After the pandemic hit in 2020, the aerospace and defense industry was specifically impacted very harshly. Rolls-Royce was one of the main companies that had to go through major structural and logistical changes to cope with the changing economy. As one of the leaders of the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry, the main problem that Rolls-Royce was facing was the drastic reduction in demand for civil and commercial aircraft, which was one of Rolls-Royce’s core businesses. This led to supply chain problems, reduced profits, and eventually heavy losses. The effects of these problems caused great distress in the company. My specific role was twofold: to analyze their financial statements for the present and to provide risk management strategies for the future. For the former, I offer solutions on how they can minimize their losses and maximize their profits. Most of my research on this part was conducted by studying how companies performed under great financial distress in the past during black swan events, such as the housing crisis of 2008, the Great Recession, the dot-com bubble, and so forth. For the latter risk management objective, I created a personalized risk matrix for Rolls-Royce by identifying and ranking all their current and potential risks. Then I prioritized the risks that required more attention based on both qualitative and quantitative analyses of cost and performance impacts, and presented recommended solutions for these risks. Overall, I address six main issues and risks that Rolls-Royce should focus on and provide solutions to mitigate them

Log Kya Kahenge: Psychological well-being and perceived stigma in the South Asian American Community

    Get PDF
Current research has independently studied depression, stigma, and coping mechanisms in relation to culture, yet the effects of perceived stigma on the relationship between depression and control coping are heavily understudied. Typically, studies have broadly focused on comparing eastern and western cultures, but have not analyzed how populations with mixed cultural influences experience depression and stigma and further engage in control coping mechanisms. This study thus explores how perceived stigma moderates the relationship between depressive symptoms and control coping mechanisms for South Asian Americans. The study hypothesizes that the level of perceived stigma will moderate the relationship between depression and control coping such that increases in perceived stigma will increase depressive symptoms and increase secondary control coping, but not primary control coping. South Asian American participants aged 18-24 (M=20.57, SD=1.43, n=110) were recruited via social media and asked to complete three questionnaires assessing intensity of depressive symptoms, perceived stigma, and engagement in control coping. Results indicated that perceived stigma significantly moderated the relationship between depression and primary control coping. As perceived stigma increased, depression increased and primary control coping decreased. The relationship between depression and secondary control coping was not significantly moderated by perceived stigma. Findings imply that perceived stigma in the South Asian American community leads to poor mental health outcomes due to decreased engagement in primary control coping

Congestion Control in Mobile Ad Hoc Network using modified acknowledgement with secure channel

    Get PDF
The mobile ad hoc network is self-configuring and dynamic in nature. Due to its dynamic topology node can join or leave any time and each node behaves as router or host which can deliver the packets from source to destination. Due to the heavy traffic load over network congestion occur. To avoid the congestion on network various congestion control mechanism has been developed but in this we use modified-ACK based scheme for node authentication in AODV protocol. The simulation of our proposed work is done on network simulator NS-2.34 and comparative analysis of our proposed methodology is done using performance metrics such as packet delivery ratio, throughput, end-end delay average jitter and routing load.   Keywords MANET, Congestion Control, AODV, ACK, PDR, Network Simulato

    Get PDF
Maharashtra government reported 10,000 crore production loss of Pomegranate every year, due to the incidence of Telya disease. The present study was aimed to analyse the physical, chemical properties, and available micro-macronutrients in the soil of pomegranate orchards infected with Telya disease. Estimation of incidence and severity of disease was done on fifty selected orchards from different villages that were MangiTungi, Daswel, Dasane, Mulher, and Sompur. Results revealed that minimum incidence (58.66%) and severity (59.89%) were recorded in Sompur village whereas maximum incidence (74.40%) and severity (68.70%) were recorded in Daswel and MangiTungi village respectively. The pH (7.5-7.9) and free lime concentration 7.4-9.4%) were exceptionally very high for all test and control samples. Deficiency of essential macronutrients N (<150-250 Kg/ha) and K (<125-200 Kg/ha) was recorded in all test samples along with additional deficiency of Zn micronutrient (<1.0-2.0 ppm). In the case of mock orchards, all the parameters were in accordance with reference values.Statistical analysis of data declared that there was a significant difference among parameters of tested groups (P>0.05) while for control fields there were no significant differences (P<0.05). Further, a positive correlation between macro-micronutrients (Na, Ca, N, P, K, Mn) and incidence of disease was recorded which concludes that an imbalance in nutrients promotes growth of pathogens and increases susceptibility of plants to pathogenic attack. Further, balancing nutrients through fertilisers or foliar spray could be an effective strategy for an integrated pest management system

    Different Strategies of Asymmetric Synthesis

    Get PDF
Asymmetric synthesis is one of the significant subjects of research in recent times. It incorporates regulating stereochemistry of compounds to produce enantiomerically pure chemical substances. Chiral auxiliaries/substrates and enantioselective reagents and organocatalysis are used for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure molecules in organic synthesis. Significance of chiral compounds results in the generation of new bonds in a stereo and enantio-controlled method. Separation of enantiomers from enantiomerically impure sources is a difficult process. Asymmetric synthesis finds its challenging applications in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, life sciences, chromatography, and extraterrestrial chemistry. This article features the eco- friendly approach and cost-effectiveness of different strategies of asymmetric synthesi

Outlooks of Nanotechnology in Organic Farming Management

    Get PDF
Technological advances are getting monitored with time, and science suggests nanotechnology as the emerging future. This even holds correct with human food consumption for health benefits, where organic farming is a better solution for the rising population and is even supported by major countries instead of using chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Nanotechnology provides a platform where nanoparticles help in better management for organic farming by using it as nano fertilisers, nanocides, nano biosensors, nano growth promoters, etc. These nanomaterials can be synthesised by three different mechanisms namely; chemical, physical, and biological methods. Since the chemical and physical mode of synthesis does not follow the criteria of organic farming and have their drawbacks. Hence, the biological method, also known as the green synthesis of nanomaterials fulfills the requirement of organic farming and has achieved the attention of researchers. Extracts of plant parts (stems, roots, leaves, flowers and, fruits) and different microbes, including bacteria, fungus, and mycorrhiza can be used as a base material for the synthesis of nanoparticles under green synthesis mode. The vision behind the green synthesis of nanoparticles was to curb the hazardous effects of chemically synthesised nanoparticles. In the present review, green synthesis of major elements of organic farming namely; nano fertilisers, nano-pesticides, and nano growth promoters, their modes of transportation, their advantages, and disadvantages in organic farming are discussed

A Conservative treatment approach in the management of radicular cyst associated with primary mandibular molars: A case report

    Get PDF
Radicular cysts are the most common cystic lesions occurring in the jaws arising from the inflammatory activation of cell rests of malassez. They may arise from infected primary molars. Radiographically they appear either as unilocular or multilocular radiolucency delineated by a radiopaque border. Treatment includes extraction of the tooth or endodontic therapy of necrotic pulp followed by enucleation of the cyst. Here we report a case of a nine year old boy who visited the outpatient department with a chief complaint of swelling and pain in lower right region of jaw. On the basis of history, clinical examination and radiographic investigations, a diagnosis of radicular cyst was made. In our case a conservative treatment approach of only extraction was considered keeping in mind that, in children there is a high propensity for healing and formation of bone
