    Change of the yield stress in roll formed ERW pipes considering the Bauschinger effect

    ERW pipes formed with the roll forming process show a yield stress distribution along the circumferential direction and their quality is strongly influenced by the magnitude and by the distributions of the yield stress. In addition to that, strips are subjected to cyclic loading during roll forming process. Since ERW pipes are firstly roll formed, welded and then sized, in order to develop an enhanced predicting method for the calculation of the ERW pipe yield stress, the same process flow has been also applied to authors\u2019 numerical simulations. The Yoshida-Uemori kinematic hardening model has been applied considering several subdivision of the strain range, and different parameters, aiming to find the best correlation between the estimated Bauschinger effect and the one measured in the relevant cyclic loading experiment. The comparisons between estimated and experimentally-measured values of the thickness distribution, and of the locally-measured yield stress, prove both reliability and accuracy of the adopted process chain analysis. The growth of the sizing effect ratio has shown to cause the increase of the yield stress, which becomes more uniform along the circumferential direction

    Development and Validation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Photogrammetry Simulator for Shaded Area Detection

    In unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry, the qualities of three-dimensional (3D) models, including ground sample distance (GSD) and shaded areas, are strongly affected by flight planning. However, during flight planning, the quality of the output cannot be estimated, as it depends on the experience of the operator. Therefore, to reduce the time and cost incurred by repetitive work required to obtain satisfactory quality, a simulator, which can automatically generate a route, acquire images through simulation, and analyze the shaded areas without real flight, has been required. While some simulators have been developed, there are some limitations. Furthermore, evaluating the performance of the simulator is difficult owing to the lack of a validation method. Therefore, to overcome the limitations, target functions, which can plan flights and can detect shaded areas, were set, developed, and validated in this study. As a result, a simulator successfully planned a flight and detected shaded areas. In this way, the simulator was validated to determine the applicability of its performance. Furthermore, the outputs of this study can be applied to not only UAV photogrammetry simulators but also other 3D modeling simulators

    Task Balanced Workflow Scheduling Technique considering Task Processing Rate in Spot Market

    Recently, the cloud computing is a computing paradigm that constitutes an advanced computing environment that evolved from the distributed computing. And the cloud computing provides acquired computing resources in a pay-as-you-go manner. For example, Amazon EC2 offers the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) instances in three different ways with different price, reliability, and various performances of instances. Our study is based on the environment using spot instances. Spot instances can significantly decrease costs compared to reserved and on-demand instances. However, spot instances give a more unreliable environment than other instances. In this paper, we propose the workflow scheduling scheme that reduces the out-of-bid situation. Consequently, the total task completion time is decreased. The simulation results reveal that, compared to various instance types, our scheme achieves performance improvements in terms of an average combined metric of 12.76% over workflow scheme without considering the processing rate. However, the cost in our scheme is higher than an instance with low performance and is lower than an instance with high performance
