Molding process for imidazopyrrolone polymers
A process is described for producing shaped articles of imidazopyrrolone polymers comprising molding imidazopyrrolone polymer molding power under pressure and at a temperature greater than 475 C. Moderate pressures may be employed. Preferably, prior to molding, a preform is prepared by isostatic compression. The preform may be molded at a relatively low initial pressure and temperature; as the temperature is increased to a value greater than 475 C., the pressure is also increased
Microstructure Controlled Shear Band Pattern Formation and Enhanced Plasticity of Bulk Metallic Glasses Containing in situ Formed Ductile Phase Dendrite Dispersions
Results are presented for a ductile metal reinforced bulk metallic glass matrix composite based on glass forming compositions in the Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-Be system. Primary dendrite growth and solute partitioning in the molten state yields a microstructure consisting of a ductile crystalline Ti-Zr-Nb β phase, with bcc structure, in a Zr-Ti-Nb-Cu-Ni-Be bulk metallic glass matrix. Under unconstrained mechanical loading organized shear band patterns develop throughout the sample. This results in a dramatic increase in the plastic strain to failure, impact resistance, and toughness of the metallic glass

Large supercooled liquid region and phase separation in the Zr–Ti–Ni–Cu–Be bulk metallic glasses
Results of calorimetric, differential thermal analysis, and structural measurements are presented for a series of bulk metallic glass forming compositions in the Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-Be alloy system. The calorimetric data for five alloys, prepared along the tie line between phase separating and nonphase separating compositions, show that the transition from phase separating to nonphase separating behavior is smooth. The bulk glasses near the center of the tie line exhibit large supercooled liquid regions: Delta T approximate to 135 K, the largest known for a bulk metallic glass
Viscous flow of the Cu47-Ti34-Zr11-Ni8 glass forming alloy
The viscosity of the Cu47-Ti34-Zr11-Ni8 glass forming alloy was determined by beam bending experiments and by a noncontact oscillating drop technique. These viscosity data can be described with the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann relation. Using the strong/fragile classification of glasses, Cu47-Ti34-Zr11-Ni8 is more fragile than the strong Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-Be metallic glass formers
Image tube
An optical image is projected onto a planar surface of a photocathode that derives an electron beam replica of the image. A target electrode displaced relative to the photocathode so that it does not obstruct the optical image includes a planar surface for receiving and deriving an accurate replica of the electron beam image. The two planar surfaces are parallel. The electron beam image is focused on the target electrode by providing throughout a region that extends between the planar surfaces of the photocathode and receiving electrode, constant homogeneous dc electric and magnetic fields. The electric field extends in a direction perpendicular to the planar surfaces while the magnetic field extends along a straight line that intersects the photocathode and target electrode at an acute angle
A magnetically focused image tube employing an opaque photocathode
Image converter has been developed which uses opaque photocathode for improved efficiency. Device is easier to fabricate than previous semi-transparent photocathode converters and uses compounds from Groups 3-5 that are responsive to wave-lengths between ultraviolet (approximately 100 nm) and near infrared region (approximately 1000 nm)
