    Decoherence of flux qubits due to 1/f flux noise

    We have investigated decoherence in Josephson-junction flux qubits. Based on the measurements of decoherence at various bias conditions, we discriminate contributions of different noise sources. In particular, we present a Gaussian decay function of the echo signal as evidence of dephasing due to 1/f1/f flux noise whose spectral density is evaluated to be about (106Φ0)2(10^{-6} \Phi_0)^2/Hz at 1 Hz. We also demonstrate that at an optimal bias condition where the noise sources are well decoupled the coherence observed in the echo measurement is mainly limited by energy relaxation of the qubit.Comment: 4 pages, error in Fig.4 corrected, to appear in PR

    We investigate a soliton cellular automaton (Box-Ball system) with periodic boundary conditions. Since the cellular automaton is a deterministic dynamical system that takes only a finite number of states, it will exhibit periodic motion.     ANALYSIS OF ENERGY SPECTRA BY THE VORTEX METHOD WITH ARTIFICIAL TURBULENCE

    First, in order to use as an inlet condition for turbulent simulation, a method is presented which produces numerically an artificial turbulence, namely, a series of velocity fluctuations of which frequency is Gaussian, and energy spectrum and root mean square correspond to the given ones. Besides, the fluctuation data are determined by the characteristic parameters of turbulent flows such as the inlet mean velocity, the kinematic viscosity, the Kolmogorov scale and the integral time scale. Our examples show excellent accuracy and flexibility of the method. Secondly, the vortex method has been studied to see the ability of the method to deal with turbulent flows. It is found that the energy spectra produced by this agree well with the ones given as the inlet condition, and that the vortex method is able to produce turbulent flows with the given parameters described above
