    UHF Syledis for Coastal Survey Positioning

    UHF positioning systems are intermediate between groundwave HF radio aids, such as Argo and Hi-Fix, and line-of-sight systems, such as Mini-Ranger III and Trisponder. The Canadian Hydrographic Service conducted tests along the coast of Nova Scotia in 1982/83 which showed that UHF propagation velocity is unaffected by the terrain that the signal passes over, that UHF Syledis is effective to about 100 km over water and low-lying land, and that low pressure weather systems reduce Syledis performance. This paper will describe test procedures and results, and the subsequent CHS experience with Syledis in the first year of operational use in 1983

    Cytokine-Induced Signaling Networks Prioritize Dynamic Range over Signal Strength

    SummarySignaling networks respond to diverse stimuli, but how the state of the signaling network is relayed to downstream cellular responses is unclear. We modeled how incremental activation of signaling molecules is transmitted to control apoptosis as a function of signal strength and dynamic range. A linear relationship between signal input and response output, with the dynamic range of signaling molecules uniformly distributed across activation states, most accurately predicted cellular responses. When nonlinearized signals with compressed dynamic range relay network activation to apoptosis, we observe catastrophic, stimulus-specific prediction failures. We develop a general computational technique, “model-breakpoint analysis,” to analyze the mechanism of these failures, identifying new time- and stimulus-specific roles for Akt, ERK, and MK2 kinase activity in apoptosis, which were experimentally verified. Dynamic range is rarely measured in signal-transduction studies, but our experiments using model-breakpoint analysis suggest it may be a greater determinant of cell fate than measured signal strength

Data yang digunakan adalah data kepustakaan, dengan penelitian menggunakan Data Sekunder, dan disajikan dengan pembahasan bersifat Deskriptif Analitif Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa peraturan yang bersifat privat yang ditinjau dari hukum perusahaan diperkuat dengan Fatwa Mahkamah Agung Republik Indonesia terbit pada Agustus 2006 Tentang Keuangan Negara Pada Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN), memiliki perbedaan penafsiran dan pengaturan dengan peraturan yang bersifat publik, tentang kedudukan kekayaan Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) terhadap keuangan negara, hal ini juga berpengaruh terhadap pertanggungjawaban direksi Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) atas ancaman sanksi Tindak Pidana Korupsi. Untuk itu, pemerintah harus segera melakukan arnandemen I supervisi terhadap peraturan - peraturan yang tidak sinkron tersebut, agar didapatkan kepastian hukum, khususnya untuk Penegakan Hukum Tindak Pidana Korupsi

    Adjusting ROC curve for Covariates with AROC R package

    The ability of a medical test to differentiate between diseased and non-diseased states is of vital importance and must be screened by statistical analysis for reliability and improvement. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve remains a popular method of marker analysis, disease screening and diagnosis. Covariates in this field related to the subject’s characteristics are incorporated in the analysis to avoid bias. The covariate adjusted ROC (AROC) curve was proposed as a method of incorporation. The AROC R-package was recently released and brings various methods of estimation based on multiple authors work. The aim of this study was to explore the AROC package functionality and usability using real data noting its possible limitations. The main methods of the package were capable of incorporating different and multiple variables, both categorical and continuous, in the AROC curve estimation. When tested for the same data, AROC curves are generated with no statistical differences, regardless of method. The package offers a variety of methods to estimate the AROC curve complemented with predictive checks and pooled ROC estimation. The package offers a way to conduct a more thorough ROC and AROC analysis, making it available for any R user.This work has been supported by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia within the R&D Units Project Scope: UIDB/00319/202
