Fluctuation Bounds For Interface Free Energies in Spin Glasses

We consider the free energy difference restricted to a finite volume for certain pairs of incongruent thermodynamic states (if they exist) in the Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glass at nonzero temperature. We prove that the variance of this quantity with respect to the couplings grows proportionally to the volume in any dimension greater than or equal to two. As an illustration of potential applications, we use this result to restrict the possible structure of Gibbs states in two dimensions.Comment: 19 pages, 0 figure

Influence of the Loading and Strain Rates on the Strength Properties and Formability of Higher-Strength Sheet

    Get PDF
The paper analyses the influence of the loading rate in the interval from 1 to 1000 mm/min, which corresponds to the tensile machine working range, on the strength properties and the formability characteristics obtained on standard and notched test bars made of H340 LAD steel strips. The combination of the loading rate and the test bar type made it possible to obtain the relationships of monitored variables in the strain rate interval from 10–4 to 10 s–1. In this interval, the strength properties of the tested strips thick 1, 1,5 and 1,8 mm exponentially increase, but formability does not change up to the strain rate of 1 s–1

Occurrence of Idiosepius (Mollusca: Cephalopoda) in Indonesian Waters

Dalam tulisan ini diuraikan karakter morfologi, habitat dandistribusi empat jenis sotong mini jenis I. picteti, I. pygmaeus, I. biserialis dan I. pygmaeusherbereri.

Cleavable Biotin Probes for Labeling of Biomolecules via Azide−Alkyne Cycloaddition

    Get PDF
The azide−alkyne cycloaddition provides a powerful tool for bio-orthogonal labeling of proteins, nucleic acids, glycans, and lipids. In some labeling experiments, e.g., in proteomic studies involving affinity purification and mass spectrometry, it is convenient to use cleavable probes that allow release of labeled biomolecules under mild conditions. Five cleavable biotin probes are described for use in labeling of proteins and other biomolecules via azide−alkyne cycloaddition. Subsequent to conjugation with metabolically labeled protein, these probes are subject to cleavage with either 50 mM Na_2S_2O_4, 2% HOCH_2CH_2SH, 10% HCO_2H, 95% CF_3CO_2H, or irradiation at 365 nm. Most strikingly, a probe constructed around a dialkoxydiphenylsilane (DADPS) linker was found to be cleaved efficiently when treated with 10% HCO_2H for 0.5 h. A model green fluorescent protein was used to demonstrate that the DADPS probe undergoes highly selective conjugation and leaves a small (143 Da) mass tag on the labeled protein after cleavage. These features make the DADPS probe especially attractive for use in biomolecular labeling and proteomic studies

Measurement of the deuteron beam polarization at internal target at Nuclotron for DSS experiment

    Get PDF
The current deuteron beam polarimetry at Nuclotron is provided by the Internal Target polarimeter based on the use of the asymmetry in dp- elastic scattering at large angles in the cms at 270 MeV. The upgraded deuteron beam polarimeter has been used obtain the vector and tensor polarization during 2016/2017 runs for the DSS experimental program. The polarimeter has been used also for tuning of the polarized ion source parameters for 6 different spin mode

Elucidating Gas Evolution of Prussian White Cathodes for Sodium‐ion Battery Application: The Effect of Electrolyte and Moisture

    Get PDF
As global energy storage demand increases, sodium-ion batteries are often considered as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries. Hexacyanoferrate cathodes, commonly referred to as Prussian blue analogues (PBAs), are of particular interest due their low-cost synthesis and promising electrochemical response. However, because they consist of ~50 wt% cyanide anions, a possible release of highly toxic cyanide gases poses a significant safety risk. Previously, we observed the evolution of (CN)2 during cycling via differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS), but were unable to determine a root cause or mechanism. In this work, we present a systematical investigation of the gas evolution of Prussian white (PW) with different water content via DEMS. While H2 is the main gas detected, especially in hydrated PW and during overcharge (4.6 V vs. Na+/Na), the evolution of CO2 and (CN)2 depends on the electrolyte conductive salt. The use of oxidative NaClO4 instead of NaPF6 is the leading cause for the formation of (CN)2. Mass spectrometric evidence of trace amounts of HCN is also found, but to a much lower extent than (CN)2, which is the dominant safety risk when using NaClO4-containing electrolyte, which despite being a good model salt, is not a viable option for commercial applications

Preparation and magnetoresistance of Ag 2+x Se thin films deposited via Pulsed Laser Deposition

The preparation of Ag 2+x Se thin films with thicknesses between 4 nm and 3000 nm by pulsed laser deposition on single crystalline NaCl and MgO substrates is reported. The films are perfectly dense and show a good lateral uniformity with a small number of defects. The microstructure of the films corresponds to a nanoparquet, being composed of two different phases of silver selenide. One phase is identified as the Naumannite low temperature phase of silver selenide, the structure of the other phase has not been reported in detail before and probably represents a metastable phase. Silver-rich films contain silver precipitates with typical sizes on the nanoscale. Their presence and their size appears to be responsible for the large and linear magnetoresistance effect of silver-rich silver selenide
