    Acceptance sampling plan for multiple manufacturing lines using EWMA process capability index

    The problem of developing a product acceptance determination procedure for multiple characteristics has attracted the quality assurance practitioners. Due to sufficient demands of consumers, it may not be possible to deliver the quantity ordered on time using the process based on one manufacturing line. So, in factories, product is manufactured using multiple manufacturing lines and combine it. In this manuscript, we present the designing of an acceptance sampling plan for products from multiple independent manufacturing lines using exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) statistic of the process capability index. The plan parameters such as the sample size and the acceptance number will be determined by satisfying both the producer's and the consumer's risks. The efficiency of the proposed plan will be discussed over the existing sampling plan. The tables are given for industrial use and explained with the help of industrial examples. We conclude that the use of the proposed plan in these industries minimizes the cost and time of inspection. Smaller the sample size means low inspection cost. The proposed plan for some non-normal distributions can be extended as a future research.     A Time Truncated Moving Average Chart for the Weibull Distribution

    A control chart of monitoring the number of failures is proposed with a moving average scheme, when the life of an item follows a Weibull distribution. A specified number of items are put on a time truncated life test and the number of failures is observed. The proposed control chart has been evaluated by the average run lengths (ARLs) under different parameter settings. The control constant and the test time multiplier are to be determined by considering the in-control ARL.     Heat conductivity in the presence of a quantized degree of freedom

    We propose a model with a quantized degree of freedom to study the heat transport in quasi-one dimensional system. Our simulations reveal three distinct temperature regimes. In particular, the intermediate regime is characterized by heat conductivity with a temperature exponent γ\gamma much greater than 1/2 that was generally found in systems with point-like particles. A dynamical investigation indicates the occurrence of non-equipartition behavior in this regime. Moreover, the corresponding Poincar\'e section also shows remarkably characteristic patterns, completely different from the cases of point-like particles.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

    A second-order class-D audio amplifier

    Class-D audio amplifiers are particularly efficient, and this efficiency has led to their ubiquity in a wide range of modern electronic appliances. Their output takes the form of a high-frequency square wave whose duty cycle (ratio of on-time to off-time) is modulated at low frequency according to the audio signal. A mathematical model is developed here for a second-order class-D amplifier design (i.e., containing one second-order integrator) with negative feedback. We derive exact expressions for the dominant distortion terms, corresponding to a general audio input signal, and confirm these predictions with simulations. We also show how the observed phenomenon of “pulse skipping” arises from an instability of the analytical solution upon which the distortion calculations are based, and we provide predictions of the circumstances under which pulse skipping will take place, based on a stability analysis.     Aspects of the Screening Length and Drag Force in Two Alternative Gravity Duals of the Quark-gluon Plasma

    We compute the screening length of mesons with different angular momentum JJ from two gravity dual theories. Both the asymptotically AdS5AdS_{5} and Sakai-Sugimoto metrics are considered in the calculations. Using the dual description of the quark as a classical string ending on the probe brane, we obtain the interacting potential between the heavy quark and antiquark after rotating the background metric. The result shows that the screening length of mesons with different JJ is well fit to aJ/Ta_{J}/T. The constant aJa_{J} is determined for J=0,1,2J=0,1,2 by taking advantage of numerical techniques. Finally, we calculate the drag force and relaxation times from the Sakai-Sugimoto metric and compare with the ones obtained in the AdS5AdS_{5}.
