The Role of Social Variables in U.S. Consumer Loyalty regarding Chinese Consumer Electronics

    Get PDF
Despite numerous studies on consumer attitudes toward Chinese products and the consumer trust-satisfaction-loyalty link, little empirical work has been conducted to investigate the causal effects of social variables, such as social influence and word-of-mouth, and the consumer satisfaction-loyalty link of Chinese consumer electronics within the U.S. market. Thus, this study developed a conceptual model to examine the significant effects of word-of-mouth on consumers’ trust, satisfaction, and loyalty regarding consumer electronics which are made in China. This study utilized two types of social variables: word-of-mouth and social influence, and has explored the relations between the two social variables and two dimensions of consciousness: health consciousness and price consciousness. Within the model, the relations between the trust-satisfaction-loyalty link and two dimensions of consciousness have been tested.Human Development and Consumer Sciences, Department o

Correlations between aesthetic preferences of river and landscape characters

    Get PDF
Some landscape characters put great influences on the aesthetic preferences of a river. Finding out these characters will provide for river landscape design and management with explicit keystones. In this paper, 23 sample areas of rivers were selected in Xuzhou, China, and 15 landscape characters of rivers were identified. The photos taken at the sample areas were as stimuli, and undergraduate students were respondents. The results demonstrate that the aesthetic preferences of photos judged one-by-one and judged together receive similar results; the preference scores of deflective views are significantly higher than the ones of opposite views; for urban rivers, “river accessibility” and “number of colours” are reliably positive predictors to aesthetic preferences, “wood diversity index” and “plants on water” are negative ones; for rural rivers, “coverage of riparian vegetation”, “perspective” and “wood diversity index” are reliably positive predictors to aesthetic preferences. Demonstration of 4H silicon carbide on aluminum nitride integrated photonics platform

The existing silicon-carbide-on-insulator photonic platform utilizes a thin layer of silicon dioxide under silicon carbide to provide optical confinement and mode isolation. Here, we replace the underneath silicon dioxide layer with a 1-μ\mum-thick aluminum nitride and demonstrate a 4H-silicon-carbide-on-aluminum-nitride integrated photonics platform for the first time. Efficient grating couplers, low-loss waveguides, and compact microring resonators with intrinsic quality factors up to 210,000 are fabricated. In addition, by undercutting the aluminum nitride layer, the intrinsic quality factor of the silicon carbide microring is improved by nearly one order of magnitude (1.8 million). Finally, an optical pump-probe method is developed to measure the thermal conductivity of the aluminum nitride layer, which is estimated to be over 30 times of that of silicon dioxide

Efficient Unbalanced Quorum PSI from Homomorphic Encryption

Multiparty private set intersection (mPSI) protocol is capable of finding the intersection of multiple sets securely without revealing any other information. However, its limitation lies in processing only those elements present in every participant\u27s set, which proves inadequate in scenarios where certain elements are common to several, but not all, sets. In this paper, we introduce an innovative variant of the mPSI protocol named unbalanced quorum PSI to fill in the gaps of the mPSI protocol. Unlike the previous quorum-PSI proposals which detect elements present in at least kk out of nn equal sets, our protocol is particularly tailored for unbalanced cases where the size of the receiver\u27s set is much smaller than the size of the senders\u27 sets. Our work achieves logarithmic communication complexity in the semi-honest setting, significantly surpassing previous work in efficiency. The benchmarks show that it takes 22.7 seconds in WAN and 14.7 seconds in LAN for online computation, and only 87.8 MB of total communication to intersect 5535 elements across 15 sets, each containing 2242^{24} elements. Compared to prior work, this is roughly an 87×\times reduction in communication and a 31×\times reduction in online time. Our protocols can be easily extended to the larger set with 2282^{28} elements which is nearly impractical for prior work

Isolation and Characterization of Few-layer Manganese Thiophosphite

This work reports an experimental study on an antiferromagnetic honeycomb lattice of MnPS3_3 that couples the valley degree of freedom to a macroscopic antiferromagnetic order. The crystal structure of MnPS3_3 is identified by high resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy. Layer dependent angle resolved polarized Raman fingerprints of the MnPS3_3 crystal are obtained and the Raman peak at 383 cm1^{-1} exhibits 100% polarity. Temperature dependences of anisotropic magnetic susceptibility of MnPS3_3 crystal are measured in superconducting quantum interference device. Magnetic parameters like effective magnetic moment, and exchange interaction are extracted from the mean field approximation mode. Ambipolar electronic transport channels in MnPS3_3 are realized by the liquid gating technique. The conducting channel of MnPS3_3 offers a unique platform for exploring the spin/valleytronics and magnetic orders in 2D limitation.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figure

Novel biomarkers predict prognosis and drug-induced neuroendocrine differentiation in patients with prostate cancer

    Get PDF
BackgroundA huge focus is being placed on the development of novel signatures in the form of new combinatorial regimens to distinguish the neuroendocrine (NE) characteristics from castration resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) timely and accurately, as well as predict the disease-free survival (DFS) and progression-free survival (PFS) of prostate cancer (PCa) patients.MethodsSingle cell data of 4 normal samples, 3 CRPC samples and 3 CRPC-NE samples were obtained from GEO database, and CellChatDB was used for potential intercellular communication, Secondly, using the “limma” package (v3.52.0), we obtained the differential expressed genes between CRPC and CRPC-NE both in single-cell RNA seq and bulk RNA seq samples, and discovered 12 differential genes characterized by CRPC-NE. Then, on the one hand, the diagnosis model of CRPC-NE is developed by random forest algorithm and artificial neural network (ANN) through Cbioportal database; On the other hand, using the data in Cbioportal and GEO database, the DFS and PFS prognostic model of PCa was established and verified through univariate Cox analysis, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso) regression and multivariate Cox regression in R software. Finally, somatic mutation and immune infiltration were also discussed.ResultsOur research shows that there exists specific intercellular communication in classified clusters. Secondly, a CRPC-NE diagnostic model of six genes (HMGN2, MLLT11, SOX4, PCSK1N, RGS16 and PTMA) has been established and verified, the area under the ROC curve (AUC) is as high as 0.952 (95% CI: 0.882−0.994). The mutation landscape shows that these six genes are rarely mutated in the CRPC and NEPC samples. In addition, NE-DFS signature (STMN1 and PCSK1N) and NE-PFS signature (STMN1, UBE2S and HMGN2) are good predictors of DFS and PFS in PCa patients and better than other clinical features. Lastly, the infiltration levels of plasma cells, T cells CD4 naive, Eosinophils and Monocytes were significantly different between the CRPC and NEPC groups.ConclusionsThis study revealed the heterogeneity between CRPC and CRPC-NE from different perspectives, and developed a reliable diagnostic model of CRPC-NE and robust prognostic models for PCa
