Charged Cylindrical Black Holes in Conformal Gravity

    Get PDF
Considering cylindrical topology we present the static solution for a charged black hole in conformal gravity. We show that unlike the general relativistic case there are two different solutions, both including a factor that when set to zero recovers the familiar static charged black string solution in Einstein's theory. This factor gives rise to a linear term in the potential that also features in the neutral case and may have significant ramifications for particle trajectories.Comment: 8 page

Exact Static Cylindrical Solution to Conformal Weyl Gravity

    Get PDF
We present the exact exterior solution for a static and neutral cylindrically symmetric source in locally conformal invariant Weyl gravity. As a special case the general relativity analogue still can be attained, however only as a sub-family of solutions. Our solution contains a linear term that would thus result in a potential that grows linearly over large distances. This may have implications for exotic astrophysical structures as well as matter fields on the extremely small scale.Comment: 8 pages, Physical Review

Advancing Sustainability via the Development of the Modified Environmental, Social and Governance Disclosure Index (MESGi) for Malaysian Public Listed Companies

    Get PDF
The paper aims to explain the development of the modified environmental, social governance disclosure index (MESGi) for the Malaysian public listed companies. MESGi consists of 130 items will serve as a holistic and comprehensive checklist to evaluate the extent of environmental, social and governance information disclosure on companies annual and sustainability reports. It is hoped that the MESGi would enhance the level of disclosure by companies as the checklist includes both local and international items that have been developed in a detailed process. As well, it is hoped that the MESGi would assist more Malaysian companies to be listed in the FTSE4Good Index. This would in turn assist in advancing the sustainability agenda in the Malaysian business environment

Understanding the in vivo Uptake Kinetics of a Phosphatidylethanolamine-binding Agent \u3csup\u3e99m\u3c/sup\u3eTc-Duramycin

Introduction 99mTc-Duramycin is a peptide-based molecular probe that binds specifically to phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). The goal was to characterize the kinetics of molecular interactions between 99mTc-Duramycin and the target tissue. Methods High level of accessible PE is induced in cardiac tissues by myocardial ischemia (30 min) and reperfusion (120 min) in Sprague–Dawley rats. Target binding and biodistribution of 99mTc-duramycin were captured using SPECT/CT. To quantify the binding kinetics, the presence of radioactivity in ischemic versus normal cardiac tissues was measured by gamma counting at 3, 10, 20, 60 and 180 min after injection. A partially inactivated form of 99mTc-Duramycin was analyzed in the same fashion. A compartment model was developed to quantify the uptake kinetics of 99mTc-Duramycin in normal and ischemic myocardial tissue. Results 99mTc-duramycin binds avidly to the damaged tissue with a high target-to-background radio. Compartment modeling shows that accessibility of binding sites in myocardial tissue to 99mTc-Duramycin is not a limiting factor and the rate constant of target binding in the target tissue is at 2.2 ml/nmol/min/g. The number of available binding sites for 99mTc-Duramycin in ischemic myocardium was estimated at 0.14 nmol/g. Covalent modification of D15 resulted in a 9-fold reduction in binding affinity. Conclusion 99mTc-Duramycin accumulates avidly in target tissues in a PE-dependent fashion. Model results reflect an efficient uptake mechanism, consistent with the low molecular weight of the radiopharmaceutical and the relatively high density of available binding sites. These data help better define the imaging utilities of 99mTc-Duramycin as a novel PE-binding agent

Development of the Modified Strategic Management Accounting Disclosure Index (MoSMADi) for Companies’ Decision-Making, Control and Monitoring of Business Strategies in Attaining Business Sustainability

The paper aims to explain the development of the modified strategic management accounting disclosure index. The main purpose of strategic management accounting information is to support companies' decision-making, control, and monitoring of business strategies to attain business sustainability. The Modified Strategic Management Accounting Disclosure index which consists of 70 items aims to serve as a holistic and comprehensive checklist to evaluate the extent of strategic management accounting information disclosure on companies' annual reports. It is hoped that the modified strategic management accounting disclosure index would enhance the level of strategic management accounting information disclosure by companies as the checklist is developed based on international and national criteria to highlight the benefits of having the index. The purpose of developing this index is to provide a coherent framework to ensure business sustainability and the need for strategic management accounting information for decision-making, control, and monitoring of the company’s strategies in pursuit

Ghost and Laplacian Instabilities in the Teleparallel Horndeski Gravity

Teleparallel geometry offers a platform on which to build up theories of gravity where torsion rather than curvature mediates gravitational interaction. The teleparallel analogue of Horndeski gravity is an approach to teleparallel geometry where scalar-tensor theories are considered in this torsional framework. Being teleparallel gravity of lower order in dynamics, this turns out to be more general than metric Horndeski gravity. In other words, the class of teleparallel Horndeski gravity models is much broader than the standard metric one. In this work, we explore constraints on this wide range of models coming from ghost and Laplacian instabilities. The aim is to limit pathological branches of the theory by fundamental considerations. It is possible to conclude that a very large class of models results physically viable
