A Study on Machine Learning Based Light Weight Authentication Vector
Artificial Intelligence area has been rapidly advanced around the global companies such as Google, Amazon, IBM and so on. In addition, it is anticipated to facilitate the innovation in a variety of industries in the future. AI provides us with convenience in our lives, on the other hand, the valuable information on the subjects that utilize this has the potential to be exposed at anytime and anywhere. In the next advancement of AI area, the technical developments of the new security are required other than the existing methods. Generation and validation methods of light-weight authentication vector are suggested in this study to be used in many areas as an expanded security function. Upon the results of the capacity analysis, it was verified that efficient and safe security function could be performed using the existing machine learning algorithm. Authentication vector is designed to insert the encrypted data as variable according to the change of time. The security function was performed by comparing coordinate distance values within the authentication vector, and the internal structure was verified to optimize the performance cost required for data reverse search
Effect of thermal cycling frequency on the durability of Yb-Gd-Y-based thermal barrier coatings
The effects of thermal cycling frequency and buffer layer on the crack generation and thermal fatigue behaviors of Yb–Gd–Y-stabilized zirconia (YGYZ)-based thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) were investigated through thermally graded mechanical fatigue (TGMF) test. TGMF tests with low- (period of 10 min) and high-frequency (period of 2 min) cycling were performed at 1100 °C with a 60 MPa tensile load. Different cycling frequencies in TGMF test generate two kinds of crack propagation modes. The sample with low-frequency cycling condition shows penetration cracks in the YGYZ top coat, and multiple narrow vertical cracks are generated in high-frequency cycling. To enhance the thermomechanical properties, different buffer layers were introduced into the TBC systems, which were deposited with the regular (RP) or high-purity 8 wt% yttria stabilized zirconia (HP-YSZ) feedstock. The purity of the feedstock powder used for preparing the buffer layer affected the fracture behavior, showing a better thermal durability for the TBCs with the HP-YSZ in both frequency test conditions. A finite element model is developed, which takes creep effect into account due to thermal cycling. The model shows the high stresses at the interfaces between different layers due to differential thermal expansion. The failure mechanisms of YGYZ-based TBCs in TGMF test are also proposed. The vertical cracks are preferentially created, and then the vertical and horizontal cracks will be propagated when the vertical cracks are impeded by pores and micro-cracks
Design principles for transforming making programs into online settings at public libraries
Purpose This paper aims to investigate design principles for transforming existing making communities of practice within public libraries into online knowledge-building communities to support youths, families with young children and adult members’ making and tinkering during COVID-19. Design/methodology/approach Building upon C4P and connected learning framework, the authors analyze existing literature and practitioner reports on informal learning projects related to making and STEM learning, family learning and online learning as well as emergent cases of innovative approaches in response to COVID-19 from public libraries, informal learning institutions and community groups. Findings The authors suggest 11 design principles around five areas: program design, facilitation, tools and materials, process documentation and sharing and feedback. Originality/value This work contributes to the information and learning sciences concerned with community engagement and knowledge creation by suggesting a design model to transform and sustain existing making communities of practice within public libraries into online knowledge-building communities during COVID-19
Prevalence and Management of Diabetes in Korean Adults: Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys 1998–2005
OBJECTIVE: This research investigated recent changes in the prevalence and management status of diabetes among Korean adults.
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), a nationwide survey examining the general health and nutrition status of the Korean people, was conducted in 1998, 2001, and 2005. Using the first (1998; n = 5,645), second (2001; n = 4,154), and third (2005; n = 4,628) KNHANES datasets, in the present study, we estimated the prevalence of diabetes among Korean adults (aged >or=30 years), the proportions of known cases of diabetes, and the proportions of well-controlled cases of diabetes, as defined by either the American Diabetes Association (A1C <7%) or the International Diabetes Federation guidelines (A1C <6.5%).
RESULTS: In 2005, the prevalence of diabetes was estimated to be 9.1% (approximately 2.58 million people: 10.2% of men and 7.9% of women), including 6.2% with known diabetes and 2.9% with newly diagnosed diabetes. The prevalence of impaired fasting glucose was 17.4% (approximately 4.94 million people). The proportion of known cases of diabetes drastically increased from 23.2% in 1998 to 41.2% in 2001 and 68.0% in 2005 (P < 0.0001). Among known diabetic patients in 2005, 43.5 and 22.9% had A1C levels <7.0 and <6.5%, respectively.
