Prior Knowledge-Based Event Network for Chinese Text

    Get PDF
Text representation is a basic issue of text information processing and event plays an important role in text understanding; both attract the attention of scholars. The event network conceals lexical relations in events, and its edges express logical relations between events in document. However, the events and relations are extracted from event-annotated text, which makes it hard for large-scale text automatic processing. In the paper, with expanded CEC (Chinese Event Corpus) as data source, prior knowledge of manifestation rules of event and relation as the guide, we propose an event extraction method based on knowledge-based rule of event manifestation, to achieve automatic building and improve text processing performance of event network

BackgroundKeloids are benign skin hyperplasias but have a tumor-like appearance. Clinical management of keloids remains challenging.AimsWe retrospectively evaluated the safety and efficacy of internal mammary artery perforator propeller flaps combined with timely radiotherapy in the treatment of large chest keloids.MethodsFrom June 2017 to May 2020, 25 patients with large chest keloids (average size 4.82 cm ± 2.53 cm × 9.04 cm ± 4.86 cm) who received both radiotherapy and internal mammary artery perforator flaps transplantation in our department were included. After surgical removal of the keloids, various propeller flaps based on the unilateral internal mammary artery were designed and applied to repair the defects. Timely and full-dose radiotherapy was performed for these patients after the operation.ResultsAfter keloid resection, the dimensions of the defect area were 3 cm–15 cm × 4 cm–25 cm, and the sizes of the flaps were 3 cm–16 cm × 4 cm–27 cm. For all 25 patients, the flaps survived, and the incisions healed in one stage. During the follow-up (median 18 months), no local recurrence was observed, and the itching and pain symptoms in the scar area were significantly relieved. Both physicians and patients were satisfied with the results.ConclusionsThe application of internal mammary artery perforator propeller flaps combined with radiotherapy in the treatment of chest keloids can effectively reduce the recurrence of keloids and relieve the related symptoms. It also has advantages including minimized donor site damage, short operation time and speedy postoperative recovery, suggesting its great clinical value

Importance It is uncertain whether intravenous methylprednisolone improves outcomes for patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large-vessel occlusion (LVO) undergoing endovascular thrombectomy. Objective To assess the efficacy and adverse events of adjunctive intravenous low-dose methylprednisolone to endovascular thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke secondary to LVO. Design, Setting, and Participants This investigator-initiated, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was implemented at 82 hospitals in China, enrolling 1680 patients with stroke and proximal intracranial LVO presenting within 24 hours of time last known to be well. Recruitment took place between February 9, 2022, and June 30, 2023, with a final follow-up on September 30, 2023.InterventionsEligible patients were randomly assigned to intravenous methylprednisolone (n = 839) at 2 mg/kg/d or placebo (n = 841) for 3 days adjunctive to endovascular thrombectomy. Main Outcomes and Measures The primary efficacy outcome was disability level at 90 days as measured by the overall distribution of the modified Rankin Scale scores (range, 0 [no symptoms] to 6 [death]). The primary safety outcomes included mortality at 90 days and the incidence of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage within 48 hours. Results Among 1680 patients randomized (median age, 69 years; 727 female [43.3%]), 1673 (99.6%) completed the trial. The median 90-day modified Rankin Scale score was 3 (IQR, 1-5) in the methylprednisolone group vs 3 (IQR, 1-6) in the placebo group (adjusted generalized odds ratio for a lower level of disability, 1.10 [95% CI, 0.96-1.25]; P = .17). In the methylprednisolone group, there was a lower mortality rate (23.2% vs 28.5%; adjusted risk ratio, 0.84 [95% CI, 0.71-0.98]; P = .03) and a lower rate of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (8.6% vs 11.7%; adjusted risk ratio, 0.74 [95% CI, 0.55-0.99]; P = .04) compared with placebo. Conclusions and Relevance Among patients with acute ischemic stroke due to LVO undergoing endovascular thrombectomy, adjunctive methylprednisolone added to endovascular thrombectomy did not significantly improve the degree of overall disability.Trial RegistrationChiCTR.org.cn Identifier: ChiCTR210005172

Analysis of Deformation Fixation of Thermally Compressed Scots Pine (<i>Pinus sylvestris</i> L.)

Heat treatment effectively inhibits the water absorption recovery of compressed wood. To elucidate this phenomenon, we prepared compressed pine and thermally compressed pine (heartwood and sapwood) using the hot pressing method at 160 °C, 180 °C, 200 °C, and 220 °C. The effects of chemical components, swelling stresses, and monosaccharides on modified wood recovery were investigated using regression analyses. Notably, the recovery of both compressed heartwood and sapwood during water absorption declined from 18.89% to 2.66% and from 58.40% to 1.60%, respectively, after heat treatment. Similarly, the swelling stresses of the compressed heartwood and sapwood at 220 °C, respectively, ranged from 0.693 MPa to 0.275 MPa and from 0.783 MPa to 0.330 MPa. These were close to the values of untreated heartwood (0.175 MPa) and sapwood (0.225 MPa). Regression functions indicated that the recovery of compressed wood is chemically dependent on hemicellulose and mechanically related to swelling stress. For monosaccharides, regression functions indicated that modified heartwood recovery primarily relied on mannose, whereas modified sapwood recovery was remarkably affected by mannose and xylose. This confirmed that the pyrolytic monosaccharides in hemicellulose promoted stress relaxation, which induced the deformation fixation of thermally compressed wood

Procyandin A2 (PCA2) is a polyphenolic compound which is isolated from grape seeds. It has been reported that PCA2 exhibits antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects, but its molecular mechanism is still poorly understood. This study tests the hypothesis that PCA2 suppresses lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation and oxidative stress through targeting the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), and NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathways in RAW264.7 cells. PCA2 (20, 40, 80 μM) exhibited no significant cytotoxicity in RAW264.7 cells and showed an inhibitory effect on an LPS-induced nitrite level. Pro-inflammatory cytokines like tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), nitric oxide (NO), and reactive oxygen species (ROS) were suppressed by PCA2 with a concentration range of 0-80 μM. The mRNA levels of TNF-α and IL-6 were inhibited by PCA2 (80 μM). The hallmark-protein expression of the NF-κB (p-IKKα/β, p-IκBα, and p-p65) and MAPK (p-p38, p-JNK, and p-ERK) pathways were decreased by PCA2 in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. In addition, immunofluorescence results indicated that PCA2 (80 μM) promoted the translocation of NF-κB/p65 from the cytoplasm into the nucleus. PCA2 upregulated the expressions of Nrf2 and HO-1 and downregulated the expression of Keap-1. Simultaneously, PCA2 (80 μM) reversed LPS-induced Nrf2 translocation from the nucleus into the cytoplasm. Collectively, PCA2 protect cells against the damage from inflammation and oxidative injury, which suggest a potential therapeutic strategy for inflammatory and oxidative stress through targeting NF-κB, MAPK, and Nrf2 pathways in RAW264.7 cells
