    Group-tailored feedback on online mental health screening for university students: using cluster analysis

    Background The method by which mental health screening result reports are given affects the user???s health behavior. Lists with the distribution of scores in various mental health areas is difficult for users to understand, and if the results are negative, they may feel more embarrassed than necessary. Therefore, we propose using group-tailored feedback, grouping people of similar mental health types by cluster analysis for comprehensive explanations of multidimensional mental health. Methods This cross-sectional, observational study was conducted using a qualitative approach based on cluster analysis. Data were collected via a developed mental screening website, with depression, anxiety, sleep problems, perfectionism, procrastination, and attention assessed for 2 weeks in January 2020 in Korea. Participants were randomly recruited, and sample size was 174. Total was divided into 25 with severe depression/anxiety (SDA+) and 149 without severe depression/anxiety (SDA-) according to the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 criteria. Cluster analysis was conducted in each group, and an ANOVA was performed to find significant clusters. Thereafter, structured discussion was performed with mental health professionals to define the features of the clusters and construct the feedback content initially. Thirteen expert counselors were interviewed to reconstruct the content and validate the effectiveness of the developed feedback. Results SDA- was divided into 3 using the k-means algorithm, which showed the best performance (silhouette score = 0.32, CH score = 91.67) among the clustering methods. Perfectionism and procrastination were significant factors in discretizing the groups. SDA+ subgroups were integrated because only 25 people belonged to this group, and they need professional help rather than self-care. Mental status and treatment recommendations were determined for each group, and group names were assigned to represent their features. The developed feedback was assessed to improve mental health literacy (MHL) through integrative and understandable explanations of multidimensional mental health. Moreover, it appeared that a sense of belonging was induced to reduce reluctance to face the feedback. Conclusions This study suggests group-tailored feedback using cluster analysis, which identifies groups of university students by integrating multidimensions of mental health. These methods can help students increase their interest in mental health and improve MHL to enable timely help

    Learning to Quantize Deep Networks by Optimizing Quantization Intervals with Task Loss

    Reducing bit-widths of activations and weights of deep networks makes it efficient to compute and store them in memory, which is crucial in their deployments to resource-limited devices, such as mobile phones. However, decreasing bit-widths with quantization generally yields drastically degraded accuracy. To tackle this problem, we propose to learn to quantize activations and weights via a trainable quantizer that transforms and discretizes them. Specifically, we parameterize the quantization intervals and obtain their optimal values by directly minimizing the task loss of the network. This quantization-interval-learning (QIL) allows the quantized networks to maintain the accuracy of the full-precision (32-bit) networks with bit-width as low as 4-bit and minimize the accuracy degeneration with further bit-width reduction (i.e., 3 and 2-bit). Moreover, our quantizer can be trained on a heterogeneous dataset, and thus can be used to quantize pretrained networks without access to their training data. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our trainable quantizer on ImageNet dataset with various network architectures such as ResNet-18, -34 and AlexNet, on which it outperforms existing methods to achieve the state-of-the-art accuracy

Proper placement of the tracheal tube is critical when tracheoesophageal fistula was occurred from esophageal impaction the battery. Endoscopy of upper gastrointestinal tract in infants and children is an important and effective tool for the diagnosis and treatment of foreign body ingestion. But upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in infant and children has very high risk of tracheal compression and airway compromise.     The Association between Excessive Internet Gaming Behavior and Immersive Tendency, Mediated by Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Symptoms, in Korean Male University Students

    Objective Problematic online gaming (POG) and problematic Internet use (PIU) have become a serious public mental health problem, with Internet gaming disorder (IGD) included in "Conditions for further study" section of DSM-5. Although higher immersive tendency is observed in people affected by POG, little is known about the simultaneous effect of immersive tendency and its highly comorbid mental disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study aimed to assess the relationship between immersive tendency, ADHD, and IGD. Methods Cross-sectional interview study was conducted in Seoul, Korea with 51 male undergraduate students; 23 active garners and 28 controls. Results Current ADHD symptoms showed partial mediation effect on the path of immersive tendency on POG and PIU. The mediation model with inattention explained variance in both POG and PIU better than other current ADHD symptom models (R-2=69.2 in POG; 69.3 in PIU). Childhood ADHD symptoms models demonstrated mediation effect on both POG and PIU which explained less variance than current ADHD symptom models (R-2 =53.7 in POG; 52.1 in PIU). Current ADHD symptoms, especially inattention, appear to mediate the effect of immersive tendency on POG/PIU. Conclusion Immersive tendencies may entail greater susceptibility to IGD, and comorbidity with ADHD may mediate the effect of immersive tendency on IGD

    How does malingered PTSD affects continuous performance task performance?

