Comparative Analysis of Leasing versus Buying General Purpose Vehicles (Sedan) in the Korean Air Force
Elmendorf Air Force Base (AFB) is one of the two key ERS airfields for the Pacific Theater. The condition of en route airfields has recently come to the attention of the DoD and the GAO. Delays at these airfields may cause personnel and equipment to arrive late in theater. Fuel systems at Elmendorf AFB are currently being improved, but the GAO questions whether these improvements will help the throughput. As well as being an en route airfield, Elmendorf is also an important Interim Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) APOE for Fort Richardson. The IBCT is designed to operate in small-scale contingency operations in both complex and urban locations. The IBCT will be deployed within ninety-six hours between departure of first aircraft and arrival of last aircraft. The IBCT also requires fifty percent hazardous cargo loads, which reduces available parking for safety reasons. This research uses the Airfield Simulation Tool (AST) to model both the en route and the IBCT scenarios. The focus of the modeling effort is to understand the limiting factors for both scenarios at Elmendorf AFB
Infrared optical absorption spectra of CuO single crystals: Fermion-spinon band and dimensional crossover of the antiferromagnetic order
We have obtained mid-infrared optical absorption spectra of the S=1/2 quasi
one-dimensional CuO using polarized transmission measurement and interpreted
the spectra in terms of phonon assisted magnetic excitations. When the electric
field is parallel to the main antiferromagnetic direction a Delta shaped peak
is observed with the maximum at 0.23eV which is attributed to spinons along
Cu-O chains. At low temperatures in the antiferromagnetic phase another peak
appears at 0.16eV which is attributed to two-magnon absorption but the spinon
peak remains. This behavior is interpreted as due to a dimensional crossover
where the low temperature three-dimensional magnetic phase keeps short range
characteristics of a one-dimensional magnet.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
using HYP-smeared staggered fermions in unquenched QCD
We present results for kaon mixing parameter calculated using
HYP-smeared improved staggered fermions on the MILC asqtad lattices. We use
three lattice spacings (, and fm), ten different
valence quark masses (), and several light sea-quark
masses in order to control the continuum and chiral extrapolations. We derive
the next-to-leading order staggered chiral perturbation theory (SChPT) results
necessary to fit our data, and use these results to do extrapolations based
both on SU(2) and SU(3) SChPT. The SU(2) fitting is particularly
straightforward because parameters related to taste-breaking and matching
errors appear only at next-to-next-to-leading order. We match to the continuum
renormalization scheme (NDR) using one-loop perturbation theory. Our final
result is from the SU(2) analysis, with the SU(3) result providing a (less
accurate) cross check. We find and ,
where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The error is
dominated by the truncation error in the matching factor. Our results are
consistent with those obtained using valence domain-wall fermions on lattices
generated with asqtad or domain-wall sea quarks.Comment: 37 pages, 31 figures, most updated versio
