    The evolution of human civilization witnessed health related consequences of many incurable diseases. The medical science developed gradually and combated effectively against such types of fatal diseases, but incurable or pandemic outbreak scarred whole word time by time. The whole world currently fighting against pandemic disease and in this situation the human civilization not only facing healthcare but economic burden also. The Ayurveda system described such pandemic conditions as consequences of Sankramak Roga and Ayurveda philosopher believe that pandemic condition arises due to the vitiation of Jala, Vayu & Doshas, etc. Ayurveda Samhita mentioned role of Krimi in the development of infectious disease and when such infection occurs in very short period of time on large scale then it becomes pandemic. Ayurveda suggested Nidaan Parivarjana, Panchakarma, Rasayana therapy and lifestyle modification for the management of such conditions

    The development of medical system in India witnessed by all common era and the seeding of ancient ayurveda science starts from early development of civilization. The emergence of traditional medical system involves description of religious medicine practiced from the Vedic period in India. The initial development phase of natural medical system later on shaped as Ayurveda which encompasses various logical and rational concept related to the health and well being. The theory and practice of ayurveda mainly based on experimental conclusion of vaidya and ancient practitioners. Similarly the historical perspective of infectious diseases is very vast as per the modern and traditional science. Ayurveda researchers and practitioners described various types of infectious diseases time by time and also offered textual evidences of pathogenic organisms. This article presented historical review on infectious diseases as per ayurveda in a view to explore ayurveda perspective of such diseases and their causative organisms.     Grahani is an ayurveda terms related to the seat of agni (digestive fire), which help in the metabolism and digestion of food. The ancient text of ayurveda described that ingestion, digestion, absorption and assimilation of Aahaar is regulated by Grahani. When this Agni becomes; mandagni then improper digestion of ingested food leads pathological condition termed as Grahani roga. Similarly Trividh anomalies of the Jatharagni also termed as Grahanidosha. Grahani is a disease which affects large population globally especially in developing country and associated with improper food habits along with stressful lifestyle. The pathogenesis of Grahani roga works around Agnidosha which associated with impaired digestive function of digestive fire. Ayurveda described various treatment modalities for the management of Grahani roga such as; use of herbs & formulation, yoga and life style modification.     Charak the ancient Acharya of traditional medical practice described Doshavikriti and Agantuj as major factors responsible for disease prevalence. Doshavikriti is internal factors related to Dosha vitiation and Agantuj is external factor which involve role of contaminated water, food, microbes and trauma in diseases occurrence. Ayurveda text mentioned Kustha , Jwara, Shosha and Netrabhishyanda as diseases which spreads one to another through direct or indirect contact. The Prasnaga, Gatra Sansparsha, eating & sleeping together, sharing cloths & ornaments are some mode of transmission of infectious diseases. There are significant correlations between ayurveda and modern literature available on infectious diseases. However some descriptions on specific diseases mentioned in ayurveda text differ from modern text up to some extent. Therefore it is required to present modern and ayurveda aspects of infectious diseases, considering same present article summarizes correlation between ayurveda and modern text on some infectious diseases. Ayurveda considered Ahara, Nidra and Brahmacarya as important parts of life for achieving goal of Swasthavritta. Nidra is a state of complete physical and mental relaxation of body which play vital role towards the good health status. There are some factors which may disturb physiology of Nidra leading to condition of sleeplessness/insomnia (Anidra). Anidra is abnormal physiological condition which greatly affects quality of life and this problem increasing day by day due to the enhanced level of stress, diversified environmental condition, disturb pattern of life style and bad dietary habits. It is very important for physician society to put focus attention to reduces prevalence of this issue. Ayurveda mentioned different therapeutic approaches for the management condition of insomnia including use of natural herbs, formulation, Shodhna Chikitsa and good conduction of Ahara-Vihara.     Concept of essential hypertension in Ayurvedic perspectives

    Essential hypertension is an instrumental disease which is the recent diagnostic invention of modern science. However there is no any reference which directly resembles with its pathophysiological views in Ayurvedic classics. Lots of works have been carried out on concept of hypertension to evaluate the perfect diagnosis and mode of treatment on the basis of Ayurvedic principles, but a widely acceptable theory is still not available. Different nomenclatures also have been adopted by Ayurvedic researchers like Rakta pradoshaj Vyadhi, Uchharaktachapa and Uchharaktabhara etc. on the basis of pathophysiology and symptoms of disease. Different diseases were considered parallels to hypertension such as; Raktagata Vata, Raktavrita Vata, Pranavrita Vyana, Vyanavrita Prana and Shleshmavrita Vyana etc. Ayurveda believe that pathophysiology of other diseases routes through hypertension.     Role of Basti Karma towards the management of Madhumeha: an Ayurveda perspective

    Ayurveda the Indian medical system mentioned Madhumeha as imbalance of the Doshas; Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Madhumeha correlated with diabetes as per modern medical science characterized by hyperglycemia and disturbance of water and electrolyte homeostasis. In Ayurveda (Brihatrayi) it is considered as Ashta mahagada as difficult to cure. It is also relates with life-style related metabolic disorder since consumption of junk foods, day time sleep, lack of exercises and sedentary habits may precipitate symptoms of diabetes. Now a day’s Madhumeha has become very common pathological condition affecting more than 20% of world population. Madhumeha may be managed by good conduction of Ahara-Vihara, Yoga, Sodhana karma and use of various ayurveda formulations, however recently Panchakarma has gain great attention towards the management of Madhumeha since some specific modalities of Panchakarma effectively removes vitiated Doshas and Vasti Karma is one of them.     Clinical potency of Patra-Pottali Sweda

    Swedana Karma is one of the modality of ayurveda acts as Sthambhaghna (removal of stiffness), Gourvaghna (loss of heaviness of the body), Sheetaghana (loss of coldness in the body) and Swedkaraka (producing sweating in the body). Swedana is considered as Bahirparimarjana Chikitsa, one among the Shadupakarmas. It is employed to relieve symptoms like; Shula and Stambha associated with various diseases. Present article emphasized Patra Pottali Sweda (Ela Kizhi) which used to induce perspiration through heated pack of specific herbal leaves in the management of Upastambhita Vyadhi Avastha.
