Innovation in healthcare organizations : Concepts and challenges to consider

Healthcare systems have become increasingly complex and have faced difficulties in finding solutions to emerging population needs. New technologies have allowed users to obtain the information they need at speed never seen before in human history. This fact has promoted reflection, change, and restructuration in large healthcare corporations' traditional management style, which seeks to incorporate in their business model elements more flexible and interactive in connection with the recent challenges and the current healthcare trends. Promoting a creative and innovative culture in health organizations to allow the stakeholders to find solutions focused on healthcare systems' real needs is one of the most important elements to respond to emergent challenges. However, the development of mechanisms enhances a creative environment, and evaluative approaches that demonstrate the reliability and added value of innovations remain challenging. Therefore, this paper develops and recalls certain essential concepts that can help researchers, managers, and health workers interested in creating (or maintain) a favorable environment for innovation in healthcare organizations. The article also explores and clarifies some of the key critical elements of an innovation process from a strategic and organizational perspective, starting from contextual input elements favorable to its emergence until its evaluation stage

Avaliação qualitativa da água de barragens subterrâneas no semi-árido nordestino brasileiro.

Com o objetivo de avaliar a qualidade físico-química da água em áreas de captação/plantio de barragens subterrâneas, foram monitoradas oito barragens em propriedades localizadas nos Municípios de Petrolina-PE, Ouricuri-PE, Afrânio-PE e Filadélfia-BA, no período chuvoso de novembro 2006 a março de 2007. As análises fisicoquímicas permitiram avaliar a qualidade da água das barragens, empregando-se índices clássicos da literatura, como CE e RAS. Das oito barragens subterrâneas monitoradas, duas apresentaram problemas de salinidade, sendo que em uma delas a situação é mais grave devido, a presença de teores elevados de sódio. É fundamental, antes de construir uma barragem subterrânea, certificar-se da qualidade da água do riacho, bem como do solo circundante, através de análise destes dois recursos, assegurando, assim, maior eficiência da tecnologia.Edição dos Resumos do V Congresso Brasileiro de Agroecologia, Guarapari, 2007

Optical absorption of single-layer hexagonal boron nitride in the ultraviolet

In this paper we theoretically describe the absorption of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) single layer. We develop the necessary formalism and present an efficient method for solving the Wannier equation for excitons. We give predictions for the absorption of hBN on quartz and on graphite. We compare our predictions with recently published results (Elias et al 2019 Nat. Commun. 10 2639) for a monolayer of hBN on graphite. The spontaneous radiative lifetime of excitons in hBN is also computed. The membrane depolarization and increase intracellular calcium level produced by silver nanoclusters are responsible for bacterial death

This work highlights how our silver ultra nanoclusters (ARGIRIUM-SUNc) hand-made synthesized, are very useful as a bactericide and anti-biofilm agent. The Argirium-SUNc effective antibacterial concentrations are very low (< 1 ppm) as compared to the corresponding values reported in the literature. Different bacterial defense mechanisms are observed dependent on ARGIRIUM-SUNc concentrations. Biochemical investigations (volatilome) have been performed to understand the pathways involved in cell death. By using fluorescence techniques and cell viability measurements we show, for the first time, that membrane depolarization and calcium intracellular level are both primary events in bacteria death. The ARGIRIUM-SUNc determined eradication of different biofilm at a concentration as low as 0.6 ppm. This suggests that the effect of the nanoparticles follows a common mechanism in different bacteria. It is highly probable that the chemical constitution of the crosslinks could be a key target in the disrupting mechanism of our nanoparticles. Since the biofilms and their constituents are essential for bacterial survival in contact with humans, the silver nanoparticles represent a logical target for new antibacterial treatments

Quanto o consumidor está pagando a mais por um iogurte probiótico?

O iogurte é um dos principais leites fermentados que já se encontra há anos no mercado, sendo rico em nutrientes indispensáveis ao funcionamento do organismo e com diversos benefícios à saúde. Quando adicionado de cultura probiótica se torna um alimento funcional, que se repercute em um maior valor agregado para o consumidor. Assim, o presente artigo visa avaliar o quanto o consumidor está pagando a mais para obter os benefícios de um iogurte probiótico, em relação ao iogurte tradicional. Para isso, os preços de iogurtes tradicionais e probióticos foram comparados por meio do teste t no mercado nacional, separados por categorias de embalagem econômica e individual. Os resultados indicaram que a valorização do iogurte probiótico é estatisticamente significativa em ambas as embalagens. No entanto, resultados mais expressivos foram encontrados para a embalagem individual, o que revela que, além da saudabilidade, a função da conveniência da embalagem também é percebida pelo consumidor que está disposto a pagar até quase duas vezes mais por estes dois atributos juntos no iogurte

O impacto da renda na aquisição de produtos lácteos durante a pandemia.

Este artigo investigou as decisões de compras de lácteos dos brasileiros de diversos estratos de renda durante a pandemia. Para isso, foi aplicado um questionário online no início da pandemia do novo coronavírus por meio do Formulários Google ®, empregando a amostragem por bola de neve. A análise estatística foi feita por meio do teste Qui-Quadrado para verificar a associação da variável renda com os fatores de tomada de decisão. Os resultados indicaram uma associação significativa da renda com os fatores preço e marca na compra de lácteos. Os residuais obtidos demonstraram associação forte da renda com o fator preço para os grupos de menor renda e associação forte ao fator marca para os grupos de renda mais elevada. Portanto, observa-se relação direta da renda dos brasileiros no consumo de lácteos e em como estes indivíduos tomam a decisão de escolha no momento da aquisição de lácteos, mesmo durante a pandemia
