    Skład ciała osób w różnym wieku z uwzględnieniem 60+ rekreacyjnie uprawiających pływanie

    Wstęp: Artykuł prezentuje wyniki analiz dotyczących składu masy ciała ludzi w różnym wieku z uwzględnieniem osób 60+ uprawiających regularny trening pływacki. Cel: Celem pracy była analiza porównawcza składu ciała pomiędzy badanymi podzielonymi na grupy w różnym wieku. W związku z tak określonym celem sformułowano następującą hipotezę badawczą: osoby uprawiające pływanie w grupie Masters różnią się pod względem komponentów składu ciała w zależności od grupy wiekowej. Materiał: Badaniami objęto n=86 osób dorosłych, w tym 32 kobiet i 54 mężczyzn. Badania zostały przeprowadzone z zastosowaniem metody impedancji w oparciu o narzędzie jakim jest analizator składu ciała InBody 270. Dokonano analizy ośmiu wskaźników dotyczących komponentów ciała osób uprawiających pływanie w grupie Masters. Wyniki: Uzyskane wyniki wykazały, iż u kobiet parametry składu ciała wraz z wiekiem nieznacznie się zmieniają. W porównywanych grupach prezentują się na zbliżonym poziomie. Odmiennie jest w grupie badanych mężczyzn, w której, wskaźniki PBF (Procent tkanki tłuszczowej), FFM (Masa beztłuszczowa) prawego ramienia FFM (Masa beztłuszczowa) lewego ramienia, BFM (Masa tkanki tłuszczowej) lewego ramienia, BFM% (Masa tkanki tłuszczowej) lewego ramienia, poziom tłuszczu wisceralnego, jak również wynik InBody wykazały różnice istotne statystycznie. Wnioski: Wśród osobników płci męskiej, wraz z wiekiem, narasta zróżnicowanie pod względem ogólnej zawartości tkanki tłuszczowej, jak również pogłębiają się różnice w jej anatomicznym rozmieszczeniu mierzone za pomocą wskaźników dystrybucji. U badanych mężczyzn, dysproporcja wartości analizowanych parametrów była znaczna i określała zawartość tkanki nieaktywnej, stawiając grupę mężczyzn po sześćdziesiątym roku życia jako tę o zwiększonej zawartości tkanki tłuszczowej.Introduction: The article presents the results of a study analyzing body composition in different age groups, including 60+ seniors who regularly participate in swimming training. Study aim: The aim of this study was to compare the body composition of adults divided into different age groups. The research hypothesis postulating that Masters swimmers are characterized by age-dependent differences in body composition was tested. Materials and Methods: A total of 86 adults, including 32 women and 54 men, participated in the study. Body composition was determined by bioelectrical impedance with the InBody 270 analyzer. Eight body composition parameters were evaluated in Masters swimmers. Results: The results revealed minor age-related changes in the body composition of female participants. The analyzed parameters were similar in the compared groups of females. In contrast, significant differences in percent body fat (PBF) values, right-arm fat free mass% (FFM%) values, left-arm FFM% values, left-arm body fat mass% (BFM%) values, left-arm BFM values and visceral fat level were observed among the surveyed males. Conclusions: In men, the differences in Percent Body Fat and the anatomic distribution of adipose tissue measured with the relevant indicators increased with age. In male participants, considerable disproportions were observed in the content of inactive adipose tissue, and the accumulation of adipose tissue was higher in men older than 60

    Effects of exercise of different intensity on gut peptides, energy intake and appetite in young males

    Introduction and research aims: The aim of the work was an evaluation of the impact of physical exertion on the regulating of food intake and digestive system hormone release as well as the partly connected phenomenon of evaluating the subjective sensation of hunger and the amount of food consumed at various time following physical exercise. Materials and methods: The tests covered 12 young, healthy men, for whom the effects of physical exertion of a moderate and high intensity on the subjective sensation of hunger/satiety, evaluated by means of visual analogue scales, on food intake as well as on the metabolic and hormonal parameters were tested. Results: Physical exertion resulted in a fall in the subjective sensation of hunger, but only following intensive exertion was this statistically significant. The intake of food was greater after exertion when compared to the control group. Moderate exertion resulted in a statistically significant but short-lived increase in the ghrelin level. This effect was not observed after intensive exertion, while in those tests during the post-meal period there occurred a fall in the concentration of ghrelin in the plasma. After exertion a physical fall was observed in the concentration of insulin in the plasma, for the intake of food resulted in a notable increase in its level. Conclusions: Physical highly intensive exertion, results in a temporary reduction in the subjective sensation of hunger but leads to an increased food intake. The current research suggests that moderate but not intensive physical exertion stimulates the secretion of ghrelin

