The role of venture capital finance is significant when ideas, or ventures, are developed to new companies. To make ventures and venture capital meet there is also niche for venture-to-capital (V2C) operative. The network of mutual and organisational relationships consisting of (i) entrepreneurs or venturers, (ii) V2C operatives or venture knowledgists, and (iii) venture capital operatives or venture capitalists form an activity system based on social capital and mutual trust. These three groups are the key stakeholders of the growth company process. Ventures, venturers and knowledgist form a community of practice that is based on notion of mutual benefit from working together. It could be stated that venturer holds expertise on practice, venture capitalist on finance, and V2C operative holds expertise on relationships. In the context of the growth company process, social capital should be taken in account as the sum of mutual acquaintance and recognition or network of social exchanges between operatives or the actors engaging in transactions. Moreover the three dimensions of social capital affecting any actor in that process are (i) structural, i.e. presence or absence of interaction, (ii) dimensional, i.e. mutual trust and trustworthiness, and (iii) cognitive, i.e. shared understanding of common goals and proper ways to act. At least partial role of V2C is to enable learning, i.e. transfer of explicit and tacit knowledge. The activity theory approach emphasises such process based on interaction. Moreover, most operatives in V2C are professionals in their fields, thus there is presupposed leverage effect if the activity system is functional. The aim of the paper is to elaborate theory of V2C by examining knowledge and expertise in V2C context and by approaching V2C-apparatus as a knowledge transferring community of practice. The empirical part of the paper consists of interviews and participant observation of different operatives or actors in V2Cprocess in Finland and Russia. Along the conceptual analysis, the research problem set is approached by describing the knowledge transferring processes, analysing different types of knowledge transferred in the process, and finally analysing the system as a professional community of practice or an activity system

Maintaining performance in digital ubiquitous work environment is increasingly dependent on the quality of physical, cognitive and organizational ergonomics of work. Since digital work environment is the reign of most knowledge workers, there is a need to elaborate the study of work ergonomics by devoting attention to the issue of information ergonomics. In health care digitalisation has affected operation model thoroughly. It has affected how information is recorded, managed and distributed. Novel service models powered by digital channels offer now ways to practice professions as well as there are several outcomes regarding the whole service area. This paper is a summary of four research projects on how digitalisation affects knowledge work and how working is (re)shaped by sociotechnical work environments with reflection to eHealth. The conclusion in the paper underlines the digital transformation shaping the lives of knowledge workers. Discussion on how sociotechnical reshapes both individual and organisations, not to mention extended organisations. As the working practices as well as conventions and norms dictate the daily flow people have developed digital coping strategies. Paper also discusses the future of information ergonomics research in health care as way to find normative result for enhancing work in sociotechnical environment. technical environment

Change from tangible and place bound production to more flexible production of intangible information goods has challenged traditional ways of organising production. Innovative operating models have brought up also new logics of doing business, therefore one might suggest that it is not always clear which is the cause and which is the effect. The attention on general discussion is often on the nature of the product, yet at least as interesting is the meta-level, i.e. how the value is created. The aim of the paper is to examine different operating models, i.e. ways to define operating environment. The focus is on the different models of competitiveness or how end-users are served and functionality of media service is maintained. The paper contributes to discussion on sufficient and sound ways to organise knowledge intensive value creating activities. Reflections to practice are made by examining two cases of content provisioning in digital media

Product lifecycle management (PLM) is a systematic and holistic way to approach challenges that exist in managing product related information along products’ lifecycle from product design to its disposal. There is an established set of information management approaches that address important subsets of lifecycle information management challenges, e.g. product data management (PDM), ERP and CRM. Common feature to PLM processes is that their implementation requires changes in organization, systems, conventions, and importantly, skills and capabilities. The aim of this paper is to discuss the issue of PLM implementation and how it can be aided with capability maturity assessment. Empirical part of the paper points out how capability maturity assessment can be conducted and how it is applicable in different stages of implementing and developing PLM

Over the past couple of decades, media education has evolved from a relatively novel area of study to become an established and thriving field which has captured the attention of scholars, educators, stakeholders, and policy makers worldwide. Media education elements such as media literacy, digital literacy, and digital citizenship have become somewhat familiar terms and have grown into burgeoning fields of study in their own right. Over the years, there has been a wealth of literature and theories centred around media education, fuelled by the exponential growth of online and digital media, constantly advancing digital technology, and an ever-evolving media landscape. Despite this, there seems to be a void in the literature when it comes to the conceptualization of media education and its many elements in a way which encapsulates and unifies the various theories and schools of thought. This paper is an attempt to fill that gap and provide an illustrative, concise, and cohesive conceptual model of media education based on media education theories in the Nordic tradition, as viewed from a Finnish perspective. It aims to contribute towards the theoretical understanding of media education as a concept, as well as provide a comprehensive description of media education from a Finnish perspective for students, educators, and policy makers.publishedVersionPeer reviewe
