A three-loop check of the 'a - maximization' in SQCD with adjoint(s)
The 'a - maximization' was introduced by K. Inrtiligator and B. Wecht for
finding anomalous dimensions of chiral superfields at the IR fixed points of
the RG flow. Using known explicit calculations of anomalous dimensions in the
perturbation theory of SQCD (with one or two additional adjoint fields), it is
checked here at the three-loop level.Comment: 5 pages; the title changed, the text improved and expande
Metastable states and space-time phase transitions in a spin-glass model
We study large deviations of the dynamical activity in the random orthogonal
model (ROM). This is a fully connected spin-glass model with one-step replica
symmetry breaking behaviour, consistent with the random first-order transition
scenario for structural glasses. We show that this model displays dynamical
(space-time) phase-transitions between active and inactive phases, as
demonstrated by singularities in large deviation functions. We argue that such
transitions are generic in systems with long-lived metastable states.Comment: 4.1 pages, 4 fig

Fluctuation-dissipation ratios in the dynamics of self-assembly
We consider two seemingly very different self-assembly processes: formation
of viral capsids, and crystallization of sticky discs. At low temperatures,
assembly is ineffective, since there are many metastable disordered states,
which are a source of kinetic frustration. We use fluctuation-dissipation
ratios to extract information about the degree of this frustration. We show
that our analysis is a useful indicator of the long term fate of the system,
based on the early stages of assembly.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure
One-loop renormalisation of general N=1/2 supersymmetric gauge theory
We investigate the one-loop renormalisability of a general N=1/2
supersymmetric gauge theory coupled to chiral matter, and show the existence of
an N=1/2 supersymmetric SU(N)xU(1) theory which is renormalisable at one loop.Comment: 30 pages, including 8 figures. Plain TeX. Uses Harvmac and eps
