Research and development of HgZnTe as an infrared material
Interfacial morphology and Fermi level pinning behavior at the interfaces of Al, Ag, and Pt with UHV-cleaved CdTe and ZnTe have been studied using X-ray and ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopies. Results are compared to metal/HgCdTe interface formation, where the weak HgTe bond and consequent ease of Hg loss strongly influence semiconductor disruption and metal-semiconductor intermising. For Al/CdTe, the strong Al-Te reaction yields a significantly more extensive Al-Te reacted region than has been observed for HgCdTe. The Al/ZnTe interface is observed to be more abrupt than Al/CdTe. The final Fermi level pinning positions, Ef-Evbm for Al, Ag, and Pt on p-type CdTe and p-ZnTe have been determined. Efi is found to be roughly the same for both CdTe and ZnTe, with the value for ZnTe lying approximately 0.2 eV closer to the VBM for all three metals. From these results, one would expect Schottky barriers of about the same height for these metals on p-CdTe and p-ZnTe; and also that, in principle, metal interfaces with the two alloys HgCdTe and HgZnTe would have the same properties. Comparisons and implications for electrical behavior of metal contacts to the alloys are discussed

Recurrent Breast Cancer Diagnosis Delayed by COVID-19 Pandemic
We describe the case of a 65-year-old female with a history of left-sided ductal carcinoma in situ in 2008. Mammography in January 2020 demonstrated calcifications in the previously affected breast. Subsequent stereotactic biopsy results were benign. In the months that followed, the patient experienced breast changes but avoided returning to the facility as the COVID-19 pandemic worsened. In August of 2020, the patient returned for a repeat mammogram, which indicated 2 suspicious masses in the left breast. Further analysis through ultrasound-guided core biopsy ultimately led to a left mastectomy and lymph node biopsy, which were performed in September 2020. Pathology results revealed multifocal invasive ductal carcinoma stage IIB

When orders of worth clash: Negotiating legitimacy in situations of moral multiplexity
How is moral legitimacy established in pluralist contexts where multiple moral frameworks co-exist and compete? Situations of moral multiplexity complicate not only whether an organization or practice is legitimate but also which criteria should be used to establish moral legitimacy. We argue that moral legitimacy can be thought of as the property of a dynamic dialogical process in which relations between moral schemes are constantly (re-)negotiated through dynamic exchange with audiences. Drawing on Boltanski and Thévenot's 'orders of worth' framework, we propose a process model of how three types of truces may be negotiated: transcendence, compromise, antagonism. While each can create moral legitimacy in pluralistic contexts, legitimacy is not a binary variable but varying in degrees of scope and certainty
What More Can Be Done? Childhood Obesity in Glassboro, NJ
Childhood obesity is a growing public health concern in the United States, with an estimated 20% of American children being obese. In New Jersey (NJ), 9% of high school students are obese, and there are disparities in obesity rates based on gender, sexual identity, and race/ethnicity. In Gloucester County, NJ, limited data is available on childhood obesity rates, but 36.4% of adults are obese, and lower SES is related to higher rates of obesity in youth. To address this issue, this research poster proposes a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Glassboro to provide nutritional resources and create monthly newsletters for parents and guardians, with the aim of promoting access to affordable produce and grocery stores in the area. This intervention could potentially help reduce rates of childhood obesity in Glassboro, NJ. Limitations of the study include limited data availability and difficulty in finding meaningful and sustainable intervention ideas
