Songs of Vladimir Vysotski in Czech translations
This thesis analyzes three Vladimir Vysotski's songs (Песня о друге; Песенка ни про что, или Что случилось в Африке; Песенка о переселении душ) in Czech translations by Jana Moravcová, Milan Dvořák and Jaromír Nohavica. In the first part of the thesis, we provide a characteristic of the genre known as author song, a brief biography of the author and a description of distinctive aspects of his work. We also outline Vysotski's picture in the Czech environment and briefly introduce Czech translators. In the second part of this thesis, the translations are submitted to critical translatological analysis with particular emphasis on translation of semantic units, the overall translators' interpretation and rhythmic qualities.