    The purpose of this study was to determine how malingered PTSD behavior affects the performance of a continuous performance task (CPT). An analog trauma group, two malingering groups (with or without educational intervention), and a control group were organized according to simulation design. During the CPT, the numbers of errors and response time indicators along with post-error slowing (PES) and recovery (PER) process were measured. Results are as follows: First, the analog trauma group showed deficits of response inhibition and a higher level of PES compared to the control group. Second, malingered PTSD caused a significant number of errors, inconsistent performance, and no PES. Third, there was a significantly more impaired and inconsistent performance in the low level of knowledge of disability. Finally, a discriminant accuracy of more than 90% appeared in the discriminant analysis of all group comparison conditions. Taken together, the results of this study show that post-error behavior indicators are affected by malingered PTSD, and differences according to the degree of knowledge of PTSD can also be confirmed. These results are expected to be used as basic data for the development of tasks for the detection of malingerers in clinical scenes in the future

    Complete mitochondrial genome of Plecia longiforceps Duda, 1933 (Diptera, Bibionidae) and its implications for the evolution of mass outbreaks in flies

    Over the past decade, the prevalence of mass outbreaks involving non-native insects has sparked concerns about their potential negative impact on human inhabited areas and local environments. Plecia longiforceps Duda, 1933 (Diptera, Bibionidae) was recently recognized as an invasive pest in South Korea, causing public nuisance through mass outbreaks in the Seoul Metropolitan Area during early summer. In this study, we present the first complete mitochondrial genome of Plecia longiforceps, generated from the PacBio HiFi long-read sequencing data. Notably, the length of the circular genome is found to be larger than any annotated reference sequences of mitochondrial genomes for the infraorder Bibionomorpha, which is attributable to an unusually long A+T rich control region. We conducted a phylogenetic analysis of Bibionomorpha, leveraging all mitochondrial genome data sequenced to date, to elucidate relationships among genera within Bibionidae. Our resulting phylogeny of Bibionomorpha recovered a strong monophyly of the family Bibionidae and its three subfamilies: Bibioninae (Bibio + Dilophus), Hesperininae (Hesperinus + Penthetria), and Pleciinae (Plecia), corroborating the recently proposed taxonomic classification system of Bibionidae. Furthermore, we discuss evolutionary trends within Bibionidae based on our well-supported higher relationships of the superfamily Bibionoidea

    Measurement and Analysis of Vibration Levels for Truck Transport Environment in Korea

    The first step in the appropriate packaging design of food, agricultural and industrial products is to conduct an accurate simulation of the vehicle transport environment, in which a power spectral density (PSD) profile is applied. Although several researchers have mentioned the limitations of PSD-based simulation, it is still widely used because accelerated test conditions can be easily generated from the PSD acquired from a particular transport section. In this study, three representative trucks and transport test routes of domestic freight transport were selected to develop a simulation protocol for a truck transport environment in Korea. These studies are needed to compare domestic transport vibration levels with those presented by the International Standards (ASTM: West Conshohocken, USA, ISTA: Chicago, USA) and to simulate damage to packaged products by domestic transport environments. The composite PSD profile for the truck transport environment was established by dividing it into high-and low-level composite PSD profiles representing the top 30% and lower 70%, respectively, of the measured vibration events based on the root-mean-square acceleration (rms G) of the measured vibration events. Also, the effects of these variables on the truck vibration level were analyzed by extracting data corresponding to the truck’s pre-planned travel speed and road conditions in the vibration records measured on the test route. Moreover, kurtosis, skewness, and normal quantile-quantity (Q-Q) analyses were conducted to understand the statistical characteristics of Korea’s truck transport environment. Statistical analysis showed that the measured vibration events had a heavy-tailed distribution and skewed to the right, causing dissymmetry. The overall rms G of the developed high-level and low-level composite PSD profiles in the range from 1 to 250 Hz were 0.47 and 0.32 for leaf-spring trucks and 0.30 and 0.14 for air-ride trucks, respectively

    Sensitivity Study of WRF Numerical Modeling for Forecasting Heavy Rainfall in Sri Lanka

    This study aimed to determine the predictability of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model with different model physics options to identify the best set of physics parameters for predicting heavy rainfall events during the southwest and northeast monsoon seasons. Two case studies were used for the evaluation: heavy precipitation during the southwest monsoon associated with the simultaneous onset of the monsoon, and a low pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal that produced heavy rain over most of the country, with heavy precipitation associated with the northeast monsoon associated with monsoon flow and easterly disturbances. The modeling results showed large variation in the rainfall estimated by the model using the various model physics schemes, but several corresponding rainfall simulations were produced with spatial distribution aligned with rainfall station data, although the amount was not estimated accurately. Moreover, the WRF model was able to capture the rainfall patterns of these events in Sri Lanka, suggesting that the model has potential for operational use in numerical weather prediction in Sri Lanka

    Estimating Age-Specific Natural Mortality for Sandfish in the Eastern Coastal Waters of Korea

    To estimate age-specific natural mortality, we proposed an age-structured biomass model with an impulsive dynamical system. In the estimation of natural mortality, we considered growth rate and also reproduction rate, growth, and catch of sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus. Assuming a linear relationship between observed values of the catch per unit effort (CPUE) and total biomass estimated by the age-structured biomass model, we estimated the age-specific natural mortality using the CPUE and catch data, from 1994 to 2009, for varying values of the assumed initial total biomass in 1994, by selecting the largest coefficient of determination (R2). We suggested the following empirical formula: Mi=qKL∞ln(eK(i+1−t0) − 1eK(i−t0) − 1), which estimated natural mortality of sandfish, and the derived age-specific natural mortality was significantly related to fecundity and growth. The parameters of von Bertalanffy growth equation and a logistic equation of maturity with total length were derived from the data of otolith and gonad analysis of female sandfish collected from 2005 to 2008 and from 2005 to 2006, respectively.
