    Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on the Life Expectancy, Resilience and Death Anxiety in Women with Cancer

    Introduction: An annual record of 90,000 new cases of cancer in Iran and a mortality rate of 55,000 affected cases is indicative of alarming outbreak of cancer in the country to the extent that an average of 100 people die each day due to this disease. The purpose of the present research is to evaluate the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on the life expectancy, resilience and death anxiety in women with cancer.Methods: The present research is a semi-experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. The research population consisted of all women with cancer who referred to the Cancer Institute of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Tehran in 2017. Thirty women who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control. Life expectancy, resilience and death anxiety scales were used and multivariate covariance analysis was applied for data analysis.Results: The results showed that life expectancy increased in the experimental group in compare with the control group (p<0.05) and the death anxiety of the experimental group decreased in compare to the control group (p<0.05) after acceptance and commitment training.Conclusion: Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective in increasing the life expectancy and resilience and also in decreasing death Anxiety in women patient with cancer. These findings can be used in designing of psychological treatment interventions in the field of cancer.Declaration of Interest: Non

    Comparison of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy andCompassion-Focused Therapy on Quality of Life and Health-Promoting Behaviors of Mothers with Gestational Diabetes

    Introduction:Gestational diabetes is the most common metabolic complication of pregnancy, affecting 10%-15% of all pregnancies, depending on diagnostic criteria. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of acceptance and commitmenttherapy and compassion-focused therapy on the quality of life and health-promoting behaviors of mothers with gestational diabetes.Method:The research method was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. The statistical population of this study was all pregnant women referred to Milad Hospital in Tehran in 2019.45participantswere randomly selected and placed in three groups of acceptance and commitment therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and control group.The follow-up phase was performed on all three groups three months after the post-test. The research tools included the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale and the Walker Health-Promoting Lifestyle Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate covariance analysis by spss.22. Result:The results showed that acceptance and commitment therapy and compassion-focused therapy had a significant effect on improving the quality of life and health-promoting behaviors in women with gestational diabetes (P<0.001).Conclusion:It can be concluded that acceptance and commitment therapy has a greater impact on the quality of life and health-promoting behaviors of women with gestational diabetes than compassion-focused therapy.     Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the most important cause of mortality in the world. Inaddition to physical problems, they are also influenced by psychological factors and psychologicaltherapies along with biological therapy can help to improve these patients. The purpose of this studywas to compare the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and emotionfocused therapy (EFT) on Health locus of control of coronary heart patients.Method: This was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control group. Thestatistical population of the study included patients with coronary heart disease in the city of Karaj.Patients were 30 to 60 years old who referred to Shahid Rajaee Hospital in Karaj. Samples wereselected using convenient sampling method and were assigned randomly into two experimental andone control group. Data were collected using health locus of control questionnaire. Data wereanalyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance.Results: outcomes showed that ACT and EFT are effective on adjusting the Health locus of controlin patients with coronary heart disease, and there was a significant difference between theexperimental and control group (F = 7.25, p <0.05).But there was no difference between theefficacy of the two treatments.Conclusion: Psychological therapies such as ACT and EFT increase self-care in cardiac patients byincreasing control and increasing sense of responsibility

Samples were selected using available sampling method and then the samples were randomly divided into two experimental and one control group. Data were collected using D-type personality scale and Buss and Perry hostility scale.Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance using SPSS-25 software.Results: The results of this study showed that patients' negative emotion scale scores decreased, indicating the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy and emotion-focused therapy compared to the control group. Conclusion: Considering that one of the most important psychological factors related to heart disease are negative emotions and these emotions can have an accelerating role in the development and progression of heart disease and Due to the effectiveness of the above treatments, their education can be helpful in addition to medical treatment

Conducting the questionnairs showed that 55 out of them have the highest amount of Anxiety and lowest amount of Quality of life, 30 of them were selected randomly who were divided to test group and control group. The test group received training. And then a post-test was taken on both groups and the results indicators that hardiness training had been effective on Anxiety and Quality of life at level of P<0/01

    The relationship between hardiness and exam anxiety in students

    Abstract: The main objective of the present paper is to examine the relationship between hardiness and exam anxiety in high school students. The population consisted of 100 male students of Sadra private high school of Sar-ePol-e-Zahab city who were selected by random sampling and filled religious orientation questionnaire of Alport and Ross (1962), questionnaire of demographics, hardiness questionnaire of Polty, Bartenon, Robert, Youground, Kathleen, Gary and Ingram (1989), and Spilberger&apos;s questionnaire of exam anxiety (1980). Results of correlation test showed that there is a negative and significant relationship between hardiness components (commitment, control, challenge and the overall hardiness) and exam anxiety. This means that an increase in students&apos; hardiness decreases their exam anxiety. Correlation analysis results also indicated a positive and significant relationship between hardiness components and educational performance.     A Randomized Clinical Trial in Comparing the Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Metacognitive Therapy on Mind-Wandering Index in Adolescents

