Cytherean crustal bending at Salme Dorsa

    Get PDF
The Salme ridge belt can be interpreted as being the leading edge of a venusian crustal unit that moved against the highland foreland unit. It is indicative of a compressional zone, with a thrust front facing west. The Salme ridge belt with adjoining structures is an evident indication of lateral stresses and adjoining crustal movements on Venus. It supports the idea of southeast compression against and over the foreland planitia, which has bent under the load and/or lateral stress, resulting in trough and bulge formation in front of the ridge belt. The origin of the driving force for the movements remains masked. Laima Tessera is located in the direction from which the thrust is thought to apply but there are no appropriate candidates for a rift zone although a thrust from the southeast would be in good agreement with structures of Laima Tessera. The temperature gradient suggests that the lithosphere is approximately 12 km thick, while its elastic layer is approximately 3 km thick based either on the load-induced flexure model or on the compressional buckling model

Fractal geometry of some Martian lava flow margins: Alba Patera

    Get PDF
Fractal dimension for a few lava flow margins on the gently sloping flanks of Alba Patera were measured using the structured walk method. Fractal behavior was observed at scales ranging from 20 to 100 pixels. The upper limit of the linear part of log(margin length) vs. log(scale) profile correlated well to the margin length. The lower limit depended on resolution and flow properties

Tectonics of Neyterkob corona on Venus

    Get PDF
Neyterkob double corona (50 deg N 202 deg) presents an area of corona-related interfering tectonic patterns which are formed in different phases of evolution of the corona and modified by regional stresses. Analyzing the patterns can reveal something about the coronal formation. Tectonic features form distinct units on topographic depressions, slopes, and volcanic flows extending over one radius of the corona. A remarkable amount of compressional features were found near the rim and related to interaction between adjacent coronae. Radial extension was mainly observed on a peculiar NE-SW trending high crossing the corona. Concentric fractures were found to the east partly connected to the lithospheric flexure. Tectonic features indicate movements of volcanic activity and modification of the area by more regional stresses

Regression Test Selection Tool for Python in Continuous Integration Process

    Get PDF
In this paper, we present a coverage-based regression test selection (RTS) approach and a developed tool for Python. The tool can be used either on a developer's machine or on build servers. A special characteristic of the tool is the attention to easy integration to continuous integration and deployment. To evaluate the performance of the proposed approach, mutation testing is applied to three open-source projects, and the results of the execution of full test suites are compared to the execution of a set of tests selected by the tool. The missed fault rate of the test selection varies between 0-2% at file-level granularity and 16-24% at line-level granularity. The high missed fault rate at the line-level granularity is related to the selected basic mutation approach and the result could be improved with advanced mutation techniques. Depending on the target optimization metric (time or precision) in DevOps/MLOps process the error rate could be acceptable or further improved by using file-level granularity based test selection.Peer reviewe

Antimicrobial activity of commercial organic honeys against clinical isolates of human pathogenic bacteria

Publisher Copyright: © 2022, The Author(s).Extracts of five organic and one conventional honey sources, available in Finnish markets, were tested for antimicrobial activity and inhibitory concentrations against Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis, obtained from human specimens. Five (honeys A, B, D, E, F) of the six studied honeys were organic. All the studied honeys had inhibitory activity (zone of inhibition (ZI) > 9.4 ± 0.5 mm) compared to control artificial honey (ZI 13.3 mm against all the studied bacteria with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 12.5–50%. Against E. coli, the organic honeys E and F had activity index (AI) of 0.64 and 0.73, respectively, compared to the antibiotic AI of 1.0. Against S. Typhi, the organic honeys D and F had AI of 0.59 and 0.64, respectively. Against P. aeruginosa, the organic honeys D, E, and F had the highest AI of 0.71–0.80, and against S. epidermidis the honeys B, D, E, and F possessed relatively high AI of 0.60, 0.67, 0.73, and 0.78, respectively. Against K. pneumoniae and B. cereus, the detected AI of the organic honeys B, D, E, and F varied between AI of 0.48 and 0.58. The organic honey A and conventionally produced honey C possessed only minor activity with MIC values of 80%. Here, we show that commercially available culinary organic honeys possess remarkable antimicrobial activity against several important human bacterial pathogens.Peer reviewe

Antimalarial Activity of Croton macrostachyus Stem Bark Extracts against Plasmodium berghei In Vivo

    Get PDF
There is an increasing need for innovative drug and prophylaxis discovery against malaria. The aim of the present study was to test in vivo antiplasmodial activity of Croton macrostachyus H. (Euphorbiaceae) stem bark extracts from Kenyan folkloric medicine. Inbred Balb/c mice were inoculated with erythrocytes parasitized with Plasmodium berghei (ANKA). Different doses (500, 250, and 100mg/kg) of C. macrostachyus ethyl acetate, methanol, aqueous, and isobutanol extracts were administrated either after inoculation (Peters' 4-day suppressive test) or before inoculation (chemoprotective test) of the parasitized erythrocytes. All the extracts showed significant suppression of parasitemia compared to control (PPeer reviewe
