    Ansiedad entre estudiantes de primer y Ășltimo ciclo de PsicologĂ­a de una universidad privada de Trujillo

    El estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar las diferencias de ansiedad rasgo-estado entre los estudiantes de primer y Ășltimo ciclo de PsicologĂ­a de una universidad privada de Trujillo, en una muestra de 102 estudiantes de psicologĂ­a, con un mĂ©todo sustantivo, transversal, no experimental, descriptivo, comparativo, administrando el Inventario Ansiedad Rasgo-Estado (IDARE) creado por Spielberg, et al (1975). ObteniĂ©ndose como los estudiantes de psicologĂ­a del primer ciclo tienen un nivel promedio (45,7%) en ansiedad rasgo y ansiedad estado (37%), y los estudiantes de psicologĂ­a del Ășltimo ciclo un nivel bajo (37,5%) en ansiedad rasgo y ansiedad estado (35,7%), existiendo diferencias en ambos grupos en ansiedad rasgo (U=952.000, p= .019) y ansiedad estado (U=891.000, p= .006), concluyendo que las diferencias en ambos grupos se debe al grado de ansiedad percibido, siendo mayor en primer ciclo que en estudiantes del Ășltimo cicloThe study aimed to determine the differences in trait-state anxiety between psychology students in the 1st and 10th grades of a private university in Trujillo, in a sample of 102 psychology students, with a substantive, cross-sectional, non-experimental method. descriptive, comparative, administering the Trait-State Anxiety Inventory (IDARE) created by Spielberg, et al (1975).     Removal of a broken intramedullary femoral nail with an unusual pattern of breakage: a case report

    To the best of our knowledge, only 3 cases, including the present case, have been reported with a three part broken pattern. However, this is the first case associated with a distal locking screw broken. We report the case of a 31-year-old patient who sustained an open femoral shaft fracture . The fracture was stabilized with a Kuntcher femoral nail. After 7 months of the initial surgery he presented with a three part broken intramedullary nail and the distal locking screw broken. We used a combined technique for the removal of the nail through the nonunion fracture site; we used a pull out technique for the middle fragment and a curved thin hook for the distal fragment. Then we applied bone allograft and stabilized with a cannulated intramedullary femoral nail (Synthes, Oberdorf, Switzerland). After 2 years of follow up the nonunion was consolidated and the patient presented a good clinical outcome. This is of particular interest because it is a unique case and the association with a broken distal locking screw is reported for the first time in this study. A combination of methods through the nonunion site approach and an alternative instrumental is a good method for the removal of a hollow femoral intramedullary nail with this unusual pattern of breakage

    Supracondylar fracture of the humerus is the second most common fracture in children (16.6%) and the most common elbow fracture. These fractures are classified using the modified Gartland classification. Type III and type IV are considered to be totally displaced. A totally displaced fracture is one of the most difficult fractures to manage and may lead to proceeding to open procedures to achieve acceptable reductions. Many surgeons are concerned about its outcome compared to closed procedures.     Controversial topics in the management of displaced supracondylar humerus fractures in children

    The aim of our study was to review the literature looking for the up to date information regarding these controversial topics. An electronic literature search was performed using the Medline/PubMed database. A closed reduction attempt should always be done first. It is more important to engage both columns as well as divergence of the pins no matter whatever configuration is applied. Time to surgery seems to be not an important factor to increase the risk of complications as well as open reduction rate. Usually neurological injuries present a spontaneous recovery. If there is absent pulse, we should follow the algorithm associated with the perfusion of the hand

    Striatal Cholinergic Interneurons Are Required for Contending Strategy Selection While Solving Spatial Navigation Problems

