Precision Feeding in Dairy Ration Cost Minimization Under Producer's Risk Management
The biophysical simulation data from Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System were used in non-linear programming model for least cost ration incorporating ingredient nutrient and price variations. Precision feeding practice indicated to have lower mean cost ration than whole herd feeding in terms of ration cost.Non-linear programming, nutrient variation, price variation, precision feeding, environmental pollution, phosphorus, nitrogen, mean cost ration, whole herd feeding, Livestock Production/Industries, Risk and Uncertainty,
Chiral QCD, General QCD Parameterization and Constituent Quark Models
Several recent papers -using effective QCD chiral Lagrangians- reproduced
results obtained with the general QCD parameterization (GP). These include the
baryon 8+10 mass formula, the octet magnetic moments and the coincidental
nature of the "perfect" -3/2 ratio between the magnetic moments of p and n.
Although we anticipated that the GP covers the case of chiral treatments, the
above results explicitly exemplify this fact. Also we show by the GP that -in
any model or theory (chiral or non chiral) reproducing the results of exact
QCD- the Franklin (Coleman Glashow) sum rule for the octet magnetic moments
must be violated.Comment: 10 pages, Latex; abridged version (same results), removed some

The baryon octet magnetic moments to all orders in flavor breaking; an application to the problem of the strangeness in the nucleon
Using the general QCD parametrization (GP) we display the magnetic moments of
the octet baryons including all flavor breaking terms to any order. The
hierarchy of the GP parameters allows to estimate a parameter related
to the quark loops contribution of the proton magnetic moment; its order of
magnitude is predicted to be inside a comparatively small interval including
the value given recently by Leinweber et al. by a lattice QCD calculationComment: (13 pages- version accepted for publication Phys.Rev.D. Note added in

Risk management on application of minimum-cost feed ration for nitrogen and phosphorus reduction on dairy farm
The traditional mathematical programming model with the objective function of feed ration cost minimization is used to accommodate risk management responses to price variability associated with feeding a particular feed ration over time. The model incorporated biophysical simulation data using Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCPS) software in addressing nutrient requirements and excretions. In addition, it used historic feedstuff prices in a mean-variance (E-V) framework analysis. The optimized seasonal feeding indicated to have a lower mean ration cost and lowest nutrient loading followed by optimized uniform feeding program. The feed cost optimization proved to be a better strategy in minimizing ration cost and reducing excretions both manure and nutrients. The results in this study can be used as guidelines for making nutrient. The information in this study can be used by a producer facing feed price risk to select optimal ration while reducing environmental pollution.Risk and Uncertainty,
Axion-like-particle decay in strong electromagnetic backgrounds
The decay of a massive pseudoscalar, scalar and U(1) boson into an
electron-positron pair in the presence of strong electromagnetic backgrounds is
calculated. Of particular interest is the constant-crossed-field limit,
relevant for experiments that aim to measure high-energy axion-like-particle
conversion into electron-positron pairs in a magnetic field. The total
probability depends on the quantum nonlinearity parameter - a product of field
and lightfront momentum invariants. Depending on the seed particle mass,
different decay regimes are identified. In the below-threshold case, we find
the probability depends on a non-perturbative tunnelling exponent depending on
the quantum parameter and the particle mass. In the above-threshold case, we
find that when the quantum parameter is varied linearly, the probability
oscillates nonlinearly around the spontaneous decay probability. A strong-field
limit is identified in which the threshold is found to disappear. In modelling
the fall-off of a quasi-constant-crossed magnetic field, we calculate
probabilities beyond the constant limit and investigate when the decay
probability can be regarded as locally constant.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figure
Effectiveness of Small Strain Shear Wave Velocity as a Property for Assessing Damage Associated with Alkali-Silica Reaction in Concrete
This research paper details the monitoring of expansion and shear wave velocity for fifteen concrete prisms cast in accordance with ASTM C1293 utilizing five mix designs with varying levels of ASR reactivity. Jobe sand and sodium hydroxide pellets were added in various quantities to increase the reactivity of the prisms. Strain measurements of the prisms were taken according to ASTM C129 and the shear wave velocity of the prisms was measured using ASTM C215. These measurements were taken weekly, then monthly for over a year. It was determined that shear wave velocity of the prisms decrease linearly as strain in the prisms increases with the relationship valid after the initial curing phase of the concrete (i.e., \u3e56 days after casting). However, as cracks and other types of damage become more significant (i.e., individual cracking transitions to map cracking), the concrete can experience a significant loss in shear wave velocity without a proportionate increase in strain. Indicating shear wave velocity may provide a better estimate of concrete condition than strain measurements or visual inspection. For the determination of potentially deleteriously reactive concrete mixes, the shear wave velocity of prisms considered non-reactive (i.e., strain less than 0.04% in 1 year) had incremental increases in shear wave velocity over the 1 year period while prisms considered potentially deleteriously reactive had a decrease in shear wave velocity in the first 100 days. This indicates shear wave velocity may be useful as an alternative monitoring technique for determining potential deleteriously reactive concretes
An Integrated Precision Production and Environmental Management Analysis of a Kentucky Dairy Farm
This study compares and contrasts the profitability of different dairy management practices through precision livestock farming. Feed analysis and crop yields were simulated. The proposed alternative feeding program demonstrated less manure and nutrient excretions. When mathematical programming model was employed, uniform rate application manifested the highest selected economic values.Management practices, environmental, Environmental Economics and Policy,
Comparison of Decision Rules for Subsurface Drip Irrigation Practices Using a Nonlinear Mathematical Programming Model
A comparison of decision rules has been made for case studies of corn production using subsurface drip irrigation under three agricultural management practices (no irrigation, uniform irrigation, and variable rate irrigation). The uniform irrigation strategy appeared to perform the best than the other two management practices under different risk scenarios.corn production, mathematical programming, profitability, risk management, subsurface drip irrigation, variable rate irrigation, Farm Management,
Rough Cilicia Archaeological Survey: Report of the 2011 Season, Part Two
The 2011 season of the Rough Cilicia Archaeological Survey Project was conducted between July 21 and August 12 2011. During the 2011 season of the Rough Cilicia Archaeological Survey, pedestrian survey was secondary to the main task of obtaining pollen and carbon samples from geormorphic trenches in the Taseli Plateau. If time allowed, the team walked limited transects in the vicinity of the trenches themselves. Toward the end of our stay at Gökgözlük Yayla we devoted one full day of pedestrian survey in the vicinity of Sugözü Yayla where sherd scatters had been observed in 2007, when the team excavated a geomorphic trench at that location. In addition, the team obtained information about uninvestigated sites known to local inhabitants and devoted a few days to attempts to locate these. In all, some nine transects were inspected during the highland survey. We identified one pre-ceramic lithic production site near Trench 5 at Günnercik Yayla (RC 1101), house remains at Beobaşı Yayla (RC 1103), evidence of settlements at Sugözü Yayla (RC 1102) and Armutlar Mevkii (near Çile, RC 1104), and a monumental village site at Çoruş in the valley of the Geceler River behind Gazipaşa (RC 1105). We also re-inspected the lithic production center at Sivritaş Tepe in the Bickici Highland (RC 0802) and the amphora kiln sites near Syedra (Yeşil Öz River mouth), the Delice River, the Bickici River, and Antiochia ad Cragum. We collected total of 209 ceramic and stone artifacts that were deposited at the Alanya Museum
