    A survey on human performance capture and animation

    With the rapid development of computing technology, three-dimensional (3D) human body models and their dynamic motions are widely used in the digital entertainment industry. Human perfor- mance mainly involves human body shapes and motions. Key research problems include how to capture and analyze static geometric appearance and dynamic movement of human bodies, and how to simulate human body motions with physical e�ects. In this survey, according to main research directions of human body performance capture and animation, we summarize recent advances in key research topics, namely human body surface reconstruction, motion capture and synthesis, as well as physics-based motion sim- ulation, and further discuss future research problems and directions.     Neutron Energy Spectrum Measurements with a Compact Liquid Scintillation Detector on EAST

    A neutron detector based on EJ301 liquid scintillator has been employed at EAST to measure the neutron energy spectrum for D-D fusion plasma. The detector was carefully characterized in different quasi-monoenergetic neutron fields generated by a 4.5 MV Van de Graaff accelerator. In recent experimental campaigns, due to the low neutron yield at EAST, a new shielding device was designed and located as close as possible to the tokamak to enhance the count rate of the spectrometer. The fluence of neutrons and gamma-rays was measured with the liquid neutron spectrometer and was consistent with 3He proportional counter and NaI (Tl) gamma-ray spectrometer measurements. Plasma ion temperature values were deduced from the neutron spectrum in discharges with lower hybrid wave injection and ion cyclotron resonance heating. Scattered neutron spectra were simulated by the Monte Carlo transport Code, and they were well verified by the pulse height measurements at low energies.Comment: 19 pages,10 figures, 1 tabl

    Rethinking the Metric in Few-shot Learning: From an Adaptive Multi-Distance Perspective

    Few-shot learning problem focuses on recognizing unseen classes given a few labeled images. In recent effort, more attention is paid to fine-grained feature embedding, ignoring the relationship among different distance metrics. In this paper, for the first time, we investigate the contributions of different distance metrics, and propose an adaptive fusion scheme, bringing significant improvements in few-shot classification. We start from a naive baseline of confidence summation and demonstrate the necessity of exploiting the complementary property of different distance metrics. By finding the competition problem among them, built upon the baseline, we propose an Adaptive Metrics Module (AMM) to decouple metrics fusion into metric-prediction fusion and metric-losses fusion. The former encourages mutual complementary, while the latter alleviates metric competition via multi-task collaborative learning. Based on AMM, we design a few-shot classification framework AMTNet, including the AMM and the Global Adaptive Loss (GAL), to jointly optimize the few-shot task and auxiliary self-supervised task, making the embedding features more robust. In the experiment, the proposed AMM achieves 2% higher performance than the naive metrics fusion module, and our AMTNet outperforms the state-of-the-arts on multiple benchmark datasets

V první části práce se vyskytuje popis technologií CUDA a OpenCL, ve kterých je později třídící algoritmus implementován. Dále je rozebrán princip daného algoritmu a jeho implementace. Následuje profilování a optimalizace třídícího algoritmu. V poslední částí je testování algoritmů na různých grafických kartách a porovnání obou technologií.This thesis deals with the processing tasks to the graphics card. Specific types of tasks are selected sorting algorithms. The first part includes description CUDA and OpenCL technology in which sorting algorithm is implemented. Next it is described the principle of the algorithm and its implementation. Next step is profiling and optimization of sorting algorithm.     Bibliometric analysis of research on the role of intestinal microbiota in obesity

    Background Obesity is a key public health problem. The advancement of gut microbiota research sheds new light on this field. This article aims to present the research trends in global intestinal microbiota studies within the domain of obesity research. Methods Bibliographic information of the publications on intestinal microbiota and obesity was retrieved from the Scopus database, and then analyzed by using bibliometric approaches. Results A total of 3,446 references were retrieved; the data indicated a steady growth and an exponential increase in publication numbers. The references were written in 23 different languages (93.8% in English). A number of 3,056 English journal papers were included in the further analyses. Among the 940 journals, the most prolific ones were PLOS ONE, Scientific Reports, and British Journal of Nutrition. North America and Europe were the highest publication output areas. The US (995 publications) ranked first in the number of publications, followed by the China (243 publications) and France (242 publications). The publication numbers were significantly correlated with gross domestic product (GDP), human development index (HDI), and population number (PN). International collaboration analysis also shows that most of the collaborations are among developed countries. Discussion This comprehensive bibliometric study indicates that gut microbiota is a significant topic in the obesity research. The structured information may be helpful in understanding research trends, and locating research hot spots and gaps in this domain