    Effect of Coronavirus 19 on Maintaining Balance in Skilled Athletes

    Preliminary studies have reported that motor control is negatively impacted following an infection of COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of COVID-19 on maintaining balance in highly skilled athletes. As part of a larger investigation that was initiated in 2019, twelve professional handball players were recruited to participate in a study that was designed to measure static balance performance. Following the initial pre-test, six participants (body height 184.8 ± 4.7 cm; body weight 85.5 ± 3.3 kg; age 21.3 ± 1.2 years) were infected with COVID-19. The remaining six participants (body height 188.7 ± 2.6 cm; body weight 92.3 ± 3.7 kg; age 26.3 ± 3.3 years) never tested positive for COVID-19 and were presumably not infected with the virus. The experimental design required all the participants to complete an initial balance assessment (pre-test) and a later balance assessment (post-test). To fully analyze our data, we conducted a 2 (condition: COVID, no-COVID) X 2 (test: pre-test, post-test) ANOVA with repeated measures on the second factor. Our analysis revealed that the skilled athletes who contracted COVID-19 had a significant decrease in balance performance from the pre-test that occurred prior to being infected with COVID-19 relative to the post-test that occurred following the COVID-19 infection. Additionally, the skilled athletes who were not infected with COVID-19 did not demonstrate the same deterioration in balance performance in the same period. This study highlights the impact COVID-19 has on static balance performance in a group of highly skilled handball players. Longitudinal studies are needed to fully understand the lasting impacts COVID-19 has on motor behavior.Partial funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málag

    Motor Learning of Complex Tasks with Augmented Feedback: Modality-Dependent Effectiveness

    Background: This paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of feedback modalities in the motor learning of complex tasks. Methods: This study examined sixty-one male university students randomised to three groups: group Verbal (VER) = 20 (body height 178.6 ± 4.3 cm, body mass 81.3 ± 3.7 kg, age 20.3 ± 1.2 years), group Visual (VIS) = 21 (body height 179 ± 4.6 cm, body mass 82 ± 3.4 kg, age 20.3 ± 1.2 years), and group Verbal–Visual (VER&VIS) = 20 (body height 178.6 ± 4.3 cm, body mass 81.3 ± 3.7 kg, age 20.3 ± 1.2 years). The duration of the experiment was 6 months. Training sessions were performed three times per week (on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays). The participants were instructed to perform a vertical jump with an arm swing (with forward and upward motion). During the jump, the participants pulled their knees up to their chests and grabbed their lower legs. The jump was completed with a half-squat landing, with arms positioned sideward. The jumping performance was rated by three gymnastic judges on a scale from 1 to 10. Results: A Tukey post hoc test revealed that in the post-test, a significant difference in the quality of performance was found between the Verbal group concerning errors combined with visual feedback on how to correct them (VER&VIS), the Verbal group concerning errors (VER), and the Visual group with visual feedback on the correctness of task performance (VIS). The ratings observed in the post-test were significantly higher in group VER&VIS than in groups VER and VIS (9%; p < 0.01 and 15%; p < 0.001, respectively). All judges’ ratings observed in group VER&VIS and VIS decreased insignificantly, but in group VER the ratings improved insignificantly. Conclusion: Providing verbal feedback combined with visual feedback on how to correct errors made in performing vertical jumps proved more effective than the provision of verbal feedback only or visual feedback only

    The state stud farm Liski and its contribution to the development of recreation and equestrian sports in Warmia and Mazury

    A year after the establishment of the Olsztyn voivodeship (1946), there were created on its territory the first state horse pedigree breeding centres. Thus, there was launched the process of breeding, which in its initial stage had no specific direction. Only when the State Department of Horse Breeding took a decision to rebuild the East Prussian breed and were further actions ordered. Since 1948, having survived the turmoil of war, Trakehner horses with documented pedigrees were located at the State Stud at Liski. Its further dynamic development was initiated. For many years, it was continued byJacekPacyński, considered to be an expert on horses and a keen supporter of equestrian sport. He, as one of the pioneers, co-organized first, unofficial, intercollegiate equestrian competitions in the region. Over the years, they were transformed into professional competition. Good sports results promoted native breeding and facilitated the sale of horses. J. Pacyński, as the head of the leading Polish stud, also paid much attention to the improvement of social conditions of the team. Thanks to his efforts, in the small village of Liski, there functioned a factory day room with up-to-date press and radio, and in later years also television. It was not only the sportsmen themselves who took advantage of the mounts and the charms of the breeding centre, but also recreational riding enthusiasts

