Optimizing air velocity for the underfloor forced ventilation to protect a refrigerated warehouse from frost heaving

    Get PDF
Forced or natural ventilation is the most common measure of frost heave protection for refrigerated warehouse floor. To optimize air velocity for the underfloor forced ventilation system of refrigerated warehouse, a steady state three-dimensional mathematical model of heat transfer is set up in this paper. The temperature fields of this system are simulated and calculated by CFD software PHOENICS under different air velocity, 1.5 m/s, 2.5 m/s or 3.5 m/s. The results show that the optimized air velocity is 1.5 m/s when the tube spacing is 1.5 m

Structural Insights of Non-canonical U*U Pair and Hoogsteen Interaction Probed with Se Atom

Unlike DNA, in addition to the 20 -OH group, uracil nucleobase and its modifications play essential roles in structure and function diversities of non- coding RNAs. Non-canonical U.U base pair is ubiquitous in non-coding RNAs, which are highly diversified. However, it is not completely clear how uracil plays the diversifing roles. To investigate and compare the uracil in U-A and U.U base pairs, we have decided to probe them with a selenium atom by synthesizing the novel 4-Se-uridine (SeU) phosphoramidite and Se-nucleobase-modified RNAs (SeU-RNAs), where the exo-4-oxygen of uracil is replaced by selenium. Our crystal structure studies of U-A and U.U pairs reveal that the native and Se-derivatized structures are virtually identical, and both U-A and U.U pairs can accommodate large Se atoms. Our thermostability and crystal structure studies indicate that the weakened H-bonding in U-A pair may be compensated by the base stacking, and that the stacking of the trans- Hoogsteen U.U pairs may stabilize RNA duplex and its junction. Our result confirms that the hydrogen bond (O4.. .H-C5) of the Hoogsteen pair is weak. Using the Se atom probe, our Se- functionalization studies reveal more insights into the U.U interaction and U-participation in structure and function diversification of nucleic acids

4mCPred-GSIMP: Predicting DNA N4-methylcytosine sites in the mouse genome with multi-Scale adaptive features extraction and fusion

The epigenetic modification of DNA N4-methylcytosine (4mC) is vital for controlling DNA replication and expression. It is crucial to pinpoint 4mC's location to comprehend its role in physiological and pathological processes. However, accurate 4mC detection is difficult to achieve due to technical constraints. In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based approach 4mCPred-GSIMP for predicting 4mC sites in the mouse genome. The approach encodes DNA sequences using four feature encoding methods and combines multi-scale convolution and improved selective kernel convolution to adaptively extract and fuse features from different scales, thereby improving feature representation and optimization effect. In addition, we also use convolutional residual connections, global response normalization and pointwise convolution techniques to optimize the model. On the independent test dataset, 4mCPred-GSIMP shows high sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, Matthews correlation coefficient and area under the curve, which are 0.7812, 0.9312, 0.8562, 0.7207 and 0.9233, respectively. Various experiments demonstrate that 4mCPred-GSIMP outperforms existing prediction tools
