Background: Incidence of endometrial cancer in India is increasing due to lifestyle changes and obesity. As 5 year survival rate of cancer confined to uterus is good, there is need for serum tumor marker for early diagnosis. This study was designed to identify a tumor marker which differentiate endometrial carcinoma and abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) because common presentation of endometrial carcinoma is AUB. Objectives: To estimate and compare serum prolactin, Cancer Antigen 125 (CA-125), Cancer Antigen 15-3 (CA15-3), and Carcino embryonic antigen (CEA) levels in patients with endometrial cancer and abnormal uterine bleeding; To evaluate the role of these markers in diagnosing endometrial cancer. Methodology: Thirty eight patients with endometrial cancer and 40 patients with AUB were recruited in this study. Serum prolactin, CA 125, CEA, and CA 15-3 levels were estimated in both groups. Results: The levels of CA 15-3, CA 125, CEA, and prolactin were increased in endometrial carcinoma patients, on comparison with AUB patients. CA 125 alone was found to be a better marker to detect endometrial cancer with 52.63% sensitivity, 80.00% specificity. Conclusion: As individual tumor marker, serum CA 125 has the ability to detect endometrial cancer in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. Keywords: CA-125 antigen, CA 15-3, carcino embryonic antigen, endometrial carcinoma, prolactin, tumor marker, abnormal uterine bleeding

Evaluation and quantification of fruit quality parameters like carbohydrates, phenolics, flavonoids, ascorbic acid, titrable acidity, Total Soluble Solids (TSS), carotenoids and lycopene content was done in fruits of mango cv. Royal Special, at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, India, during the off-season (October, 2012) and main-season (June, 2013), respectively. 'Royal Special' is a typical off-season bearing cultivar, often characterized by multiple flushing and flowering under South Indian conditions. Major phytonutrients such as total sugars, reducing sugars, starch, total carotenoids, lycopene, total phenols, flavonoids, ascorbic acid, TSS, titrable acidity and average fruit yield per plant, were recorded during the off- and main- seasons. Results indicated that fruits from off-season were higher in the major chemical constituents studied compared to the main-season crop, except for fruit yield per plant. This may be attributed to poor competition for nutrients among the developing fruits which act as a sink, besides fluctuating environmental conditions during the off-season, compared to the main-season

Wire less Power Theft Monitoring Using GSM

Developing countries faces widespread theft of power from government owned power utilities. So the aim of this project is to display the power theft area of the distribution transformer and raise an alarm. Here for the practical purpose transformers, source energy meter, household load, energy meter are used for measuring real loads along with wired link. The power theft area of the distribution transformer at substation is obtained by calculating the real consuming power by the energy meter and the main power at the distribution transformer. That means the real consumption of all users must be equals to the total power delivered by the transformer. The difference must be analyzed by the controller by calculating both powers. If the difference is within 2 to 3% variation (transmission losses are concerned) the system raises no error otherwise it will generates error with an alarm and sends message along with transformer location information to the authority through GSM modem and displays in the corresponding substation along with alarm

Abstract Different users may have different search objectives and goals for a huge and confusing search item. The search engine performance can be improved by identifying and analyzing the search goals . In this paper, we propose a studied the approach to identify the user search goals by analyzing search engine query logs. The search goals of different users by clustering the proposed feedback from the search sessions.. to get the best results it is necessary to capture different user search goals. These user goals are nothing but information on different aspects of a query that different users want to obtain. The judgment and analysis of user search goals can be improved by the relevant result obtained from search engine and user's feedback. Here, feedback sessions are used to discover different user search goals based on series of both clicked and un clicked URL's. The pseudo-documents are generated to better represent feedback sessions which can reflect the information need of user. With this the original search results are restructured and to evaluate the performance of restructured search results, classified average precision is used. Keywords Search Goals, Feedback Sessions, Pseudo-Documents I. Introduction Web mining is one of the applications of data mining techniques to discover knowledge from the web. In web search, users are submitted queries to the search engines to get relevant information. But many search engines results are not informative and failed to produce results according to the user search goals. Users are usually giving some vague keywords representing their interests in their minds. Such keywords do not match with the results produced by the search engines. Many works about user search goals analysis should be carried out. Some users give ambiguous queries to the search engines they get mostly the irrelevant results. User search goals are classified as Navigational and Informational, the queries that seek a single website or webpage and queries that reflect the intent of the user to perform a particular transaction respectively. Many related works have been carried out according to the web search applications and the user search goals. In previous works, clustering is done on a set of top ranked results. The user search logs information is not analyzed and the feedback sessions are not considered. Analyzing the clicked URLS only from the web search logs. They only identify whether a pair of queries belong to the same goal or mission and does not care about what the goal is in detail. Semantic based web search for a particular query and the similarity between the words are carried out. Various algorithms such as star clustering algorithm, k-means clustering algorithm are used for clustering the pseudo documents but it also does not cluster the relevant information according to the user search goals. In clustering the cluster labels discovered are also not informative. User search goal is the information on different aspects of a query that users wants to obtain. Information need is a user's desire to obtain the relevant information to satisfy his need. To cluster web search results, the URLs are analyzed by extracting the titles and snippets. But all those works produced noisy results and does not obtain the user search goals precisely. When more irrelevant and relevant results are produced by the search engines it is tim

HTS-Compatible β-Lactamase Transcriptional Reporter Gene Assay for Interrogating the Heat Shock Response Pathway

Moderate environmental and physiological stressors are known to initiate protective heat shock response (HSR) leading to cell survival. HSR is largely mediated by the activation of heat shock factor (HSF), resulting in increased heat shock protein expression. Dysregulation of the HSR signaling has been associated with various diseases including cancer, inflammation and neurodegenerative disorders. Compounds that can modulate HSR have been pursued for the treatment of these diseases. To facilitate the discovery of HSR modulators, we developed a high-throughput amenable betalactamase transcriptional reporter gene assay for monitoring the function of HSF. HeLa cells were engineered to express the beta-lactamase reporter under the control of HSF response elements (HSE) present in the HSP70 gene promoter. The HSE-beta lactamase (HSE-bla) reporter gene assay was validated by using HSF-specific siRNAs and known small molecule modulators. Taking the advantage of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based cell permeable betalactamase substrate, this assay can be miniaturized into 1536-well format. Our results demonstrate that the assay is robust and can be applied to high-throughput screening (HTS) for modulators of HSR

In current days, cloud environments are facing a huge challenge from the attackers in terms of various attacks thrown to the cloud service providers. In both industry and academics, the problem of detection and mitigation of DDoS attacks is now a challenging issue. Detecting Distributed Denial of Service (DDos) threats is mainly a classification problem that can be addressed using data mining, machine learning and deep learning techniques. DDoS attacks can occur in any of the seven-layer OSI model's network. Hence, detecting the DDoS attacks is an important task for cloud service providers to overcome dangerous attacks and loss incurred to stake holders and also the provider
