Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the prognostic performance of a 6-gene molecular score (OncoMasTR Molecular Score [OMm]) and a composite risk score (OncoMasTR Risk Score [OM]) and to conduct a within-patient comparison against four routinely used molecular and clinicopathological risk assessment tools: Oncotype DX Recurrence Score, Ki67, Nottingham Prognostic Index and Clinical Risk Category, based on the modified Adjuvant! Online definition and three risk factors: patient age, tumour size and grade. Methods: Biospecimens and clinicopathological information for 404 Irish women also previously enrolled in the Trial Assigning Individualized Options for Treatment [Rx] were provided by 11 participating hospitals, as the primary objective of an independent translational study. Gene expression measured via RT-qPCR was used to calculate OMm and OM. The prognostic value for distant recurrence-free survival (DRFS) and invasive disease-free survival (IDFS) was assessed using Cox proportional hazards models and Kaplan-Meier analysis. All statistical tests were two-sided ones. Results: OMm and OM (both with likelihood ratio statistic [LRS] P Discussion: Both OncoMasTR scores were significantly prognostic for DRFS and IDFS and provided additional prognostic information to the molecular and clinicopathological risk factors/tools assessed. OM was also the most accurate risk classification tool for identifying DR. A concise 6-gene signature with superior risk stratification was shown to increase prognosis reliability, which may help clinicians optimise treatment decisions. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT02050750 NCT00310180.</p

The authors analyzed the current situation in the grain industry and proposed organizational improvements in the form of the author's alternative method, which minimizes the queues at grain purchases and ensures continuity of storage operation in emergency situations

Digital Stereotypes in HMI—The Influence of Feature Quantity Distribution in Deep Learning Models Training

    No full text
This paper proposes a concept of Digital Stereotypes, observed during research on quantitative overrepresentation of one class over others, and its impact on the results of the training of Deep Learning models. The real-life observed data classes are rarely of the same size, and the intuition of presenting multiple examples of one class and then showing a few counterexamples may be very misleading in multimodal classification. Deep Learning models, when taught with overrepresentation, may produce incorrect inferring results, similar to stereotypes. The generic idea of stereotypes seems to be helpful for categorisation from the training point of view, but it has a negative influence on the inferring result. Authors evaluate a large dataset in various scenarios: overrepresentation of one or two classes, underrepresentation of some classes, and same-size (trimmed) classes. The presented research can be applied to any multiclassification applications, but it may be especially important in AI, where the classification, uncertainty and building new knowledge overlap. This paper presents specific ’decreases in accuracy’ observed within multiclassification of unleveled datasets. The ’decreases in accuracy’, named by the authors ’stereotypes’, can also bring an inspiring insight into other fields and applications, not only multimodal sentiment analysis

In addition, it is to verify the knowledge of transport company employees about telematics tools and propose specific actions that transport companies should take to ensure proper functioning of the transport system. To verify the objective, the following research tools were used: comparisons, generalizations and a survey conducted among the employees of transport companies. In addition, direct interviews were conducted with the transport company management

Implementation of a Hybrid Intelligence System Enabling the Effectiveness Assessment of Interaction Channels Use in HMI

    No full text
The article presents a novel idea of Interaction Quality Sensor (IQS), introduced in the complete solution of Hybrid INTelligence (HINT) architecture for intelligent control systems. The proposed system is designed to use and prioritize multiple information channels (speech, images, videos) in order to optimize the information flow efficiency of interaction in HMI systems. The proposed architecture is implemented and validated in a real-world application of training unskilled workers—new employees (with lower competencies and/or a language barrier). With the help of the HINT system, the man–machine communication information channels are deliberately chosen based on IQS readouts to enable an untrained, inexperienced, foreign employee candidate to become a good worker, while not requiring the presence of either an interpreter or an expert during training. The proposed implementation is in line with the labor market trend, which displays significant fluctuations. The HINT system is designed to activate human resources and support organizations/enterprises in the effective assimilation of employees to the tasks performed on the production assembly line. The market need of solving this noticeable problem was caused by a large migration of employees within (and between) enterprises. The research results presented in the work show significant benefits of the methods used, while supporting multilingualism and optimizing the preselection of information channels

    No full text
Background. Proper diagnosis of pancreatic lesion etiology is a challenging clinical dilemma. Studies suggest that surgery for suspected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) reveals a benign lesion in 5% to 13% of cases. The aim of our study was to assess whether routinely used biomarkers such as CA19-9, Ca125, Ca15-3, and CEA, when combined, can potentially yield an accurate test predicting pancreatic lesion etiology. Methods. We retrospectively analyzed data of 326 patients who underwent a diagnostic process due to pancreatic lesions of unknown etiology. Results. We found statistically significant differences in mean levels of all biomarkers. In logistic regression model, we applied levels CA19-9, Ca125, and Ca15-3 as variables. Two validation methods were used, namely, random data split into training and validation groups and bootstrapping. Afterward, we built ROC curve using the model that we had created, reaching AUC = 0,801. With an optimal cut-off point, it achieved specificity of 81,2% and sensitivity of 63,10%. Our proposed model has superior diagnostic accuracy to both CA19-9 (p = 0,0194) and CA125 (p = 0,0026). Conclusion. We propose a test that is superior to CA19-9 in a differential diagnosis of pancreatic lesion etiology. Although our test fails to reach exceptionally high accuracy, its feasibility and cost-effectiveness make it clinically useful
