Into Mechanisms and Molecular Perspectives

    Sustainable agricultural production largely depends upon the viability and longevity of high-quality seeds during storage. Legumes are considered as rich source of dietary protein that helps to ensure nutritional security, but associated with poor seed longevity that hinders their performance and productivity in farmer's fields. Seed longevity is the key determinant to assure proper seed plant value and crop yield. Thus, maintenance of seed longevity during storage is of prime concern and a pre-requisite for enhancing crop productivity of legumes. Seed longevity is significantly correlated with other seed quality parameters such as germination, vigor, viability and seed coat permeability that affect crop growth and development, consequently distressing crop yield. Therefore, information on genetic basis and regulatory networks associated with seed longevity, as well as molecular dissection of traits linked to longevity could help in developing crop varieties with good storability. Keeping this in view, the present review focuses towards highlighting the molecular basis of seed longevity, with special emphasis on candidate genes and proteins associated with seed longevity and their interplay with other quality parameters. Further, an attempt was made to provide information on 3D structures of various genetic loci (genes/proteins) associated to seed longevity that could facilitate in understanding the interactions taking place within the seed at molecular level. This review compiles and provides information on genetic and genomic approaches for the identification of molecular pathways and key players involved in the maintenance of seed longevity in legumes, in a holistic manner. Finally, a hypothetical fast-forward breeding pipeline has been provided, that could assist the breeders to successfully develop varieties with improved seed longevity in legumes

    A Roadmap for Unified Ocean Modeling and Forecasting system for INCOIS

    INCOIS, being the nodal organization to provide operational oceanographic services, is actively involved in the numerical modeling of ocean circulation, waves, tsunami and storm-surge as well as regional coupled ocean-atmosphere models for the prediction of track and intensity of tropical cyclones. In order to optimise the models used in INCOIS for these activities and to make a seamless prediction system from global to regional domains, it was decided to have a revisit on the ocean modeling efforts of INCOIS. Outcome of this review as well as a proposal to develop a seamless prediction system is documented in this report. It is envisaged that this document will be used as a guideline for the future ocean modeling efforts in INCOI
