Design and Implementation of Analyzing Instrument for Broadband Powerline Communications

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the design and implementation of the analyzing instrument for the broadband powerline communication. This instrument has integrated functions for channel estimation, noise power spectrum measurement, and impedance measurement. It consists of a digital board with high speed DSP and FPGA chips, an analog board as a front-end adaptation to the powerline medium, and a Windows GUI application for presenting measurement results. This paper gives measurement algorithms used in this system and a description of the hardware and software prototype

Integration between WSNs and Internet based on Address Internetworking for Web Services

There has been an increasing interest in wireless sensor networks as a new technology to realize ubiquitous computing, and demands for internetworking technology between the wireless sensor networks and the Internet which is based on IP address. For this purpose, this paper proposes and implements the internetworking scheme which assigns IP addresses to the sensor nodes and internetworks based on the gateway-based integration for internetworking between the wireless sensor networks and the Internet. That is, the proposed scheme makes the access to the wireless sensor networks be serviced as like the Web service with internetworking Internet IP address and ZigBee address which is allocated to the sensor node in wireless sensor networks. For validating the proposed scheme, we made experiments using Berkeley TinyOS, Mica Motes, dual protocol stack based on ZigBee and IP, and showed the service result using browser (IE) and IPv6 address based on DNS

Schrodinger invariant solutions of M-theory with Enhanced Supersymmetry

We find the most general solution of 11-dimensional supergravity compatible with N=2 super-Schrodinger symmetry with six supercharges and SU(2) x SU(2) x U(1) x Z_2 global symmetry. It can be viewed as a one-parameter extension of a recently constructed solution by Ooguri and Park. Our original motivation was to find the gravity dual of the non-relativistic ABJM theory. But, our analysis shows that no such solution exists within the reach of our assumptions. We discuss possible reasons for the non-existence of the desired solution. We also uplift a super-Schrodinger solution in IIB supergravity of Donos and Gauntlett to 11-dimension and comment on its properties.1120sciescopu

Effects of education on low-phosphate diet and phosphate binder intake to control serum phosphate among maintenance hemodialysis patients: A randomized controlled trial.

Background:For phosphate control, patient education is essential due to the limited clearance of phosphate by dialysis. However, well-designed randomized controlled trials about dietary and phosphate binder education have been scarce. Methods:We enrolled maintenance hemodialysis patients and randomized them into an education group (n = 48) or a control group (n = 22). We assessed the patients' drug compliance and their knowledge about the phosphate binder using a questionnaire. Results:The primary goal was to increase the number of patients who reached a calcium-phosphorus product of lower than 55. In the education group, 36 (75.0%) patients achieved the primary goal, as compared with 16 (72.7%) in the control group (P = 0.430). The education increased the proportion of patients who properly took the phosphate binder (22.9% vs. 3.5%, P = 0.087), but not to statistical significance. Education did not affect the amount of dietary phosphate intake per body weight (education vs. control: -1.18 ± 3.54 vs. -0.88 ± 2.04 mg/kg, P = 0.851). However, the dietary phosphate-to-protein ratio tended to be lower in the education group (-0.64 ± 2.04 vs. 0.65 ± 3.55, P = 0.193). The education on phosphate restriction affected neither the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment score (0.17 ± 4.58 vs. -0.86 ± 3.86, P = 0.363) nor the level of dietary protein intake (-0.03 ± 0.33 vs. -0.09 ± 0.18, P = 0.569). Conclusion:Education did not affect the calcium-phosphate product. Education on the proper timing of phosphate binder intake and the dietary phosphate-to-protein ratio showed marginal efficacy

In Situ Formation of Ag Capping Layer for Preventing Oxidation in Copper Chemical Mechanical Polishing

An Ag capping layer as a metal barrier was proposed to hinder the oxide formation of Cu, which is exposed after chemical mechanical polishing CMP . To simplify the process step, the in situ formation of the Ag barrier during the Cu CMP process was investigated using a displacement reaction at either the second step of Cu CMP or the buffing step. The Ag capping layer effectively disturbed the contact between oxygen and Cu, which led to preventing Cu oxidation. Moreover, through the capping formation at the buffing step, the depth of dishing was diminished to about 20 nm regardless of the linewidth. This research was supported by the Nano R&D program through the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF) funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (2008-02857) and by the Fundamental R&D Program for Core Technology of Materials funded by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Republic of Korea