    How do animals adopt a given behavioral strategy to solve a recurrent problem when several effective strategies are available to reach the goal? Here we provide evidence that striatal cholinergic interneurons (SCINs) modulate their activity when mice must select between different strategies with similar goal-reaching effectiveness. Using a cell type-specific transgenic murine system, we show that adult SCIN ablation impairs strategy selection in navigational tasks where a goal can be independently achieved by adopting an allocentric or egocentric strategy. SCIN-depleted mice learn to achieve the goal in these tasks, regardless of their appetitive or aversive nature, in a similar way as controls. However, they cannot shift away from their initially adopted strategies, as control mice do, as training progresses. Our results indicate that SCINs are required for shaping the probability function used for strategy selection as experience accumulates throughout training. Thus, SCINs may be critical for the resolution of cognitive conflicts emerging when several strategies compete for behavioral control while adapting to environmental demands. Our findings may increase our understanding about the emergence of perseverative/compulsive traits in neuropsychiatric disorders with a reported SCIN reduction, such as Tourette and Williams syndromes.Fil: Beccaria, Juan Pablo.     A polytrauma patient with an unusual posterior fracture-dislocation of the femoral head: a case report

    We report a case of a 27-year-old man who was involved in a high-speed car accident. He sustained multiple organ damage including multiple brain petechiae suggesting diffuse axonal damage, aortic dissection, retroperitoneal haematoma and a fracture-dislocation of the right hip with a femoral head fracture and an ipsilateral intertrochanteric fracture. Due to the general condition of the patient, physiological stabilisation was prioritized, and at 2 weeks the fracture-dislocation of the hip was treated with a proximal femoral nail for the intertrochanteric fracture and Herbert screws for the femoral head fracture. Postoperatively, two episodes of recurrent hip dislocation occurred, and this was stabilized eventually with a Steinman pin inserted across the hip joint and taken out 1 month later. Weight-bearing was allowed according to clinical and radiographical assessments. Heterotopic ossification developed around the hip joint, but without evidence of AVN or osteoarthritis. At 18-months follow-up, the fractures had healed and the patient had a Harris Hip score of 79.1. Anatomical reduction and stable fixation of fracture-dislocations of the hip are important for achieving an acceptable result

    Early NMDA receptor ablation in interneurons causes an activity-dependent E/I imbalance in vivo in prefrontal cortex pyramidal neurons of a mouse model useful for the study of schizophrenia

    Altered Excitatory/Inhibitory (E/I) balance of cortical synaptic inputs has been proposed as a central pathophysiological factor for psychiatric neurodevelopmental disorders, including schizophrenia (SZ). However, direct measurement of E/I synaptic balance have not been assessed in vivo for any validated SZ animal model. Using a mouse model useful for the study of SZ we show that a selective ablation of NMDA receptors (NMDAr) in cortical and hippocampal interneurons during early postnatal development results in an E/I imbalance in vivo, with synaptic inputs to pyramidal neurons shifted towards excitation in the adult mutant medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC). Remarkably, this imbalance depends on the cortical state, only emerging when theta and gamma oscillations are predominant in the network. Additional brain slice recordings and subsequent 3D morphological reconstruction showed that E/I imbalance emerges after adolescence concomitantly with significant dendritic retraction and dendritic spine re-localization in pyramidal neurons. Therefore, early postnatal ablation of NMDAr in cortical and hippocampal interneurons developmentally impacts on E/I imbalance in vivo in an activity-dependent manner.Fil: Pafundo, Diego Esteban.     Mejora en la gestiĂłn del almacĂ©n para reducir los costos logĂ­sticos en la empresa Agroindustrial del PerĂș S.A.C., 2019

    El estudio se desarrollĂł en las instalaciones de la empresa Agroindustrial del PerĂș S.A.C. y consistiĂł en evaluar la gestiĂłn del ĂĄrea de almacĂ©n de dicha organizaciĂłn, ello con la finalidad de identificar la problemĂĄtica actual y oportunidades de mejora que den soluciĂłn para minimizar los costos logĂ­sticos de la empresa. La investigaciĂłn fue de tipo diseño preexperimental, con una pre-prueba (situaciĂłn inicial de los costos logĂ­sticos) y una post-prueba (situaciĂłn final de los costos logĂ­sticos) a fin de determinar la variaciĂłn obtenida al aplicar las mejoras en la gestiĂłn del ĂĄrea de almacĂ©n de la mencionada empresa, concluyĂ©ndose que dichas mejoras lograron reducir los costos logĂ­sticos en un 1.15%, con un valor de S/ 33,504,448.31 (situaciĂłn inicial) a S/ 33,120,094.31 (despuĂ©s de las mejoras)
