Combination of Multiple Bipartite Ranking for Web Content Quality Evaluation

Web content quality estimation is crucial to various web content processing applications. Our previous work applied Bagging + C4.5 to achive the best results on the ECML/PKDD Discovery Challenge 2010, which is the comibination of many point-wise rankinig models. In this paper, we combine multiple pair-wise bipartite ranking learner to solve the multi-partite ranking problems for the web quality estimation. In encoding stage, we present the ternary encoding and the binary coding extending each rank value to L−1L - 1 (L is the number of the different ranking value). For the decoding, we discuss the combination of multiple ranking results from multiple bipartite ranking models with the predefined weighting and the adaptive weighting. The experiments on ECML/PKDD 2010 Discovery Challenge datasets show that \textit{binary coding} + \textit{predefined weighting} yields the highest performance in all four combinations and furthermore it is better than the best results reported in ECML/PKDD 2010 Discovery Challenge competition.Comment: 17 pages, 8 figures, 2 table

A novel high-Order functional based image registration model with inequality constraint

In this paper, a novel variational image registration model using a second-order functional as regularizer is presented. The main motivation for the new model stems from the LLT model (see Lysaker, 2003). In order to avoid mesh folding, inequality constraint on the determinant of the Jacobian matrix J of the transformation is also proposed. Furthermore, a fast solver is provided for numerical implementation of registration model with inequality constraints. Numerical experiments are illustrated to show the good performance of our new model according to the registration quality

An improved discontinuity-preserving image registration model and its fast algorithm

Recently, Chumchob–Chen(2010) proposed a discontinuity-preserving image registration model which was more flexible than those common techniques such as the diffusion and total variation based regularization techniques. However, each component of displacement field is regularized separately in this model and then the nonlinear diffusion processes resulting from the first variation of the discontinuity-preserving regularization do not enforce coupling between the primary components of the displacement field. Thus the discontinuity-preserving model may prevent to obtain a good registration in some situations, for example non-smooth registration problems with non-axis-aligned discontinuities. To utilize interdependence between the primary components of the deformation field for smooth and non-smooth registration problems, we propose an improved discontinuity-preserving image registration model in this paper, second we propose an idea of relaxed fixed point combining with Gauss–Newton scheme with Armijo's line search for solving the new model and further to combine with a multilevel method to achieve fast convergence. Numerical experiments not only confirm that our proposed method is efficient and stable, but also it can give more satisfying registration results according to image quality

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and change in serum levels of inflammatory factors in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) treated with glucosamine hydrochloride plus meloxicam. Methods: In total, 114 patients with KOA who received glucosamine hydrochloride plus meloxicam treatment were included in the study and equally distributed to a control group and a study group. The control group received glucosamine hydrochloride, and the study group received a similar treatment but, received in additional, meloxicam. Clinical efficacy, numerical rating scale (NRS) score, quality of life (QoL) score, index of severity for osteoarthritis (ISOA) score, and related inflammatory factors were assessed and compared. Results: The study group outperformed the control group in terms of clinical efficacy. Significantly lower NRS scores were obtained in the study group at T2, T3, and T4 than those of the control group (p < 0.001). Before treatment, the two groups presented similar ISOA score, QoL score, and interleukin (IL)- 6 and tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF-α) levels. After treatment, ISOA score, and IL-6 and TNF-α levels declined in all patients, with lower results obtained in the study group. All patients obtained significantly higher Qol score after treatment, with higher outcomes observed in the study group. Conclusion: The combination of glucosamine hydrochloride and meloxicam effectively improves the joint function of patients with KOA and relieves symptoms such as joint swelling and pain. Hus, t treatment strategy has great promise

An Efficient Numerical Method for Mean Curvature-Based Image Registration Model

Mean curvature-based image registration model firstly proposed by Chumchob-Chen-Brito (2011) offered a better regularizer technique for both smooth and nonsmooth deformation fields. However, it is extremely challenging to solve efficiently this model and the existing methods are slow or become efficient only with strong assumptions on the smoothing parameter β. In this paper, we take a different solution approach. Firstly, we discretize the joint energy functional, following an idea of relaxed fixed point is implemented and combine with Gauss-Newton scheme with Armijo's Linear Search for solving the discretized mean curvature model and further to combine with a multilevel method to achieve fast convergence. Numerical experiments not only confirm that our proposed method is efficient and stable, but also it can give more satisfying registration results according to image quality