CONCLUSIONS: The overall prevalence of diabetes in Korea has not changed significantly between 1998 and 2005. Physician diagnosis and treatment rates of diabetes have significantly improved during this period, but glycemic control was still poorer than that in other developed countriesope
Micro-Segregated Liquid Crystal Haze Films for Photovoltaic Applications: A Novel Strategy to Fabricate Haze Films Employing Liquid Crystal Technology
Herein, a novel strategy to fabricate haze films employing liquid crystal (LC) technology for photovoltaic (PV) applications is reported. We fabricated a high optical haze film composed of low-molecular LCs and polymer and applied the film to improve the energy conversion efficiency of PV module. The technique utilized to fabricate our haze film is based on spontaneous polymerization-induced phase separation between LCs and polymers. With optimized fabrication conditions, the haze film exhibited an optical haze value over 95% at 550 nm. By simply attaching our haze film onto the front surface of a silicon-based PV module, an overall average enhancement of 2.8% in power conversion efficiency was achieved in comparison with a PV module without our haze film

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The persistence of latently Human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) infected cellular reservoirs in resting CD4<sup>+ </sup>T cells is a major obstacle to HIV-1 eradication. The detailed mechanism of HIV-1 latency remains unclear. We investigated histones and their post-translational modification associated with HIV-1 latency in novel HIV-1 latently infected cell lines established previously, NCHA cells.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>To examine histones and their modification linked with HIV-1 latency, the expression profiles for core histone proteins and histone deacetylases (HDACs) in NCHA cells were characterized by RT-PCR, ELISA, and western blot. The levels of histone acetylation and methylation at histone H3 Lys<sup>9 </sup>(H3K9) and Lys<sup>27 </sup>(H3K27) in HIV-1 latently infected cells were analyzed by western blot and chromatin immunoprecipitation-sequencing (ChIP-seq).</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The expression levels for four core histone proteins (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4) and HDACs (HDAC1-8) in NCHA cells were not significantly different from those in their parental cells. Histone H3K9 and H3K27 acetylations in NCHA cells showed no difference in parental and NCHA cells, whereas the levels of di- and tri-methylation were increased in NCHA cells. The expression of EED which is a component of polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), and BMI1 and RING2 which are constituents of PRC1, were upregulated in NCHA cells. In addition, more ubiquitylation at histone H2A was detected in NCHA cells.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Our results suggest that tri-methylation of histone H3K27 and H2A ubiquitylation via polycomb group protein may play a crucial role in epigenetic silencing accounting for HIV-1 latency in NCHA cells.</p

Risk of Parkinson disease in stroke patients: A nationwide cohort study in South Korea
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Previous studies have examined the risk of stroke in patients with Parkinson disease (PD), but the incidence of PD onset among stroke patients and its risk according to severity of poststroke disabilities have scarcely been investigated. This study aims to determine whether the risk of PD is increased among stroke patients using a retrospective cohort with a large population-based database.
METHODS
We used data collected by the Korean National Health Insurance Service from 2010 to 2018 and examined 307,361 stroke patients and 380,917 sex- and age-matched individuals without stroke to uncover the incidence of PD. Cox proportional hazards regression was used to calculate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI), and the risk of PD was compared according to presence and severity of disability.
RESULTS
During 4.31 years of follow-up, stroke patients had a 1.67 times higher risk of PD compared to individuals without stroke (adjusted HR = 1.67, 95% CI = 1.57-1.78). The risk of PD was greater among stroke patients with disabilities than among those without disabilities, even after adjustment for multiple covariates (adjusted HR = 1.72, 95% CI = 1.55-1.91; and adjusted HR = 1.66, 95% CI = 1.56-1.77, respectively).
CONCLUSIONS
Our study demonstrated an increased risk of PD among stroke patients. Health professionals need to pay careful attention to detecting movement disorders as clues for diagnosing PD
