Development and Initial Psychometric Evaluation of the Post-Acute Acuity Rating for Children

The Post-Acute Acuity Rating for Children (PAARC) is the first known acuity rating intended to reflect medical severity based on age, reason for admission, diagnoses, dependence in activities of daily living, and technology reliance for children admitted to post-acute care rehabilitation hospitals. Content validity was tested using an expert panel scoring the Content Validity Index (CVI). Concurrent validity was examined using clinician's opinion of acuity at admission, the Complexity Index, and All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Group (APR-DRG) codes. Predictive validity was examined with acute care readmission within 30 days. Interrater reliability was assessed using admission histories from closed cases. Content validity was established and concurrent validity was moderate to high with clinician opinion (rho = .76, < .001), the Complexity Index (rho = .76, < .001), and APR-DRGs (rho = .349, = .001). Predictive validity was moderate (rho = .504, = .005) and returns to acute care within 30 days. Interrater reliability was excellent (ICC = 0.97; 95% CI = 0.92-0.90, < .001). Experts agreed that the PAARC's content is relevant, simple, and representative of the population. The PAARC measured well against indicators of medical complexity for pediatric outpatient care and medical record coding and was reliable between raters. This work supports proceeding with additional development and validity testing of the PAARC

O Projecto NetInfância e a construção de conhecimento profissional numa licenciatura em Educação de Infância

Numa altura de alteração na formação inicial de educadores de infância que, de novo, realça a relação com a investigação e a produção de conhecimento profissional específico, apresenta-se uma análise de estudos desenvolvidos no âmbito de uma licenciatura que focaram a utilização das tecnologias de informação e comunicação (tic) na educação pré-escolar. A análise orientou-se por preocupações relativas à produção de conhecimento por professores e à necessidade de estudos que apoiem a decisão sobre a utilização das tic na educação pré-escolar. Foram apreciadas as instâncias conceptual, substantiva e metodológica dos estudos, em detrimento de uma revisão de resultados. Destacam-se características de investigação realizada por práticos e de conhecimento pedagógico de conteúdo concretizados por alguns desses estudos, bem como as combinatórias metodológicas e os procedimentos de acesso ao campo bem sucedidos. A criação de espaços de produção de investigação nos novos mestrados pode beneficiar da análise destes processos nessas dimensões

Biodiversity and distribution of lethaeine seed bugs (Heteroptera, rhyparochromidae, lethaeini) from Argentina

Background: The tribe Lethaeini has received little attention in Argentina. In 2014, Dellapé recorded 9 genera and 15 species from this country. Results: A comprehensive study of the Lethaeini (Heteroptera, Rhyparochromidae) from Argentina is presented. Herein three new species of Cryphula Stål, one new species of Cistalia Stål, and the male of Cryphula australis Berg are described. The genus Petissius Distant and the species Cistalia binotata Slater & Baranowski, Cistalia neotropicalis Slater & Baranowski, and Petissius spinipes Stål are reported for the first time from Argentina; also, the known distribution is extended for many of the previously recorded species. A generic key, keys to species, and distributional maps to the Argentinean species are also given. Dorsal habitus photographs of all species and the male and female genitalia of the new species are provided to facilitate identification. Conclusions: The Lethaeini fauna from Argentina is increased to 10 genera and 22 species. The distribution of the tribe in the country is mainly Neotropical into the Chacoan Subregion, with most of the species distributed in the Chacoan and Pampean provinces (Chacoan Domain) and Parana Forest Province (Parana Domain). Only Rhaptus quadricollis appears to be an Andean element, with most of the known records in the South American Transition Zone (Monte Province).Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse
