    A generalized form of Reynolds equation for two symmetrical surfaces is taken by considering velocity-slip at the bearing surfaces. This equation is applied to study the effects of velocity-slip and viscosity variation for the lubrication of squeeze films between two circular plates. Expressions for the load capacity and squeezing time obtained are also studied theoretically for various parameters. The load capacity and squeezing time decreases due to slip. They increase due to the presence of high viscous layer near the surface and decrease due to low viscous layer

    Introduction- Several materials have been introduced in dentistry for dentures for over last century. Poly Ether Ether Ketone (PEEK) has adequate flexural strength as a denture base and thereby prolonging its clinical longevity and also overcoming the most common reason for failure of Poly Methyl Metha Acrylate (PMMA) denture base that frequently results in the fracture. Aim- The aim and objective of the present study is to evaluate and compare the flexural strength and hardness of heat-cured PMMA denture base with PEEK. Material and methods- The sample size comprised of 60 samples of PMMA and PEEK which were prepared and divided into two groups i.e.; group I and group II respectively, of 30 each. Both the groups were further divided into subgroups consisting of 15 samples of PMMA and PEEK. The flexural strength was test in group I specimens by universal testing machine (UTM), and group II samples was subjected to hardness test using Vickers microhardness tester. The values were analysed statistically. The unpaired t-test was done for comparison of flexural strength and hardness of PEEK and PMMA.Result-The flexural strength of PEEK was 185 MPa, while that of PMMA was 85 MPa

Results: Among the organic and inorganic mulch treatments, the results reported that the silver- black polyethylene mulch recorded the highest fruit quality, soil analysis and benefit-cost ratio compared to other mulches

    Atrial septal defects: Pattern, clinical profile, surgical techniques and outcome at Innova heart hospital: A 4-year review

    Background: Atrial septal defect (ASD) is a congenital heart defect that leads to shunting of blood between left and right atria. It may be asymptomatic and sometimes may present with heart failure. Surgical repair is definitive, but currently non-surgical procedure is used to close the defect. Materials and Methods: It is a retrospective study of patients who underwent transcatheter closure of ASD at Innova Heart Hospital, Hyderabad, India. Echocardiography was repeated at intervals of 24 hours, then at 1, 3 and 6 months after the procedure to assess complications. The morphological characteristics of the ASD, including its diameter, location, shape and the width of surrounding septal margins, were also evaluated. Results: From April 2007 to June 2011, 69 consecutive children (29 males, 40 females) with a median age of 9.0 years (range = 3.2-19 years) registered with diagnosis of ASD. The median weight was 31.5 kg (range = 7.5-39.0 kg). Five patients (7.2%) were young children aged 3-5 years. Forty-four (63.8%) of these children presented with symptoms of heart failure, whereas 47 (68.1%) of the cases repaired with device were large-sized ASD. The most common interventional procedures done were Searcare HeartĀ® and AmplatzerĀ® technique with a highest success rate obtained in 2010. Conclusions: ASD is a common congenital heart disease with a high success rate for those who undergo intervention

    Design, synthesis and characterization of novel paracetamol derivatives to target breast cancer

    1257-1272Most breast cancers are Estrogen Receptor-positive type. In the mammary epithelial, estrogen controls many cellular activities such as proliferation, differentiation and migration. There are two genetically distinct and functional estrogen receptors (ERs), ERĪ± and ERĪ², belonging to the superfamily of nuclear receptors for steroid/thyroid harmones. Estrogenexert its functions in different tissues by binding with its receptors, including alpha and beta (ERĪ± and ERĪ²). Estrogen Receptor alpha (ERĪ±) controls breast tissue development and progression of breast cancer. Paracetamol is one of the most widely used medicines. A recent experimental study suggests that paracetamol may have several pharmacological effects other than its well known analgesic/antipyretic properties. The docking study was performed on different paracetamol derivatives using Schrodinger 2015 (maestro 10.1) on Human Estrogen Receptor Alpha Ligand-Binding Domain (1XP6) and Endothelial nitric oxide synthase (3NLE). The inĀ silico studies indicate that N-(4-((1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methoxy)phenyl) acetamide derivatives exhibit comparable docking score and good hydrogen bond interactions at Ligand binding domain of ERĪ± and 3NLE. Based on the docking studies, a new series of N-(4-((1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methoxy)phenyl) acetamide derivatives have been synthesized by employing click chemistry approach. Nine compounds have been evaluated for their cytotoxicity in MCF-7 cell line and anti oxidant activity. Many of the synthesized compounds exhibit potent cytotoxic and anti oxidant activity. In particular 5c, 5g, and 5b compounds show most potent cytotoxicity with IC50 value of 19.83, 20.57, 20.83 Āµg/mL respectively and 5e and 5f show most potent anti oxidant activity with IC50 value of 0.4, 0.5 Āµg/mL respectively
