    Strong Coupling Constants of Decuplet Baryons with Vector Mesons

    We provide a comprehensive study of strong coupling constants of decuplet baryons with light nonet vector mesons in the framework of light cone QCD sum rules. Using the symmetry arguments, we argue that all coupling constants entering the calculations can be expressed in terms of only one invariant function even if the SU(3)fSU(3)_f symmetry breaking effects are taken into account. We estimate the order of SU(3)fSU(3)_f symmetry violations, which are automatically considered by the employed approach.Comment: 19 Pages, 4 Figures and 5 Table

    Pseudoscalar--meson decuplet--baryon coupling constants in light cone QCD

    Taking into account the SU(3)fSU(3)_f breaking effects, the strong coupling constants of the π\pi, KK and η\eta mesons with decuplet baryons are calculated within light cone QCD sum rules method. It is shown that all coupling constants, even in the case of SU(3)fSU(3)_f breaking, are described in terms of only one universal function. It is shown that for Ξ∗0→Ξ∗0η\Xi^{\ast 0} \to \Xi^{\ast 0} \eta transition violation of SU(3)fSU(3)_f symmetry is very large and for other channels when SU(3)fSU(3)_f symmetry is violated, its maximum value constitutes 1010%\div15%.Comment: 17 Pages, one Figure and 3 Table

    Possible eta-mesic 3He states within the finite rank approximation

    We extend the method of time delay proposed by Eisenbud and Wigner, to search for unstable states formed by eta mesons and the 3He nucleus. Using few body equations to describe eta-3He elastic scattering, we predict resonances and unstable bound states within different models of the eta-N interaction. The eta-3He states predicted within this novel approach are in agreement with the recent claim of the evidence of eta-mesic 3He made by the TAPS collaboration.Comment: 10 pages LaTex, 3 figure

    Analysis of heavy spin--3/2 baryon--heavy spin--1/2 baryon--light vector meson vertices in QCD

    The heavy spin--3/2 baryon--heavy spin--1/2 baryon vertices with light vector mesons are studied within the light cone QCD sum rules method. These vertices are parametrized in terms of three coupling constants. These couplings are calculated for all possible transitions. It is shown that correlation functions for these transitions are described by only one invariant function for every Lorenz structure. The obtained relations between the correlation functions of the different transitions are structure independent while explicit expressions of invariant functions depend on the Lorenz structure.Comment: 17 Pages, 6 Figures and 4 Table

    Kaon physics with a high-intensity proton driver

    We study opportunities for future high-precision experiments in kaon physics using a high-intensity proton driver, which could be part of the front-end of a muon storage ring complex. We discuss in particular the rare decays KL→π0ννˉK_L\to\pi^0\nu\bar\nu, K+→π+ννˉK^+\to\pi^+\nu\bar\nu, KL→π0e+e−K_L\to\pi^0e^+e^-, and lepton-flavour violating modes such as KL→μeK_L\to\mu e and K→πμeK\to\pi\mu e. The outstanding physics potential and long-term interest of these modes is emphasized. We review status and prospects of current and planned experiments for the processes under consideration, and indicate possible improvements and strategies towards achieving the necessary higher sensitivity.     Magnetic Susceptibility of the Quark Condensate and Polarization from Chiral Models

    We compute the magnetic susceptibility of the quark condensate and the polarization of quarks at zero temperature and in a uniform magnetic background. Our theoretical framework consists of two chiral models that allow to treat self-consistently the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry: the linear σ−\sigma-model coupled to quarks, dubbed quark-meson model, and the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. We also perform analytic estimates of the same quantities within the renormalized quark-meson model, both in the regimes of weak and strong fields. Our numerical results are in agreement with the recent literature; moreover, we confirm previous Lattice findings, related to the saturation of the polarization at large fields.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure

    Ectoplasm with an Edge

    The construction of supersymmetric invariant actions on a spacetime manifold with a boundary is carried out using the "ectoplasm" formalism for the construction of closed forms in superspace. Non-trivial actions are obtained from the pull-backs to the bosonic bodies of closed but non-exact forms in superspace; finding supersymmetric invariants thus becomes a cohomology problem. For a spacetime with a boundary, the appropriate mathematical language changes to relative cohomology, which we use to give a general formulation of off-shell supersymmetric invariants in the presence of boundaries. We also relate this construction to the superembedding formalism for the construction of brane actions, and we give examples with bulk spacetimes of dimension 3, 4 and 5. The closed superform in the 5D example needs to be constructed as a Chern-Simons type of invariant, obtained from a closed 6-form displaying Weil triviality.Comment: 25 page

    The supermultiplet of boundary conditions in supergravity

    Boundary conditions in supergravity on a manifold with boundary relate the bulk gravitino to the boundary supercurrent, and the normal derivative of the bulk metric to the boundary energy-momentum tensor. In the 3D N=1 setting, we show that these boundary conditions can be stated in a manifestly supersymmetric form. We identify the Extrinsic Curvature Tensor Multiplet, and show that boundary conditions set it equal to (a conjugate of) the boundary supercurrent multiplet. Extension of our results to higher-dimensional models (including the Randall-Sundrum and Horava-Witten scenarios) is discussed.Comment: 22 pages. JHEP format; references added; published versio
