Insights from ARPES for an undoped, four-layered, two-gap high-T_c superconductor
An undoped cuprate with apical fluorine and inner (i) and outer (o)
CuO2-layers is a 60 K superconductor whose Fermi surface (FS) has large n- and
p-doped sheets with the SC gap on the n-sheet twice that on the p -sheet (Y.
Chen et al.). The Fermi surface is not reproduced by the LDA, but the screening
must be substantially reduced due to electronic correlations, and oxygen in the
o-layers must be allowed to dimple outwards. This charges the i-layers by
0.01|e|, causes an 0.4 eV Madelung-potential difference between the i and o
-layers, quenches the i-o hopping, and localizes the n-sheets onto the
i-layers, thus protecting their d-wave pairs from being broken by scattering on
impurities in the BaF layers. The correlation-reduced screening strengthens the
coupling to z-axis phonons.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Verifying continuous-variable entanglement in finite spaces
Starting from arbitrary Hilbert spaces, we reduce the problem to verify
entanglement of any bipartite quantum state to finite dimensional subspaces.
Hence, entanglement is a finite dimensional property. A generalization for
multipartite quantum states is also given.Comment: 4 page
Effect of non-magnetic impurities on the magnetic states of anatase TiO
The electronic and magnetic properties of TiO, TiO,
TiON, and TiOF compounds have been studied
by using \emph{ab initio} electronic structure calculations. TiO is found
to evolve from a wide-band-gap semiconductor to a narrow-band-gap semiconductor
to a half-metallic state and finally to a metallic state with oxygen vacancy,
N-doping and F-doping, respectively. Present work clearly shows the robust
magnetic ground state for N- and F-doped TiO. The N-doping gives rise to
magnetic moment of 0.4 at N-site and 0.1 each at
two neighboring O-sites, whereas F-doping creates a magnetic moment of
0.3 at the nearest Ti atom. Here we also discuss the possible
cause of the observed magnetic states in terms of the spatial electronic charge
distribution of Ti, N and F atoms responsible for bond formation.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures To appear J. Phys.: Condens. Matte
Covariance matrices and the separability problem
We propose a unifying approach to the separability problem using covariance
matrices of locally measurable observables. From a practical point of view, our
approach leads to strong entanglement criteria that allow to detect the
entanglement of many bound entangled states in higher dimensions and which are
at the same time necessary and sufficient for two qubits. From a fundamental
perspective, our approach leads to insights into the relations between several
known entanglement criteria -- such as the computable cross norm and local

Eigenvalues of Ruijsenaars-Schneider models associated with root system in Bethe ansatz formalism
Ruijsenaars-Schneider models associated with root system with a
discrete coupling constant are studied. The eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian are
givein in terms of the Bethe ansatz formulas. Taking the "non-relativistic"
limit, we obtain the spectrum of the corresponding Calogero-Moser systems in

Dynamic approach for micromagnetics close to the Curie temperature
In conventional micromagnetism magnetic domain configurations are calculated
based on a continuum theory for the magnetization which is assumed to be of
constant length in time and space. Dynamics is usually described with the
Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation the stochastic variant of which includes
finite temperatures. Using simulation techniques with atomistic resolution we
show that this conventional micromagnetic approach fails for higher
temperatures since we find two effects which cannot be described in terms of
the LLG equation: i) an enhanced damping when approaching the Curie temperature
and, ii) a magnetization magnitude that is not constant in time. We show,
however, that both of these effects are naturally described by the
Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch equation which links the LLG equation with the theory of
critical phenomena and turns out to be a more realistic equation for
magnetization dynamics at elevated temperatures
Phase cascade lattice rectifier array: an exactly solvable nonlinear network circuit
An exact analysis of a 2-D lattice network consisting of N × N sites with rectifier and AC source elements with controllable phases reveals a method for generating ripple-free DC power without the use of any filtering circuit elements. A phase cascade configuration is described in which the current ripple in a load resistor goes to zero in the large N limit, enhancing the rectification efficiency without requiring any additional capacitor or inductor based filters. The integrated modular configuration is qualitatively different from conventional rectenna arrays in which the source, rectifier and filter systems are physically disjoint. Nonlinear networks in the large N limit of source-rectifier arrays are potentially of interest to a fast evolving field of distributed power networks.MNacknowledges support from a Graduate Fellowship in the ECE department at Boston University. Nonlinear entanglement witnesses, covariance matrices and the geometry of separable states
Entanglement witnesses provide a standard tool for the analysis of
entanglement in experiments. We investigate possible nonlinear entanglement
witnesses from several perspectives. First, we demonstrate that they can be
used to show that the set of separable states has no facets. Second, we give a
new derivation of nonlinear witnesses based on covariance matrices. Finally, we
