    “Stayed on freedom,” sung by slaves emancipating themselves during the U.S. Civil War and again in churches and during the civil rights movements of the 1950s and 1960s, reminds us that the struggle for African American freedom has been long and hard. “Solidarity Forever,” composed in 1915 by Industrial Workers of the World activist Ralph Chaplin during World War I, picks up another thread of American history: the struggle for worker rights. Chaplin’s song tells us of the exploitation of labor for the benefit of the wealthy, and that through organizing, workers can make their demands: “the union makes us strong.” These two songs are not usually sung together, but I like to sing them that way because they link the ongoing struggle in American history for freedom and for economic justice.1 As we rethink the historical legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., who died in Memphis, Tennessee, from an assassin’s bullet on April 4, 1968, over fifty years ago, these two struggles remain interconnected

    New validated rp-hplc method for simultaneous estimation of lamivudine and tenofovir disproxil fumarate in tablets

    A simple, specific and precise reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed and validated for simultaneous estimation of Lamivudine and Tenofovir disproxil fumarate in tablets. Quantification was achieved by using a reverse-phase C18 column (Inertsil ODS 3V, 250 mm x 4.6 mm; 5) at 31 o C. The mobile phase consisted of a mixture of phosphate buffer and acetonitrile in the ratio of 55:45 v/v at a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min. The retention times of Lamivudine and Tenofovir disproxil fumarate were found to be 2.430 min and 4.550 min respectively. The developed method was validated as per ICH Guidelines for linearity, accuracy, precision, detection limit, quantification limit, ruggedness, robustness, specificity and system suitability. The percentage recoveries for both of the drugs from their tablets were found to be 98.48 % and 98.64 % respectively. The method may successfully be employed for the simultaneous determination of Lamivudine and Tenofovir disproxil fumarate in pharmaceutical tablet dosage forms

    Rhabdomyosarcomas (RMS) are aggressive malignant neoplasm of mesenchymal origin, related to skeletal muscle lineage. These are the most common soft tissue tumors in children. The diagnosis is made by microscopic analysis and ancillary techniques like immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, cytogenetics and molecular biology. We encountered a case of a 03 years old child who presented with a tender, reddish, soft swelling over cheek for three weeks. The FNAC was reported as a small round cell tumor, Probably Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (PNET). The biopsy of tumor revealed a small round cell tumor with an alveolar pattern. Tumor giant cells were absent and mitotic figures were infrequent. Hence, differentials of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma and PNET were rendered. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) demonstrated desmin positivity. Thus, a final diagnosis of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma was offered

    It is very important to locate survivors from collapsed buildings so that rescue operations can be arranged. Many lives are lost due to lack of competent systems to detect people in these collapsed buildings at the right time. So here we have designed a hand gesture controlled robot which is capable of detecting humans under these collapsed building parts. The proposed work can be used to access specific locations that are not humanly possible, and detect those humans trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings.     Functionalized Carbon Nanotube and MnO2 Nanoflower Hybrid as an Electrode Material for Supercapacitor Application

    Functionalized carbon nanotube (FCNT) and Manganese Oxide (MnO2) nanoflower hybrid material was synthesized using hydrothermal technique as a promising electrode material for supercapacitor applications. The morphological investigation revealed the formation of ‘nanoflower’ like structure of MnO2 connected with FCNT, thus paving an easy path for the conduction of electrons during the electrochemical mechanism. A significant improvement in capacitance properties was observed in the hybrid material, in which carbon nanotube acts as a conducting cylindrical path, while the major role of MnO2 was to store the charge, acting as an electrolyte reservoir leading to an overall improved electrochemical performance. The full cell electrochemical analysis of FCNT-MnO2 hybrid using 3 M potassium hydroxide (KOH) electrolyte indicated a specific capacitance of 359.53 F g−1, specific energy of 49.93 Wh kg−1 and maximum specific power of 898.84 W kg−1 at 5 mV s−1. The results show promise for the future of supercapacitor development based on hybrid electrode materials, where high specific energy can be achieved along with high specific power and long cycle life