    Ocena poziomu samopoczucia osób uprawiających sport

    Wstęp: Istnieje coraz więcej dowodów na to, że ćwiczenia fizyczne mogą w pozytywny sposób wpłynąć na stan psychiczny i samopoczucie ludzi. Wiele wyników badań wskazuje na to, że aktywność fizyczna jest pomocna w przypadku leczenia depresji czy niepokoju. Pozwala to stwierdzić, że sport w dużym stopniu wpływa nie tylko na aspekt fizyczny człowieka ale również na jego psychikę. Siedzący tryb życia, presja czasu oraz stres towarzyszący ludziom w coraz młodszym wieku przyczynia się do wzrostu występowania wielu chorób cywilizacyjnych ale także problemów ze zdrowiem psychicznym. Badanie miało na celu sprawdzenie, czy osoby uprawiające sport będą cechowały się lepszym samopoczuciem od osób nietrenujących. Analizie poddano także czas trwania treningu, jego częstotliwość oraz czas, od kiedy dana osoba rozpoczęła uprawianie sportu. Metody: Wywiad ogólny został przeprowadzony z 80 studentami (40 osób uprawiających sport i 40 nietrenujących) następnie zostali oni poproszeni o wypełnienie kwestionariusza Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale. Wyniki: Osoby uprawiające sport cechują się lepszym samopoczuciem niż osoby z grupy kontrolnej. Wykazano także, że mężczyźni w grupie badanej charakteryzują się lepszym samopoczuciem niż kobiety z tej samej grupy. Wyniki te są istotne statystycznie. Nie stwierdzono natomiast, aby dłuższy czas pojedynczego treningu, jego częstotliwość oraz czas rozpoczęcia uprawiania sportu miał wpływ na samopoczucie. Wnioski: Analiza zebranego materiału pozwoliła na stwierdzenie, że uprawianie sportu wpływa pozytywnie na samopoczucie. Ogólny czas trwania treningu nie wykazał związku z samopoczuciem, jednak należy podkreślić, że najkrótszy przedział czasowy treningu wynosi 1 rok. Aktywność fizyczna powinna być promowana od najmłodszych lat, aby w przyszłości zniwelować ryzyko wystąpienia wielu chorób, w tym związanych ze zdrowiem psychicznym.Background and aim: There is an increasing body of evidence that physical exercise may have a positive effect on people’s mental condition and well-being. Numerous study results indicate that physical activity helps in the treatment of depression and anxiety. This allows for a conclusion that sport – to a great extent – influences not only people’s physical aspects, but also their psyche. Sedentary lifestyle, time pressure and stress that accompanies people at an increasingly younger age contribute both to higher incidence of numerous civilisation diseases and to problems with mental health. The purpose of the study was to verify whether individuals practicing sports manifest better well-being than non-training individuals. Methods: A general interview was conducted with 80 students (40 individuals practicing sports and 40 individuals not practicing sports at all), whereupon they were requested to complete the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale questionnaire. Results: The individuals practicing sport exhibit greater well-being than the subjects from the control group. It was also demonstrated that the males in the study group exhibit greater wellbeing than the females from the same group However, no findings were made that longer duration of a single training session, its frequency or the time when a given person started practicing sport had any influence on his/her well-being. Conclusions: Practicing sports has a positive influence on people’s well-being. Physical activity should be promoted from as early an age as possible to minimise the risk of numerous diseases in the future, including those affecting mental health

    Biomechanical aspects of the foot arch, body balance and body weight composition of boys training football

    Background: The aim of the study is to assess the body balance and podological parameters and body composition of young footballers in the context of the control of football training. Methods: The study examined the distribution of the pressure of the part of the foot on the ground, the arch of the foot, and the analysis of the body composition of the boys. The pressure center for both feet and the whole body was also examined. The study involved 90 youth footballers from Olsztyn and Barczewo in three age groups: 8–10 years, 11–13 years old, and 14–16 years. The study used the Inbody 270 body composition analyzer and the EPSR1, a mat that measures the pressure distribution of the feet on the ground. Results: The results showed statistically significant differences in almost every case for each area of the foot between the groups of the examined boys. The most significant differences were observed for the metatarsal area and the left heel. In the case of stabilization of the whole body, statistically significant differences were noted between all study groups. In the case of the body composition parameters, in the examined boys, a coherent direction of changes was noticed for most of them. The relationships and correlations between the examined parameters were also investigated. The significance level in the study was set at p < 0.05. Conclusions: Under the training rigor, a statistically significant increase in stability was observed with age. The total length of the longitudinal arch of both feet of the examined boys showed a tendency to flatten in direct proportion to the age of the examined boys. Mean values of the body composition parameters reflect changes with the ontogenetic development, basic somatic parameters (body height and weight) and training experience, and thus with the intensity and volume of training. This indicates a correct training process that does not interfere with the proper development of the body in terms of tissue and biochemical composition