    Identification, expression and IAA-amide synthetase activity analysis of Gretchen Hagen 3 in papaya fruit (Carica papaya L.) during postharvest process

    Auxin plays essential roles in plant development. Gretchen Hagen 3 (GH3) genes belong to a major auxin response gene family and GH3 proteins conjugate a range of acylsubstrates to alter the levels of hormones. Currently, the role of GH3 genes in postharvest physiological regulation of ripening and softening processes in papaya fruit is unclear. In this study, we identified seven CpGH3 genes in a papaya genome database. The CpGH3.1a, CpGH3.1b, CpGH3.5, CpGH3.6, and CpGH3.9 proteins were identified as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA)-specific amido synthetases. We analyzed the changes in IAA-amido synthetase activity using aspartate as a substrate for conjugation and found a large increase (over 5-fold) during the postharvest stages. Ascorbic acid (AsA) application can extend the shelf life of papaya fruit. Our data showed that AsA treatment regulates postharvest fruit maturation processes by promoting endogenous IAA levels.     The devastating clinical consequences associated with human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection and reactivation underscores the importance of understanding triggers of HCMV reactivation in dendritic cells (DC). Here we show that ERK-mediated reactivation is dependent on the mitogen and stress activated kinase (MSK) family. Furthermore, this MSK mediated response is dependent on CREB binding to the viral major immediate early promoter (MIEP). Specifically, CREB binding to the MIEP provides the target for MSK recruitment. Importantly, MSK mediated phosphorylation of histone H3 is required to promote histone de-methylation and the subsequent exit of HCMV from latency. Taken together, these data suggest that CREB binding to the MIEP is necessary for the recruitment of the kinase activity of MSKs to initiate the chromatin remodelling at the MIEP required for reactivation. Thus the importance of CREB during HCMV reactivation is to promote chromatin modifications conducive for viral gene expression as well as acting as a classical transcription factor. Clearly, specific inhibition of this interaction between CREB and MSKs could provide a strategy for therapeutic intervention

    Improvement in airflow and temperature distribution with an in-rack UFAD system at a high-density data center

    This paper introduced and analyzed a new concept where an under-floor air supply (UFAD) system with cold aisle containment (CAC) is replaced by a new in-rack UFAD system called an in-rack cold aisle (IR-CA). The IR-CA system is analyzed using CFD simulation, and on-site measurement was carried out to validate the feasibility and reliability of simulation models. The study is divided into eight cases with seven different dimensions for the rack air inlet (2.2 m × 0.6 m, 0.2 m × 0.6 m, 0.3 m × 0.6 m, 0.4 m × 0.6 m, 0.5 m × 0.6 m, 0.6 m × 0.6 m, and 0.7 m × 0.6 m), while an additional partition plane is placed in Case 8 with a 0.6 m × 0.6-m in-rack air inlet. The thermal distribution is compared and analyzed in the eight cases, while cooling efficiency and energy saving is compared between the original and optimal cases. The results showed that the optimal thermal distribution is achieved in Case 8 with a 0.6 m × 0.6 m IR-CA and partition plane, while the thermal distribution in Case 8 with SAT of 23 °C is stillmuch better than that in the original DC. The application of a 0.6 m × 0.6 m IR-CA and partition plane can save approximately 98 kW h/day in electricity consumption in the studied DC. A new evaluation index named the MS index is proposed to evaluate the optimization effects of the optimization model based on the original model.Peer reviewe
