Late Industrialization and Structural Change: Indonesia, 1975â2000
This paper examines economic growth and structural change in Indonesia during the period 1975â2000 using an inputâoutput-based structural change decomposition method. The analysis focuses on the sources and pattern of growth during three phases of economic development: the inward-oriented phase from 1975 to 1985; the outward-oriented phase from 1985 to 1995; and the recent phase of crisis and recovery from 1995 to 2000. Growth during the first phase, although impressive, was moderate in comparison with the export-led manufacturing-driven growth during the second phase. During both these phases, the Indonesian economy witnessed significant structural changes, especially within manufacturing. However, the dynamics underlying growth and structural change showed important differences. Although growth under the first two policy regimes was assisted by favourable economic circumstances, selective industrial policies may also have played a significant role. The results suggest that the long neglect of the technological foundations and human capital base of the economy could be holding back recovery and sustained growth in the present phase.
Communities of inventors and knowledge flows : transcending social and geographic distances
International audienceA fairly large body of literature, employing primarily patent citations data, has argued that geographic distance constraints knowledge spillovers (Jaffe 1989, Verspagen & Schoenmakers, 2004, Singh & Marx 2013). This stream of work emphasises the tacit dimension of knowledge- a property that makes knowledge sticky and rather immobile. Knowledge acquisition therefore requires, the argument goes, close personal interaction. These interactions can often be informal and are thus best facilitated by physical proximity between parties

A diocese de Cochim no quadro da criação e extinção do Padroado portuguĂȘs : pensamento e ação missionĂĄrios
According to the tradition, St. Thomas, the apostle of Christ, went to India to proclaim the
Gospel of Christ. After St. Thomas some missionaries were sent from occident to continue the
missionary work in orient. But, an organized missionary work is happened only after the
discovery of the sea route to India under Portuguese Padroado. The diocese of Cochin and the
Portuguese Padroado are two important terms in the study of the history of the catholic Church in
India. As the first Portuguese political and religious center and the second diocese in India, the
diocese of Cochin has got an important place in the history of the Church in India.
The missionary work started by the Padroado missionaries at the beginning of 16th century
consists of conversion of the local people to Christianity, creation of the small Christian
communities, construction of churches etc. Jesuits, Franciscans and Dominicans were prominent
in the mission field of Cochin. This dissertation studies the method of missionary work of the
Padroado in the diocese of Cochin, the time of the breve Multa PrĂŠclare and the new vision of
the Church on Mission which is explained through two papal documents Maximum Illud and
Rerum EcclesiĂŠ and how it reflected in the missionary expansion of the diocese of Cochin