    Introduction: Acceptance and commitment and metacognitive therapies are considered as third wave therapies. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and Metacognitive therapy (MCT) on the mind-wandering index in adolescents.Methods: In a randomized clinical trial, 45 female adolescents in Karaj were estimated using a Cloninger sample volume estimation method and were selected through purposive screening sampling. They were randomly assigned into three groups. Two ACT and MCT were presented to the experimental groups in the form of ten sessions of 1 hour. The data were collected at three time intervals through a demographic checklist, a structured clinical interview and a mind-wandering questionnaire. Analysis of covariance and Bonferroni analysis tests were used.Results: The primary outcomes showed that both ACT and MCT had a significant effect on the mind-wandering index (p&lt;0.01), although this effectiveness was more favorable in the MCT group (P&lt;0.05). The secondary outcomes also showed the stability of the results in the follow-up stage (p&lt;0.05).Conclusion: The results of this study suggest the effectiveness of third wave therapies on psychological indices. These findings can be combined with clinical applications in planning new therapeutic and educational perspectives.Declaration of Interest: Non

    Relationship Between Managers&apos; Personality Characteristics And Job Satisfaction In Martyr Foundation Of Mazandaran Province

    Abstract: The purpose of this study was investigating the relationship between managers&apos; personality characteristics and job satisfaction in Martyr foundation of Mazandaran Province. The study was done in descriptive (correlation) method and 49 people were selected as the samples of the research. The applied tools in his study include tow scales: A) personality characteristics questionnaire: which measure five characteristics (Neurosis, Externalism, Flexibility, Being Scrumptious and Responsibility). B) Job satisfaction questionnaire: with 20 five-option questions through Likert Scale. The gathered data were analyzed by using multiple variable regression analysis and Pierson correlation coefficient. The obtained findings through the research showed that there is a meaningful relationship between managers&apos; job satisfaction and personality characteristics and among the personality characteristics, responsibility and externalism are the major parts in predicating managers&apos; job satisfaction. -there is not a relationship between neurosis and managers&apos; job satisfaction -there is a positive and meaningful relationship between responsibility and managers&apos; job satisfaction. -there is a positive and meaningful relationship between flexibility and managers&apos; job satisfaction. -there is a positive and meaningful relationship between externalism and managers&apos; job satisfaction. -there is a positive and meaningful relationship between being scrumptious and managers&apos; job satisfaction

    Comparison of the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy and emotion-focused therapy on anxiety sensitivity in cardiac patients

    Introduction: The role of anxiety sensitivity in the clinical course of many chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, has been confirmed, which can cause and develop a variety of cardiovascular diseases. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy on Anxiety Sensitivity in cardiac patients &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;. Method: This was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population was all patients referred to Dr. Heshmat Rasht hospital during February to March 2019. Sampling method was used to select the samples and then the samples were randomly divided into two experimental and one control group. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance by SPSS software, version 25.Results: outcomes showed that acceptance and commitment therapy and emotion focused therapy were effective on Anxiety sensitivity(P = 0.000). also the results of the covariance showed that, there was a significant difference between the groups' adjusted averages for Anxiety sensitivity (ETA=0.910, P = 0.000, F(2,41)= 208.387). In other words, there is a significant difference between the two experimental methods on Anxiety sensitivity in cardiac patients (acceptance and commitment therapy and emotion-focused therapy) with the control group.     Introduction:The role of adherence to treatment in many chronic diseases, including heart disease, has been confirmed. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy on adherence to treatment in Cardiac Patients.Method: This is a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population of all patients referring to Dr. HeshmatRasht Hospital during February to March 2019 were available by purposeful sampling methodand then the samples were randomly divided into two experimental and one control groups. Data collection tools were demographic questionnaire and standardized adherence to treatment questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance by SPSS software, version 25.Results: outcomes showed that acceptance and commitment therapy and emotion focused therapy were effective on Adherence to treatment (P&lt;0.001). Also, the results of the covariance showed that, there was a significant difference between the groups' adjusted averages for adherence (ETA= 0.804, P= 0.001, F (2,41)=83.904). In other words, there is a significant difference between the two experimental methods onAdherence to treatment in cardiac patients (acceptance and commitment therapy and emotion-focused therapy) with the control group.Conclusion:According to the results of this study, training of above mentioned therapies can play an important role as adjunctive and rehabilitation therapy along with medical treatments by increasing adherence to treatment
